I met up with a couple friends to go to the movies at King of Prussia UA/Regal and after the movie and much discussion, we landed on Kabab Cafe. I wasn't totally sold, as I had never been and wanted to go somewhere I knew, but my friends said, No, no, THIS is the place. And I'm glad I listened, because they were correct. I had the vegetable falafel platter, with rice, and it was excellent. The food came out quickly and was super-hot, maintaining that heat until I'd finished. I don't know how they did that, but one of my complaints with eating just about anywhere is that halfway through my meal I wish I could stick it in a microwave for a minute and get that heat back. But these falafels maintained their temperature and were absolutely delicious. They have a soda fountain that you access yourself, which I love. Plenty of hot sauces and other toppings, as well as a fridge full of a variety of interesting-looking drinks, sodas and yogurt-sodas, and other things that looked tempting, perhaps for another visit. The staff here is very cool. Both of the folks that we talked to were friendly, and they sure got that food together quick! They gave us a sincere greeting and goodbye at the end of our meal. For a quick in and out and still have a good taste of Persian main kabob dishes, plus the availability of various combinations, variety of side dishes and middle eastern drinks like Doogh is jot bad at all. The prices and the portions are average in my mind. They serve you warm pieces of pita that helps get you going while the main dish is prepared. Lots of carry out traffic if you're sitting as every thing pretty much happens in the main room. Service was just ok! People at the counter are rude. Stopped in for take out for lunch the doner was tasty!! Very juicy, good level of saltiness and the flatbread was warm and soft. The tomato's alittle too soft for my personal taste. I also got a side of cauliflower salad, I didn't end up eating it it just was extremely mayo-y too much for my personal taste that I felt like I was eating table spoons of mayo and vinegar. I'd definitely stop in for another doner though, and the cafe was well maintained and staff were friendly and quick. Kabab Cafe occupies an interesting space. It is exactly what you want and need when you're looking for some kebabs and saffron rice but doesn't have any frills. This was the case that led us here today for lunch. We had been waiting for almost two weeks to come here, despite there being many other options, including Persian staples within the area that I have been to several times and love. However, wanting very specifically to simply have kebabs and rice, my focus was on this spot and it did not disappoint. The staff was very nice and willing to deal with my million questions as I usually do, of which, I am very well gets irritating very quick. The lunch special was also a wonderful value, and the selection of "salad" choices was really diverse. I had a hard time settling on something, but as I wanted to go as simple as possible, I eventually settled on delicious shirazi salad to accompany my koobideh, rice, and grilled tomato. Everything was prepared well, and there is no inherent problem here. The staff is great, the location is nice, and the food is good. They even have sumac in shakers on the tables and vinegar pepper sauce, as well as other accoutrement; yogurt, tahini, etc. However, despite everything being prepared well and my experience being quite good, there is something lacking with how the dishes are flavored. They just seem to be lacking that "something". I am by no means an expert, but I do know the menu offered pretty well, and have had everything they offer, at other local places that are lauded for their authenticity and quality, and something here just seemed to be off, especially with the subtle yet savory flavors of the saffron rice. All that being said, I will be back! This may have been a one off and I want to try the lamb. Lunch may be different than dinner, and their pita was charred oh so perfectly. There were plenty of reasons to return. Give them a try and decide for yourself. read more

I'm always on the lookout for a good Persian spot, so I was excited to finally find one in Pennsylvania! I was a little let down by the chicken--it was a bit on the dry side. I had high hopes that the koobideh and chicken kabob would be super tender and melt in my mouth, but that wasn't quite the case. I have tried this place several years ago and wanted to try their kabob on my way back. As I entered was greeted by a gentleman and asked me dine in or take out. I was in the mood for takeout and then he gave some suggestions on the menu for me to order for take out. I wanted to just get the kabob and he suggested I order a wrap which will be the same price with a side ! So went with his suggestion. Very mixed feelings about this. First time ordering delivery from here and we wanted to try the falafel and chicken so we were so happy they had a combo platter. When the food arrived we were sad that they didn't give us falafel as requested and instead gave us grilled veggies (didnt want that since we already ordered pickled veggies as our side). dissappinting!!! Some items were overly salty like the Home Made Babaghanooj and the pickled veggies (couldnt eat them). Chicken and rice didnt have alot of salt which was perfect! REMEMBER someone can always add more salt if they want. We liked the food for the most part but it would have be nice if the order was correct. We didn't care too much for the chicken. It is pretty plain and not that good. Each sandwich comes with a side salad. We tried the cauliflower salad, which is a vinegar style salad. We also tried the masto kiyar, which seems kind of similar to the sauce for the sandwiches. We also had a cucumber salad that I did not enjoy very much. Yum! We go here a lot. I love their chicken kabab (joojeh kabab), and I have never liked it anywhere; I find chicken breast too dry about 95% of the time. The joojeh is good on a salad or on the platter; I usually get it on the salad, because they have a chopped salad that I really love. My husband always gets the koobideh (ground meat kabab) on the platter, with rice and grilled tomatoes, and we always get the Caesar salad with the platter (you get one free side with platters). Strangely, it's the yummiest Caesar salad, and it always makes me wonder how a restaurant manages to have such fresh, crunchy, delicious lettuce and perfect ultra-thin-sliced parmesan that's so much better than what we make at home? OMG, I loved this Persian restaurant which is close to the king of prussia mall; made my shopping even easier because I had my lunch there at Kabab Cafe land conveniently got back to the mall afterwards. I have ordered the Koubideh platter meal which tasted so authentic. It also came with a choice of side and fresh hot bread! The sides where salad shirazi, Mast o khiar (yogurt and sliced cucumber), pickles and .... many different ones. The combination of my Koubideh and rice and Mast o khoar and the fresh hot bread was really fantastic. I enjoyed the meal a lot and also, therr was playing a really memorable persian music which made that place like home for me! Portion-wise; I should say that it was big and generous. Stumbled upon this place on the way home from Apple picking and we had worked up an appetite after traversing the orchards all day. The minute we walked in the smell confirmed this place has authentic food. I got the joojeh and vegetables with the shirazi side. The bf got the koobideh and cauliflower side. The portions here are huge and we both took another meal home so don't let the slightly higher price bother you. The joojeh was juicy and delicious and the roasted vegetables were the perfect pair with the rice and meat. We each tried the joojeh/koobideh and loved them both! The accompanying bread was hot and fresh! I could eat here everyday and although it's a little far from home, I know we'll find an excuse to make it back here soon! The Koobideh and Joojeh was a bit underwhelming for me but my friend absolutely love it, so perhaps it just wasn't for me. However I loved the falafel sandwich! Perfect blend of spice and seasoning. Friends and I walked in to bright colors and to the sounds of appropriately ethnic music. A decent crowd filled the restaurant. We got in line, placed our orders, and waited a bit. A staffer brought our food out, and even helped us rearrange tables so we could sit together. How's that for service? Lunch was a treat. I enjoyed the joojeh with a shirazi side salad ($14), a delicious marriage of basmati rice and tasty meat. The shirazi was fresh - wish I had more - and I made full use of the included limes.
