Jax (clingy /anxious 4 yo chihuahua mix) and I (anxious 40 year old dog mom) had a fantastic experience in the basic obedience class with Chyanne and Jamie. I was nervous as Jax has been anxious around other people and dogs. We had a thorough in-person behavioral evaluation (including assessment of potential for aggression towards people and other dogs - which Jax did not demonstrate) with Jamie and she suggested that we enroll in the basic obedience class. I am so glad she encouraged me to try the class (vs starting with individual training which would have been much more costly) as it went well and was confidence boosting for Jax and I. Chyanne led the class and Jamie was there as co-facilitator. Both were very patient and helpful with Jax and I. We are very much a work in progress and we will definitely be back for more classes in the future. The facility was clean, well staffed and required all dogs to be up to date on their vaccinations. Safety is clearly the top priority there there were clear procedures in place to ensure the safety of the dogs, owners and staff. read more

Our only regret is not reaching out to this place sooner! They have an incredibly knowledgeable and patient staff, and since we have been coming here our GSD has made so much progress! We had to start with a special class for behavior issues (our pup struggles with fear aggression), and in that evening class we were given helpful strategies to work with our dog on his issues (and an opportunity to practice there). After a few weeks of repetition at home we were able to come back for a re-evaluation (no additional cost) and got the green light to move forward with their obedience programs. Last week Radar graduated basic obedience, and we will have him start intermediate next month. We are also bringing him in for day camps to help with socialization. All this to say that the changes we have seen because of the programs at K9U are almost unbelievable. Our dog still has a long way to go, but I can't imagine where we would be without the education we've received here. Prices are EXTREMELY reasonable (I was afraid initially since they didn't have prices listed on the website), and we have received a coupon for future training with the completion of each program we've done. We are moving in the Spring and very sad that we won't be able to continue through the advanced training here- but we will be getting in as much K9U as possible before we go! I cannot recommend them enough for ANYTHING related to your dogs behavior. Not only will they help, the improved relationship you'll have with your dog is something really special. read more

Extremely disappointed and do not recommend using this place for dog training. I have a 10 month old cocker spaniel and had made plans for him to attend their boarding school. I brought him for his evaluation on a Friday afternoon and they would not let him stay because he barked in the kennel area and they felt that was unsafe for the kennel staff over a weekend. A dog barking at obedience school! I confirmed he did not bite/attack/ etc. I was left scrambling at the last minute as I had plans to go out of town. This facility is definitely not equipped to train dogs if they cannot handle a barking cocker spaniel. In the end, I am glad I didn't give my money to this place, as I have zero confidence they could have adequately trained him, after this interaction. read more

The way they teach is fantastic and mu dog has picked up everything so much faster than I ever could have imagined! Can't wait for the next class we will be taking! We adoped our puppy from the Humane Society. Her foster home worked with her on lots of things, but we still wanted to feel confident in doing what was best for us and the safety of our dog. So, we enrolled in a basic training class. While it is a large class, our trainer still makes time to talk to everyone and give feedback on each skill. Definitely do not feel rushed in learning the skills. She also allows you to stay after class to ask personal questions, or e-mail her. She has been such a great help! Definitely reccomend coming here!! read more

My GSD stayed here for 3 weeks of boarding school. We were very impressed with the results. These trainers are very skilled and wonderful with dogs. Our dog is obedient and anxious to learn more. I'm not writing this review 2 years after cause of hate. My dog has been abused and she is absolutely not a people friendly dog anymore. She hides from anyone she sees unless she absolutely knows them. I still remember that day when I picked her up with the large cut on her nose. They lied to me about how she was to anxious and somehow hurt her self from the metal cage. I had her for boarding school and then day care was the time it happen. So the moment I completed the online form and spoke with Shelby over the phone It was PLEASANT! The day that we had the interview with Angie to board and train our Sparkle it was AMAZING! Angie was able to show and example in the interview as well as explain why she did what she did and the reaction from Sparkle was priceless. We boarded our puppy for 14 days. Angie also notified us of the military discount which was another THUMBS up! Once we left that same day we were contacted by email by Angie and was notified that our trainer would be Toni. A day or so later we were then notified that Abby would be our trainer due to something came up for Toni. The contact between email and phone was GREAT! I picked up my Sparkle today and Abby was EXCITED and explained everything she has done with my puppy. Abby also explained to me that protection training would be something we should look into for our puppy later down the road and also mentioned Angel the CEO of company agreed as well. I also had the pleasure of meeting Angel for a brief moment and he even mentioned to keep her busy suggested protection training as well. I also received documents which was Awesome because after reading over it and instructing Sparkle what to do it WAS LIKE MAGIC!!! Classes are structured to get the most of out the hour you are there with training for YOU and your dog. Cassie was an excellent instructor for my golden retriever's basic class. She was high energy, kept both us and the dogs engaged in their sessions. Each class we started off with a group discussion of any particular concerns each owner had with his or her dog and Cassie gave advice on how to improve the situation. Mallori was my golden's intermediate teacher and going straight from basic to intermediate was a breeze for my dog as she was used to the 'playful' training aspect with basic and then in intermediate we get more serious and expect more from our dogs in regard to response time with commands and go from verbal to non-verbal obedience. The intermediate training is well structured and a great class to get your dog from kind of caring about obedience to being alert and ready to listen/watch attentively for your commands. I've read a few reviews that speak negatively regarding Mallori and it bewilders me. She is so attentive to each owner and dog in her classes. I came to K9 after my cousin had gone through basic, intermediate, and advanced with his golden and german shepherd and recommended to get into Mallori's class. I've never had a negative experience with Mallori and for those few who've made comments about rudeness or her not being a people person (you must have been having an off day) because you're dead wrong. I am the owner and veterinarian of a vet clinic in town. We have received K9 University's brochures for the past 10yrs. We include their brochure in all our puppy packs. We HIGHLY recommend their dog training and other services they provide. Whenever I'm not at the clinic I forward the Clinic phone to my cell phone. This morning I received a call from Mallori wanting the vaccine records for one of my clients faxed to K9 University. . I told her I can give her the info over the phone but because I'm not physically at the clinic I am unable to fax it. She was very rude and would not accept me giving her the vaccine info over the phone. I then called my client who happens to live 2 house down from my house and told him that he has a certificate of vaccination and he can give her that when she shows up at his house. He stated that he explained that he had the certificate but she needed it to come from the Clinic. Mallori ended up in my driveway at approx 12:39pm and asked me if she was at the right address. I told her that I was the one she just spoke with 20min ago. I showed her where my client lives and explained to her that on several occasions I've had to give the vaccine info over the phone without faxing it. I enrolled my older puppy in the boarding school class to do a combination of basic puppy and obedience training. The staff was great and my trainer was very friendly and knowledgeable but at 95 per night and she stayed 7 nights I feel like all I got out of it was the instruction I received when picking her up on how to do the training myself. While I had seen sky high results reached in friends' dogs who have attended K9 University, I was weary in believing they could actually help us teach and train our puppy to stop teething on everything we owned...much less obey a "simple command." I was wrong. What an amazing array of educated, kind hearted, and seriously peppy puppy/dog trainers they possess at K9 University!!! During Basic Obedience class, Cassie H. taught us how to teach our puppy to sit, lay, heel, and stay...just to name a few commands we mastered! I didn't want Basic Obedience Class to end, becusse I figured no one else besides Cassie H could ever help us get this type of success with our puppy!!! I was mistaken. And with the encouragement and assurance from Cassie H. that all would be good, and that our puppy was ready to take it up a notch, we enrolled him in Intermediate Obedience Class. During the 1st few weeks of Internediate Obedience Class, Mallori took it to an even higher level of mastery!!! Her pure Joy, excitement and love of helping others teach their puppy how to obey shines through in every skill she is teaching us. She makes teaching our puppy something that I thought would be impossible, not only attainable...BUT ALSO FUN DURING THE PROCESS!!! Our family has been blessed beyond measure by K9 University!!!
