We took a six week class which I felt was helpful, but he did need some basic obedience and we enrolled in that class. They taught us how to train our dog to sit , stay, wait ,place as well as learning how to go to his designated space for down and settle. I felt the instructors were excellent. I can't remember all their names, but Fab was excellent. when Rudy graduated from his class, he got a certificate and had a graduation picture taken. Right now I feel that I need to work on these basics before I enroll him in intermediate class, but when he's ready, I will definitely go back.

I'm here to tell you that my husband and I couldn't be happier with the wonderful experience and results we have had at Wet Nose Training. We paid for the 3-week training and I'm really glad we did. Yes, it an investment to properly and thoroughly train your dog but when you think of having a well-behaved dog for the next 16-18 years, it is a sound investment. Also, this is one of those times you get what you pay for. Let me tell you, I did not see how I was going to be without my baby for 3 weeks. I kept reminding myself that we were doing this for her good so that one day she could be an off-leash dog on hikes and playing disc golf. A well-behaved dog has so many more opportunities: she can go to restaurants that allow dogs, she's welcome at other people's homes, I can trust her near children, the elderly, and other dogs. It is my saddest regret that my old dog was never trained and was poorly socialized. It has limited his life so much. Lucy got to go to Rudy's the day we picked her up! Andy is very transparent in letting you check out the environment. There is an inside work area (as well as an inside kennel room), but plenty of stimulating outdoor area for your dog to learn and practice, all surrounded by sturdy iron fencing. Once I saw the environment Lucy would be in I knew she would be safe. They only work together dogs that will be safe to work together so that your dog can develop his/her personality and confidence. I've attached pictures of our Lucy playing with a cute little friend she made there. She also went into her first heat while there and Andy and Amanda handled it perfectly professionally. We were always kept in the loop with what Lucy was working on. What made us first interview Wet Nose Training was that Andy kept getting singled out in such rave reviews at his last place of employment. I searched him out and saw that he had started his own training company. Then, when we interviewed him (we interviewed 4 other potential trainers), we found that his METHOD was the one we were looking for. As I understand it, they teach basic manners with positive reinforcement, teach leash training using a flat collar (cross between a regular collar and a prong) so that Lucy could learn what he wanted. There were also very high quality treats to reinforce good behavior. Then they add in an ecollar. That was the part I was most afraid of. On a scale of 0-99 we only needed a 12 to get her attention. She had ample opportunity to learn what was expected of her first without the ecollar before it was ever used, and it was never used without notice to her. To me, this is the most constructive way to train. It's layers of learning, like learning your alphabet before you start reading a book ;) Andy knows dogs. And Andy LOVES dogs. He truly understands their nature and gave us so much insight into Lucy, like how to watch her thought process unfold and what her "tell" is before she makes a bad choice of action. We just had a follow up the other day to iron out some of our questions so we could more accurately reinforce what Andy had taught her, and he'll be coming to our neighborhood soon so we can fine tune some of her behaviors in her natural habitat. The fact that she pauses before going through a doorway until told she can, sits when she sees another dog rather than charging them, can be put in "place" when we need her to stay still to answer the door, and leaves her cranky old brother dog alone has been such a relief. Our dog had a terrible habit of jumping on people to say hello and needed a lot of training in basic manners, recall, leash pulling, reactivity, leave it, and cat chasing. We saw results after one session and continued once a week for 2 months and we could not be more pleased with the results! Our dog is incredibly happy and loves seeing Ashlyn pull up to the house, and she no longer body checks her say hello We did off leash training going for hikes in the woods, public outings for reactivity training, and a lot of work at home. I have a six year old dog that lived on a ranch chasing whatever he wanted for 1.5 years. On our walks he would pull aggressively on his leash towards other dogs, which was very embarrassing. Not only that, but my wife could not walk him when I was away on travel due to this. Now that my wife is pregnant this was obviously an area of concern for us. Cora came in and immediately reinforced good behaviors through positive reinforcement. In the six short weeks, our fur-baby learned so much and with more practice will only get better. I can now walk him and am able to redirect his attention with confidence. We are so lucky to have found her. Do keep in mind that these are one hour group sessions, so for best outcomes YOU will have to do additional work. Cora just lays the foundation for you and your fur-baby! Dean was also very reassuring that a lot of what we have experienced with our Henry was normal puppy behavior. What really stood out to us was how personalized the training was. Dean took the time to understand Henry's personality and our lifestyle, and then tailored everything to fit our home environment. Since moving to San Antonio two years ago, he's also increasingly dog reactive, especially on leash. It doesn't help that we were jumped a few times while on walks by loose or stray puppers, and my own history of ptsd, which can make it very hard to stay calm and self regulate for the sake of the delicate flower you're walking with. Anyhoo, I had finally gotten to working with a trainer, we were making progress - and my job started changing my hours/commutes to where I would need to find a dog walker. But I was worried Clyde would rip somebody's arm off or break through a fence or eat some stray dog's face off or who knows what. What I REALLY wanted was a person who did, for lack of a better term, training walks, someone who could check their ego (there's a lot of that in the dog training world) and support the work I was doing with the trainer we were working with. They would have to be strong, calm, consistent, and communicative. Surely this animal did not exist... Matt is all of those things. A freaking dog training walker unicorn. At our first meeting he listened intently, asked appropriate questions, and when we took Mr. Clyde out for a few minutes of "see, this is what he does" and not only didn't get his arm shoulder dislocated, but got Clyde to sit and be pretty calm I let out a huge breath of relief. Matt worked with Clyde pretty regularly for several weeks, and I noticed big changes in him immediately both when I got home and when we went on our walks. It was wonderful to actually start enjoying walking with my dog again. Then my work hours changed once more, and even though Clyde didn't work with Matt as much, he was always happier and more calm the days he did - and I could breathe easy knowing Clyde was in great hands. Matt never flaked on a day he was scheduled, he was attentive to the weather and how it would affect Clyde, then adjust their outings accordingly. Also, recently I lost one of my cats to sudden heart failure, and my other cat (they were adopted together as kittens and never separated before) has been completely distraught any time I leave with Clyde. He would howl and cry so loud I could hear him across the street, and after a week of poor Clyde not getting a proper walk because of poor Blue I was desperate and reached out to Matt, who was able to come that same evening and give Clyde a much needed romp and me a much, much needed break. Now I'm moving several hours from San Antonio, and I'm already very vexed that there will be no more Matt to help with Mr. Clyde :/ If you need a trustworthy, reliable person to train-walk your beast, then I highly recommend Matt.

Where do I even begin to explain how ecstatic I am to have found Matthew? I moved here in July with…read moremy 5 year old American Pit Bull Terrier, who does not like other dogs at all. She and I have done about 2.5 years of serious training (to get her at least somewhat near dogs) and what I was looking for was almost impossible to find. What I realized I was looking for was not just a dog walker, but a mixture of a dog walker/ trainer. I had interviewed 6 different dog walkers/ doggy day cares to see if they would be a good fit. It took me until December to find the right one. Here were my requirements: 1) The person could not be scared of my dog or her reactions to other dogs. 2) The person needed to understand what rules/ structure Mama (my dog) needed on her walks 3) The person needed to have a general understanding of training a dog aggressive dog (but it didn't need to be the same exact training that she already had) 4) The person had to be flexible with hours and days 5) The person needed to demonstrate that they would care for my dog and keep her safe at all times. 6) The person needed to understand that I am crazy about my dog, and would probably interview them for 2-3 hours (over 2 meetings) and ask them questions from my experience of working at a shelter, AND this person would need to understand that it's because I see my dog as family and my baby, and I just want the very best for her. Matthew met all of these requirements (especially number 6). I could have sworn I found gold when I saw him greet Mama, and walk her the first time as well. He understood that her structured walk (no pulling on leash, next to the person at all times, no stopping every 30 seconds for a "pee" break) were necessary for her training. He remained calm and corrected her properly, when she did react to another dog, and waited until she was calm to pass by. He asked me about her and her quirks, likes, dislikes, and respected my input on what I thought could be some of the roots behind her "issues" (other dog walkers that I interviewed did not respect my thoughts about my dog). However, the most important part of everything was that Mama like the walker too, and boy does she love Matthew. She gets excited to see him, and when I come home from work on the days that she has been walked, I can tell she's been out and is more relaxed (compared to the days she doesn't get walked). I would recommend Hod's Hounds for anyone and everyone who has a dog. Any kind of dog. A well behaved dog, or a dog who has special requirements. Matthew understands what the needs of the dog are, and puts the human's anxiety at ease.

Waste of money. $2800 for e-collar training over a 15 day period and it barely made a difference in…read moremy dog. Ashley was his "trainer", although I really don't know how much time she spent with him, since communication was very spotty during his board and train due to "phone issues" and a "medical issue". I got one video of my dog training with two other trainers at a Lowes, and just a couple pictures of him during his time there. Upon pickup, it was clear he didn't have a mastery of the "place", "heel", and "off", all of which are in the contract as skills the dog will learn. Even with reinforcement, I feel most of his time there was wasted. You can buy the mini educator e-collar for $180, which is the one they send you home with, and train your pet yourself with just a few hours a week and save yourself a ton of money. The worst thing, was that immediately after he came home he was sick with a virus that he was exposed to during his stay and cost me $5000 in vet bills to save his life. He was fully vaccinated, but still got sick, and after I contacted Bulletproof, they made no effort to help or follow up. Now, clearly this is a one-off review, but do yourself a favor and research e-collar training before you spend so much money on this training facility.

But after reading about them and being owned and trained by Veterans I was sold. I took him in and I met the new trainer Gage. I liked him and facilitates right away. i left my baby there 15 days and Gage was awesome, he was constantly sending me videos and photos of his progression .Then after the time was up we went in for the training of me. Anyway, my dog is perfect, and I would not suggest a better place!
