Update to the previous review. I stopped staying at the Edgewater and made the new Marriott my hotel of choice in the Sandpoint area. It's by far a cleaner hotel with better amenities and a great staff.

The staff here are wonderful. Everything was clean and so peaceful. We loved the view of the lake and mountains from our balcony. We enjoyed the lovely indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. Would definitely stay here again!

This hotel was the one of the best experiences I have ever had. The front desk staff were so accommodating and wonderful. Our train (they are right by the train station) was three hours late. Ben the late night front desk associate was so kind and made us feel comfortable and welcome. There was a glitch in their system (which seemed to happen often, perhaps they need an upgrade), and he accommodated us and we went smoothly to our beautiful room over looking the gorgeous lake and mountains. The beds were so comfortable and the room was very clean. We swam in the beautiful pool and sat in the hot tub to sooth our aching muscles. We got up too late to have breakfast, but the girls on the morning shift actually went out of their way to make sure we had a healthy breakfast, heating up sandwiches and offering us muffins and juice and coffee. We then wanted to stay another night and they were fully booked. But then found us a nice room on the ground floor with a Jacuzzi in the room. We fully enjoyed our stay!!! Then we stayed at my parents house the next night and the next we were getting on a train back home. The train was departing at 1am and the staff at the hotel let us stay there until our train came in. Exceptional service and wonderful friendly people. I will go back again.

Do NOT stay here unless you want your room broken into by their night manager with bolt cutters in hand and at midnight while your half dressed! No joke people! They gave the wrong room to us which was THEIR fault and they say its protocol to barge into your room at midnight and yell at you saying you need to leave. So imagaine then trying to sleep, when you finally tell the lady that you are not leaving because they assigned you that room, and you can't because now the locks are broken. Then they tell you in the morning that the night manager has anger issues! Really!!? Unbelievable what happened to us..there is more to the story and now we have our lawyer involved because they are rufusing the address this nightmare! People do have privacy rights when staying in a hotel and did they ever exceed in breaking them! Stay safe and don't stay here! This place is a nightmare!

Upon check in of our first room we discovered TONS of hair in the bed. Went and spoke to the manager and he made it right by moving us to another room. He saved the review from one star. Cons: uncomfortable bed, itchy sheets, loud neighbors due to not enough sound canceling insulation, drafty room, slippery tile around hot tub, and poor shower head pressure. I hope housekeeping is addressed promptly and seriously. Cleanliness is a must! We just won't be staying here again.

This place was dirty with hair and smell of urine. After going through 4 rooms, and they even offer us to stay free, we declined. This is covid pandemic and we are seeing poor housekeeping. A huge disappointment. Also the curtains are dirty and the rooms are outdated. I was told the Manager would call me, never did.

Fish and chips, they were good. Had enough to take back to the room.

Tired and with miserable food. Fixtures and linens need an update. Lamps didn't work. Entire place needs a revamp.

Crazy front desk worker, kicked us out for walking and "making noise". We're 50 year olds, not partying

Talus was eclectic, artistic and it felt like we were a guest in somebody's amazing house. It was a midweek stay. Maybe there was another couple there. We had the house to ourselves. That night we saw deer grazing out back and it snowed overnight. We woke up to a beautiful scene which included a few people ice skating on the frozen pond. We were in the Kipling suite which had a jet tub big enough for two people to swim is. It had a mini fridge, microwave, small coffee maker with coffee. A definite off the norm place to relax. On a side note, had an over the top dinner at 113 Main.

Hi Heather, Thank…read moreyou for taking the time to respond and engage with the feedback--it's clear you care deeply about the property. We hope that on a future visit, you might experience TRR from the perspective of a first-time guest--someone arriving with the hope of finding a peaceful retreat, but instead feeling somewhat like they've unexpectedly stepped into someone else's private space. While you see meaningful memories and personal touches, guests may interpret these items, photos, and instructions differently. The feeling of intrusion was heightened when the resident innkeeper prepared their own family's meal in the middle of the great room, making the shared space feel less like a guest retreat and more like someone else's home with lingering odors. There's so much to love about the property--the architecture and setting are truly stunning. With a bit of refreshing (particularly in terms of dusting all the bric-a-brac) and a shift in focus back toward creating a getaway experience, TRR could easily return to the high ratings it once enjoyed--as a place where guests can relax, reset, and grow.

I'm at a loss for why so many people have rated this hotel so highly. We disliked it so much we…read morechanged our return booking to a different hotel. First off, it's old and pretty beat up, nowhere near as nice looking as the photos would suggest. The parking lot is very tiny, with weird low areas that jut out and block parts of the overhead of the stall - when I opened my trunk it hit the concrete. Second, it's right across the street from a karaoke bar that is very loud into the night hours, making it hard to sleep. Third, the air conditioning unit is probably 30+ years old, barely works, and is so close to one of the beds, it's blocked from pushing cold air very far into the room. It's noisy, clunks and pops all night long, and anyone sleeping in that bed will be freezing while the rest of the room will be hot. It's just very poorly thought out and all too common in older hotels. There's also no place to plug in an EV overnight, which really should be standard by now. The pool is decent. The staff was nice, the free breakfast was spartan but fine. We just barely slept and didn't enjoy the overall experience - especially given how expensive it was. So we won't ever come back here again.

I had an absolutely terrible experience staying at this hotel on a Saturday night with friends…read moreafter a concert. There was a massive party just five doors down from our room, and while we were a small group simply playing music on our phone (without a Bluetooth speaker, so it wasn't even that loud), we were still targeted. At 11 pm, we received a call from the front desk saying we were being too loud and asking us to quiet down. At that point, half of our group left to grab food from a nearby burger place. While they were out, a neighbor next door came out and screamed obscenities at them. It was incredibly hostile and uncomfortable. Meanwhile, we could still hear the loud party down the hall from our room, despite us trying to be as quiet as possible. Shortly after, hotel staff came to our room while we were sitting on the floor, braiding each other's hair, and told us that if we didn't quiet down, they would call the police. This was very confusing since we weren't being disruptive. We turned off the music and switched to watching TV, hoping things would settle down. When our food arrived, we ate, turned everything off, and went to bed. But then, at around 12:30 am, we got a knock on the door. I got out of bed to answer, and to my surprise, it was the police and hotel staff again. At this point, I was beyond frustrated and explained that we weren't making noise. I told them that the real disturbance was the large party down the hall and offered to let them come in and check the room, as everyone was sleeping with the lights off. They declined and left. The next day, we received a call from the manager, who was extremely rude and informed us that we would be charged for the neighbor's stay due to noise complaints. They claimed this was their policy. We requested they review the police incident report and check the hotel's video cameras, as we were certain it wasn't us causing the disturbance. The noise was clearly coming from the party down the hall. But they refused to do any investigation and instead decided to blame us for the situation and charge us an additional $200. I travel frequently and manage my own rental properties, and I would never treat guests in such a dismissive and unprofessional manner. This hotel deserves zero stars. I highly recommend staying elsewhere in Sandpoint, as there are plenty of other places that will actually respect and care for their guests

Both Priceline and the best western website had pets listed,…read morebut the website had a separate, tucked-away link, that stated that the hotel should be called directly about pets. No mention of this anywhere else on Priceline or the website itself. Clearly trying to get away with the legal minimum for informing customers I was informed at the desk that my cat was not allowed, despite being cleaner and quieter than most dogs or children. The gentleman at the front desk actually had the gall to suggest I leave my cat in the car. Which would have been for 2 days In the summer. With no food water or litter. If I wasn't so stunned I would have chewed out his stupidity. I was placed in a room right by an exit door and assumed the staff was giving me a wink wink to bring my cat in, that they had to follow policy but were trying to help. Except they called me a half hour later saying they watched me on camera with my carrier and I would be charged 300 dollars if I was "caught" with a cat in the room. Really? Watching me check in on camera? They could have just charged me if there were damages but they went that far? I had to ask a family member to call in a favor to have my cat taken care of. But what if I couldn't? What if I couldn't afford to cancel the room without a refund and go to another hotel? Or risk the 300 dollar fee? What if there was nowhere to board my cat because local vet clinics were closed by the time I checked in? The whole thing was badly implemented and executed The website has a picture of a paw on the amenities for pet friendly but hides that it is DOG friendly which is not the same. The whole process was shady and shameful. 2 stars because the room was mediocre, but fine, the breakfast buffet was good and the view was great. But the whole situation was a complete mess and there was no effort by hotel staff to address it.
