Went by this horrible animal torture shop again today and OMG, this place is the worst! The pot head fish guy told me he wouldn't sell me a baby coy because I was going to put it in a 36 gallon tank until it was large enough to put in my pond... what an idiot. no one in there right mind put a baby coy in anything but a small grow tank. I couldn't believe he actually said No I can't sell you this fish if your going to put it in a 36 gallon tank, but he did. And the reason I couldn't believe it is because they had 40 of them in a 10 gallon tank... WTF. And he was so stoned that I really don't think that he even understood that this is my growth tank. And the little pudgy manager stuck up for him and at first I didn't understand why until she got up in my face telling me that I had to have a 300 gallon tank to put this one baby coy in before they would sell it to me and her breath smelled like straight marijuanna... But it's all gpod! I went to Polly's Pets and they are on the up and up! Listened to me, understood what I was trying to do and gave 2 butterfly coy for less than the price of one at this horribly smelly anim death trap on angora prkw... Oh and I took some photos that anyone interested in shopping at this place might be interested in!

Been through the beginning and now in the middle of intermediate doggie training here at Petsmart. Eco the Newfoundland is the lead trainer here....oops I mean his human Jenny is the lead trainer. Eco likes to help out in classes by being the biggest calmest goofball you have ever met. I know this helped my socially anxious corgi calm down. Eco was the perfect social host, allowing my dog to get close and sniff without batting an eyelash. Suffice to say that my corgi now loves coming to doggie training class and lets new people talk to him without hiding behind mom. Or maybe he just likes getting copious amounts of treats every class.... anywho....definitely two paws up for Petsmart Training!!

After every pickup I would ask how things went, and the feedback was always positive. I can only speculate as the explanations I've been given have been vague and contradictory at best. The issue seems to be that over the past year they have now hired very inexperienced staff that is afraid of large reactive dogs. Whether they are unwilling or unable to work through staff turnover--I've noticed on pickup a lot of the new staff now seems to be barely out of high school if that--and I wonder if anyone would consider them professional dog trainers, much less able to handle giant breeds that are reactive. They raised my price substantially without proactively telling me, from 82 per night, to 100 per day. I was initially told this was a general change in policy, because he occupies a training spot--which I already knew he occupies a training spot, because that's what I was paying for--the 4grand up front and 82 per night over the past nearly 4 years. The person who told me this was also a new person, so I asked again the next employee I interacted with, I believe was Austin who told me it was just because there were only certain employees that could handle him--not sure why that would cause a price increase but maybe it means they couldn't pay the new minimum wage high schoolers they've hired. Finally I ask upon pick up why the increase and was told it was because he damages things while he is there and that every time he stays they have to replace something. Again, news to me, aside from being told last year of a cord he chewed threw, I was never told he was so destructive--I have ZERO destruction issues at my house. I don't think I have ever spoken with the owner Lisa before, did not even know who she was. But after getting home from my last pickup, having just been told again for the x number of times how there were no issues with his stay--never insinuating that he was somehow in his way to being banned--I was informed via text at 8pm at night that we are no longer welcome for boarding. Whether this is a change in business model, or in hindsight a pattern of miscommunication (I say miscommunication but NO communication would likely be more appropriate) the owner decided my dog is not worth the headache. Ultimately in texts I was told they can't safely board him--odd after almost 4 years. I was also told the new staff members were unwilling to even show up for work if my dog was there. But then told it was because having me pay more money wasn't enough for repairs and overtime. I'd say that is probably nearer the truth, that the owner would rather make more money by using their limited spots on a dog that can be boarded by staff members who happen to be afraid of dogs.

She quickly identified that he was incredibly food-motivated, and training began! We have been implementing every technique she demonstrated to us over the past two months. I can happily say that we have seen incredible improvement in our dog. He no longer lunges and barks at dogs and cars. Instead, he sits and waits for his treat (hot dog) until they pass. He responds remarkably well to "leave it" after using the training she showed us. Stephanie came incredibly prepared with her own treats and even another dog in the car! She spent a good amount of time with us, and only left when we were comfortable with the training techniques and listened to all of our questions for quite a while. He is greeting guests better and better every day and we now go on relaxing, virtually pull-free walks twice a day. This is a fantastic value for the quality of training.
