This is an awesome motel. It's locally owned. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. The cost for the rooms are reasonable. If you're a traveling nurse or medical staff here on a short term contract this is the place to stay. read more

Ummm where do I start? A great stay at a fantastic price. I'll admit that I'm a hotel snob and have only done a motel a couple of desperate times (and they were horrible experiences) but I decided to try this place out because the reviews were great - thank you Yelpers because you nailed it with this one. The room was super clean, the bed comfy and the bathroom pristine. The only thing this place has related to a motel is the motel style from outside because this my friends is hotel quality. Checked into the K2 Motel very last minute in Sandpoint. We were just looking for something quick and easy, but were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful little motel. You can tell there is a lot of family pride. Everything is tidy and well taken care of. The room we stayed in had an extremely comfortable king bed with softer sheets than my own home. The staff are very kind, helpful and made great recommendations when asked for advice. Also, we were offered freshly ground, local coffee for the morning. Sheldon ground it for us at checkin and it was delicious. We will definitely be back! read more

I usually would head to a large chain, but a local recommended K2 and we went for it. This is a basic room with great service. Very clean. This is a great spot to head out to the city. You can walk everywhere you would want to go. If you need more than a clean room in a great location you should head to the chains, but if you need a great room within walking distance to everything head over to K2. read more

The K2 is one of my favorite places to stay in Sandpoint. Sheldon and his wife are the friendliest people and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need/want, so your stay is super comfortable. I've been staying here for a couple of years, different times of the year, and every room I've ever stayed in has been super clean, the bed and pillows are super comfortable, and the room temperature as cool or warm as I want it to be. I never hear any noise from neighbors. The motel itself is an easy one block walk to downtown, if you plan on taking in any of Sandpoint's many events, enjoying City Beach, the many shops, or wonderful breweries and restaurants downtown has to offer. I always look forward to my stay at the K2! read more

We tried many Sandpoint motels en route to visiting NW Montana relatives We really enjoyed Sandpoint's downtown businesses, dining options and nightlife. After many trips, we decided to stay at the downtown K2 Inn whenever possible....very reasonable cost, very clean rooms (several with kitchenettes), just1 block from Cedar Street (a main downtown street), 2-3 blocks from Sandpoint's downtown core for shopping, eating and nightlife and not far from City Beach Park (the original "sand point" on Lake Pend Oreille). K2 managers Sheldon & Dana are both very nice, hard-working and helpful. In anticipation of retirement, we are now building a home in Sandpoint, we visit more frequently now and we always stay at the K2 Inn. We are very pleased that our house construction is almost done but it means our K2 visits and staying in the downtown fun area is almost done too. Great local motel, super central to downtown and well within walking distance to anything you'd want to do in Sandpoint. Rooms are simple, but well appointed. Sheldon was super friendly, very easy to talk too but not up in your business if you don't want to chat. Really nice to park right outside your door. Very clean and comfortable, only minor complaint is that the bathroom sink was low and the shelf over it made it hard to wash my face after shaving, but the price easily makes up for that! Will definitely stay here again when visiting. read more

This is a Motel! Fellow Yelpers, those of you in the know understand the difference between a hotel and a motel. As a general rule, due to a horrific experience in the 1990's, I don't stay at motels. I made an exception in this case due to the excellent reviews, with the exception of the review by jt. several years ago. I use Yelp to pre-screen purchases, services, and dining needs, as well as other items of financial and personal interest to me. The lone comment by jt, prompted me to contact Sheldon, owner, and proprietor, of the motel to make last minute Labor Day vacation arrangements. I last visited Sandpoint 31 years ago to help a friend move so it had been awhile between vists! K2 is an excellent motel that provided exceptional services required by my family. The rooms are exceptionally clean. The bed and linen for the room is excellent. As a general rule I don't sleep well due to sleep apnea, Although treated, I sleep very lightly. The two nights we stayed at the motel I experienced the best nights sleep I have enjoyed in years. The amenities met our needs and the extra towels for the room and even for our visit to the beach were provided. K2 Motel is within walking distance of all activities downtown and a short drive from the Schweitzer Resort where we spent the first day of our stay. K2 rates are exceedingly competitive are an excellent value for the traveler. I recommend checking this establishment out for any class of traveler. The value for your hard earned dollar is hard to beat! Sheldon is friendly and passionate about Sandpoint. He was helpful to us each day of our stay. His wife Dana makes the muffins provided for breakfast. I have traveled around the world in my 30 years of professional life and have been relegated to stay at rooms in resorts, hotels, lodges, and the occasional motel. Had Tom Bodet adopted a policy of service at Motel 6, as Sheldon has done with K2, they would be much sought after by the general public. We enjoyed our stay and will be certain to stay again should the opportunity arise. I had the opportunity to visit Best Western during my visit and would not stay there for love or money. The proximity to the train tracks and multiple trains 24x7 would keep the soundest of sleepers wide awake. The other hotels in the area are run-down, musty, dirty, and overcrowded. I wouldn't waste the money for the corporate hotel chain. Anyway, Check out K2. You will be pleasantly surprised and appreciate the service provided. read more

I give this 3 star motel 5 stars for a few reasons. The location is great right down town, no cab needed just a short walk to all my favorite spots. The Staff, everyone we talked to was super great, check-in people, maid. Cleanliness, Was very clean with fresh paint ect. as well as NEW flat screen and fixtures. But....... It is old. Funky lay outs in the rooms some of which are rather small. I am sure that someone from Seattle with post a review that calls it a dump. If you are looking for a good cheap place to stay when in town for some dinner and dancing this place is the best bang for the buck. read more

What a quaint little place. I must admit I was sceptic when we first pulled up. The manager was super friendly and even ground fresh coffee and creamer and brought it right to our door. Our room was two bedroom with a full kitchen filled with vintage charm. My favorite part - it was so clean! Loved this place, and you can't beat the price anywhere. We stayed here one night while traveling through. Very friendly staff, simple continental breakfast but amazing homemade muffins. Rooms are exactly what you need, complete with a little sink in the room, which allowed us to clean up a bit after camping for many days. The location is great and gives you the lovely option of walking around town to lots of bars/restaurants downtown after a long day of driving. Would definitely stay again. read more

The K2 inn is the perfect location for an extended stay and our preferred home when we are visiting family in Sandpoint for a couple weeks. It's right in the middle of downtown and, not only are the rooms kept spotless, but many of them come with a stove and fridge so that you can make meals for yourself. In the morning, if you don't feel like making breakfast, they have a breakfast bar with oatmeal packets, yogurts, and muffins. To top it all off, the people working here are some of the nicest to ever run a motel. Edit: I just noticed j.t.'s review below. The 5 star rating is not because this is the Hilton. Affordable, clean, comfortable accommodations in the heart of downtown Sandpoint. I emailed ahead of time for a reservation (that's how the website's reservation system works) and Sheldon, the manager, got back to me quickly to reserve the last room on a Saturday. He was helpful with tips for catching the train too. People have mentioned problems with rooms not being updated, but that must be in the past as my plumbing and bedding were all clean and comfortable. Location is convenient to the train, and what passes for nightlife in a small town. I'll definitely stay again. read more

Five stars for sure! My wife and I were just passing through for the night to catch a concert in Sandpoint (5 star review for Blitzen Trapper too!) and basically just needed a place to crash. This place was perfect! Cozy, clean, quiet and best of all... Affordable! Sheldon the general manager was super nice and welcoming and made us feel at home, even if it was only a couple of hours. For half the price of most hotels in Sandpoint you can stay in this exceptionally clean and comfortable motel. Rooms have all the amenities. Our two bedroom with kitchenette was $90 a night and very spacious. The owners go out of there way to make your stay memorable. read more
