During the first daycare experience, everything seemed to go OK, but we were surprised that they didn't seem tired at all upon pickup. At our previous daycares, the dogs would come home ready to rest and relax... definitely wasn't the case this time. Despite the initial daycare experience, we decided to board our dogs here over the New Years holiday as we really needed to have them in a safe place where they would be able to be together and would have daycare during the day. Our dogs seemed to do really well and did come home exhausted after the three day boarding experience and seemed to be in good spirits! The only odd thing was how thirsty the dogs were when they got home - it was like they hadn't drank in days (but this could just be from over excitement). The reason that I chose to remove a star is because they seem to be very disorganized and the front desk woman is a bit rude. Multiple times I was contacted for a missing vaccine or paperwork or this or that and yet they already had it ... just lost it/ misplaced it. Even upon check in, I had to go over the same items (like medication instructions) over and over because the woman checking us in did not listen (and truthfully is pretty rude). Additionally at check out... I was handed a bag full of stuff that wasn't mine. I was glad I checked as some other dog/ owner would've been without their bowls, food, etc. Despite the front desk woman being rude, the rest of the staff and the manager here are all very friendly and work to get things right. One employee that really went above and beyond (and will be the reason we come back is Casey (I hate to say I'm not 100% sure on his name, but I believe that's it). He took extra time to get to know the pups so they felt comfortable going with him, wrote down all the instructions for himself and also took time to speak with my family to ensure we felt comfortable. Overall - a good boarding place but one that has some improvement opportunities in administration.

My dog is genetically programmed to be aggressive towards other animals, especially dogs. She has made so much progress controlling her impulses, and we are learning together, with our trainer, how to strengthen what she learned and continue to improve. They also kept them for nearly two months while the inside of the house I was buying was being repainted. The cats I adopted were in good condition when I adopted them and have stayed that way for the eight years since I adopted them. Each of the volunteers was wonderful to talk to and it was obvious they loved the animals who were there and wanted them in the best possible home. I highly recommend Helotes Humane Society if you want to adopt or foster an animal!

Ashley was his "trainer", although I really don't know how much time she spent with him, since communication was very spotty during his board and train due to "phone issues" and a "medical issue". I got one video of my dog training with two other trainers at a Lowes, and just a couple pictures of him during his time there. Upon pickup, it was clear he didn't have a mastery of the "place", "heel", and "off", all of which are in the contract as skills the dog will learn. Even with reinforcement, I feel most of his time there was wasted. You can buy the mini educator e-collar for $180, which is the one they send you home with, and train your pet yourself with just a few hours a week and save yourself a ton of money. The worst thing, was that immediately after he came home he was sick with a virus that he was exposed to during his stay and cost me $5000 in vet bills to save his life. He was fully vaccinated, but still got sick, and after I contacted Bulletproof, they made no effort to help or follow up. Now, clearly this is a one-off review, but do yourself a favor and research e-collar training before you spend so much money on this training facility.

I was looking for…read moreideas of good local trainers that were willing to train my German Shepherd that I adopted through a FB post that was from her 2nd owner. Yes I was her 3rd but final furever home which is probably why she had severe separation anxiety, timid toward men, and leash reactivity. I saw someone recommend them and then the owner Jessica replied as well and we started training a few weeks later. Prior to training I never would have thought I'd be able to take her around other dogs but now she's a gem. Jessica was able to teach me more about the different German Shepherd working lines which was a crucial part for me to understand why previous methods failed. Now my Sammi is more focused on we with walks, can be around other dogs with out reacting when she's on leash and behaves better at home. The best part is her spirit us not broken which I was worried about. She still runs around with her weird German Shepherd antics but now she listens. Currently we are still with them for our next training journey -- mobilty support/medical alert service dog training. SADTC helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life - raising a lab puppy…read more When I chose Kona as a puppy 7 weeks old, I knew her parents - a 110lb male and a 100lb female. They were short and stout and STRONG. I used my brain and decided I did not want a 100lb lab ruining my life, my things, and my patience, so I decided to put her through some training classes as opposed to buying a few books and doing it on my own. I had watched through the window at a few of the PetSmart training sessions and not blown away by what I saw, or by the people who were attending the class (classmates are very important in dog training classes, as you don't want to be with somebody who can't or doesn't want to handle their jerky dog). Luckily, I bought a wire dog crate from a woman on Craigslist who told me all about the wonders of SADTC (I met her at the Humane Society where she and her German Shepherd were attending a class). I kept SATDC stuck in the back of my mind until I felt Kona was ready for some good ol' fashioned learnin.' SADTC holds their classes at the SA Humane Society at 410 & Fredericksburg. Each of the classes I took had about 15 people in each. All dogs are to have their shots, and luckily, most of the dogs weren't total dbags to begin with. Kona and I took the Clicker 1 and 2 classes, and both instructors were smart and knew what they were doing. By the end of the Clicker2 class, Kona can sit, stay, down, "leave it," walk very well on-leash, and do a few other entertaining tricks. If you are a crazy-dog-person, the further classes include something to do with Dog Dancing, as well as more involved obedience classes to prepare you for showing your dog if that's your thing. A caveat: Your dog will only be trained as well as you train it. Don't expect magic to happen if you aren't willing to practice and learn along with your dog. A+++ Would train with again!!!
