What a raucous time we had at K1! New to go karting, we didn't really know what to expect. We were nervous naturally, but after a practice round where we were allowed to stretch our metaphorical legs, we really picked it up quickly! The staff are SO patient-- there are tons of kids running around and vying for attention, and they were so calm in how they handled it. Polite, safe, impeccably professional. The space is large and clean, there's ample parking, and many cheap food and drink options. read more

K1 Speed - Go Karts Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

This was my first time go-karting other than the go-karting at Canada's Wonderland, and it was definitely more intense! We came about an hour early before our check-in time but ended up having to wait another 30 minutes. It was quite packed the day that we went! Because there were so many people, we had to race in sets. We bought 3 races, and in between each race we had to wait another 20ish minutes to go again. There is an arcade to kill the time, but the prizes were a bit lackluster so we didn't bother playing. It was nice being able to watch the other races, however, even being able to stand in the go-karting area off to the side. Even with a driver's license, go karting is a different breed. I found it pretty hard to steer cleanly while going fast around the corners. My kart often stopped for the first race (probably due to my own poor driving) but I got a bit better later. I was definitely humbled by the guy who passed me in his own customized, shiny helmet, who turns out, was on the leaderboard. I also liked that the stats of each race were printed out so I could see just how slow I was. Overall, it was pretty fun experience although I am definitely not cut out for go-karting. There were a ton of parties here celebrating, so it's well-built for large groups. It is on the pricey side, but that is typically of go-karting courses. Great for those competitive streaks! read more

Came here as part of a corporate event - a great way to relieve leftover frustration by ramming your colleagues on the tracks! This place was a little isolated - while fairly close to a subway station, the complex in which it was located is, to all appearances, basically in the middle of nowhere. Inside though, the facility was well organized and clean, with plenty of comfortable tables and couches scattered inside the lounge (where you can rest between rounds of go-carting). The washrooms were immaculate as well. The race experience itself was terrific - these carts can go extremely fast in the blink of an eye. The track and carts were both in great condition resulting in a mostly smooth ride (except of course when you're bumping into one another), and the layout was a good mixture between high speed straight lanes and some convoluted turns. Overall, the process to getting onto the tracks was fairly efficient, although it did take some waiting time to get everyone outfitted and into the carts. On the other hand, many of the staff, particularly the ones overseeing the tracks, were somewhat rude and standoffish. They also really, really need to invest in a better sound system because the megaphone was so fuzzy that no one could tell when their names were being called, and the safety instructions were mostly a blur of confusion. We had food in the Paddock Lounge, and it was pretty mediocre - although I guess it's on par with the average pub food. (The pizza was an exception - super cheesy with an amazing thin crust!) I think our team will be back again - maybe more competitive next time. :) read more

I went with a group and had a positive experience here! For me, the go-karting activity itself was intense, thrilling and overall fun! How it works: One group member booked two time slots for our group and this involved a % deposit. They were then sent an e-mail with a registration link and an 'event code' (a set of six digits) for everyone to enter in during the registration process. We all had to register online to read the terms and conditions and sign a waiver form. When we arrived to the place, we checked in with a staff member at the front counter and were required to provide a piece of ID to verify each registrant. And then each person paid for their track sessions. The group member who booked was then able to get their deposit $ back. We waited around for a bit and then our group was announced to come to the track area, they called out each person's name! They went over some rules, meaning of flag colours, and how to move in the go-kart. We had to put on a head covering where only our eyes can peer through. For those of us who wore glasses, we had to take them off and once the helmet is put on, then you can slide your glasses in. My current glasses wouldn't fit through but I brought an older pair and those were able to fit in. If you can wear contacts, I would recommend wearing them instead. In the end, the top 3 racers got medals and everyone got their stats and ranking on a sheet of paper. Service/atmosphere: All the staff were friendly and well organized, especially the staff at the track, as they were attentive and quick acting. They apparently change the formation of the track once in a while. This was a unique and adrenaline-filled experience! read more

K1 Speed at Downsview Park is pretty fantastic. The cars all all electric, which means that you don't have to smell the fumes, or worry about fire hazards. They are also quick and responsive, and have quick acceleration. They have cars for adults or for kids (8 years and older, 48" and taller). Adults and kids race separately. The staff can control the speed of the cars remotely in case there's an accident on the track. The track is indoors, so that you can race at any time summer or winter, rain or shine, and not worry about the searing heat. We payed $68 dollars per person for a combo which includes: 2 x 12 Lap Races K1 Speed Membership - 1 year access Select T-Shirt ($20 value) The place seems to be well organized. It's nice and clean, the staff is professional. They make sure that the track is safe, but also fun. A nice feature is that all races are automatically scored with ranking based on fastest lap time. At the end of the race, each driver gets a colour printout report of the race results, their ranking, and stats. read more

Location: It's in the Downsview Park / Downsview Airport area. Hubby & I came here on a rainy Sunday to use some gift cards that we had won. The place is a little difficult to get to if you're coming by transit. The closest bus stop is a 12 minute walk away. In this hot & humid weather we've been having lately a 12 minute walk wouldn't be pleasant. We ended up taking a Lyft as we didn't want to arrive soaked in sweat. LOL. There is a parking lot right in front of the building. I didn't see any parking meters so I'm assuming it's free to park. Layout: They make good use of the space. When you first walk in there is a counter that runs along the back wall where you can check in & pay for your ride, etc. We had a booking already but we found out that our race time wasn't until an hour later. That was a little inconvenient. We came a lot earlier than our race time so we had about 1.5 hours to kill. There are some arcade games after the greeting area. Beyond the mini arcade are the washrooms. The ladies washroom was clean but the stall doors were crooked so some of the doors don't close properly. They should get that fixed! Past the washrooms is the lounge area. At the lounge area they have food & drinks available. Hubby ordered the spring rolls to have something to munch on as we killed time. He said they were tasty. It looked good but I wasn't in the mood to eat so I didn't try it. There is a glass wall of windows in the lounge area so you can watch people doing their rides. And if you want to be closer to the action there's a small fenced in area by the race track with tables & chairs to view the action. Watch out! There are some crazy speed demons that frequent K1. LOL. The track itself is middle in size I'd say. It wasn't too small nor was it overly large. I think they made it this size so they could time the rides. Each "ride" is 12 laps & takes about 10 minutes. But if you're a newbie you get a quick lesson on how to drive the car & the meaning of the flags. If you get a membership you get a free head sock (protects your hair & skin when you put on the helmet). You also get a t-shirt with the membership. The cars are electric so they are charged in between rides & there are no fumes to worry about in an enclosed space. Decor: The walls are mostly black with lots of accent colours. The lounge area seating has leather covered sofas but they also have bar height tables with stools & chairs in metal. The viewing area by the race track had metal tables with stools that are cushioned on top in a red vinyl. Ambiance: The music in here is way too loud for me. I felt like I was at a dance club! They call peoples names when its time for their ride. Hubby & I couldn't hear our names so we just went up to the staff person who is by the race gate. Service: Everyone we dealt with at K1 was nice. Overall the experience was good. Now if they could just turn down the volume on the music it would be great! Oh and fix the stall doors in the ladies room! read more

Super fun experience! The staff are really good at helping you get set up and they make sure everyone gets a few practice rounds in before the Grand Prix! I would definitely come back here read more

There is nothing much to do in Toronto with teenage kids. They bored out of their mind if there is no electronic device in their hand. So, we found this place and it was so much fun. My son had a blast and he forgotten his phone for at least an hour. Try to come early weekdays so that less people there and you could speed it better. The service is great, the staffs there were very helpful, especially Gabe. You could tell when someone really have the passion for their job. Gabe complimented my son and explained to him his weakness turn and how he could improve his skills. Thank you. read more

Fun place to do some Go Karting! If it is your first time Go Karting, I would recommend their package for two races. Usually you are timid on the first race. But you get the hang of it, you can really push the boundaries and have some good fun. The weekends are naturally quite busy. We went on a Sunday morning at 9:30am and while we were the first walk-in's, there was already a reserved group of 10. There is also a full bar with finger food items. read more

Full of fun for the family! My boys love this placed would definitely recommend friends!

It's a great experience and a lot of fun, but I wouldn't really rave about it. The track is actually a bit small but the karts sure are fast. I booked the 3 races ahead with my friend and a schedule was emailed to me on what to expect. Basically we'd have a debrief before our first race and that we'll have some breaks in between each race. So we get there and the staff is super friendly. Inside there is an arcade and also a nice podium you can take pictures on. There's a bar that serves drinks and a variety of finger foods. We wait a bit and then get called for our first race. We go through the debrief and they explain their flag system. Afterwards we get seated and start the race. The racing is basically who can record the fastest lap times - it isn't really a "race" so you don't need to have skills like overtaking. The karts do go pretty fast and it is pretty exhausting. Right after our first race we get put in right away and go again. I was pretty tired at this point and was expecting to have a small break. They said that we'd have to do our 3rd race right away because a large group is coming. The other people with us had to wait an hour or more for their second race, which seems pretty absurd. The whole scheduling aspect was not pleasant but the racing part is pretty fun. read more

They are just okay. We visited them as a group of 8 from work. We did two rounds - first one was 14 lap qualifying round to decide the positions based on the best lap times and the next one was the actual race. In the second round the race was stopped twice because two carts they gave us had their battery ran out. It spoiled the experience for us. They didn't offer to resurrect the situation or even apologized for it. Will probably look for some other place to organize go-karting events in the future. read more

Came here for a birthday with a group of 7 adults. It was $55 per person for 2 runs (16 laps each). To our surprise, it does feel pretty fast considering it is indoor electric go karting. The staff there were okay and basically memorized the script. It was easy enough to follow. The place was clean and renovated. The wait between turns were handled kind of awkwardly which gets you out of the mood to race. The whole experience took us from 6:30 to 8 when I don't think we were driving all that long. It was okay overall but not enough for me to want to do it again. read more

The track was Great, The STAFF, including the manager are the worst! They cover their behinds behind every mistake they or clients make(for their insurance purposes). Ex: My 14 yo got into an accident, he was fine just some scratches, but, I bought the camera that goes on his helmet. They wouldn't release the footage(the manager lied about their policies "stating if there is an accident they will nor release the video, I asked to see the policy, he said he could find it). And it took me 1.5 hours to convince them that I just wanted to see the video. I had no ill intent to sue or anything. They gave me the runaround, and then they edited the video, and said camera broke on impact(those are pretty sturdy cameras, they are made for this kind of things) so that was a lie, because I understand a thing or two in video editing. They kept the still frame for the rest of the time while they were trying to help him. No harm done, just some scratches, but the staff was very uncooperative with the release of the video(afraid of their insurance going up). They assumed the worst. And the worst I could do is bad review, here it is! read more

Super easy to find go-kart place, just beside downsview park (aka veld.. I was wondering why I had traumatic flashbacks driving in..) there's lots of parking but also lots of cars, so it becomes limited at peak hours because of all the hockey moms and random families in the area. I think the staff are pretty nice but they suck at sticking to their timelines. Our group had a birthday event here set for 7:30pm and they told us to arrive by 6pm to sign waivers and prepare.. ok? Waivers took less than a minute per person and by the time the entire group of 15-16 people were done signing and paying, it was 6:30pm. Definitely a waste of time. They also didn't start prepping and reading us the rules until it was 7:45-7:50pm, by the time we were in the carts, it was past 8pm. The group had a reservation for dinner at 8:30pm so it definitely made it complicated because we weren't done until 9pm and they weren't very apologetic about it at all. The track is pretty small and it gets boring after 3-4 laps. I didn't have any of the staff try to slow down my cart like a lot of the reviews but I did notice it happen to other groups after they slam into the bumpers or each other, which seems reasonable. A lot of the staff on the floor are very nice and let you do your thing most of the time. It's cute how they have trophies and the podium for winners along with a fun arcade and a small bar/resto area. Packages aren't cheap, $80 for 3 races so this definitely can't be a all-time thing. I'd probably book this for my kids (lol don't have any yet FYI) but not really that fun for an adult party. read more

The cars here (K1 Toronto) are pretty good. The Track is small, very short. The Staff however are horrible! the young punks that work there will slow the car down the minute you touch another car by accident. I brought my staff there for a company event and we were all mature adults who were by far horsing around or being reckless. they manipulate the speed of the car and ruin the entire experience. I understand if we were bunch of young kids messing around. Definitely not returning unless they get some adults who can tell the difference between kids clowning around or adults trying to race. read more

Overpriced for what you get and the employees are rude little idiots. Having paid well over $60 for a total of around 10/15 mins total race time, the experience was worsened when your go kart is automatically slowed down every two mins with the power hungry little dweebs that work there. They also expect you to abide by this ridiculous flag system which clearly nobody can learn in such a short space of time. Would go elsewhere to enjoy go karting next time! LEAVE THE SPEED ALONE!! 1/10 read more

Not allowed to book ahead of time if your group is under 10, they told us the wait is an hour and a half for the next race. Staff is rude. Don't waste your time. read more

Came here with my sister to get as close to a Formula 1 karting experience as possible, and safe to say, it was! Finding the building itself was a little tricky since it's in a warehouse type plaza. Love that it's indoor and the karts are electric. Decorations are on POINT. After a bit of a wait, you get called in from the speaker and get fitted for a helmet and a head slip (which you keep), then are given a rundown on how to use the car, what the flags mean, etc. Loved the course and driving the kart itself was very straightforward, right pedal for acceleration and left for braking. The steering wheel is a bit stiff but you get used to it. Once you're done they print out your lap time sheet to keep! A bit pricey but a cool experience! read more

Rude staff not worth it at all. You have to pay for a monthly membership of 9 dollars to get a helmet.

This place is pretty fun. Their staff is mediocre at best but the Go Karting is really fun. They have this dumb first come first served policy to get you to play in their arcade and spend all your money. Call first to confirm a race time and then go about half an hour before the confirmed race time. Overall their service is mediocre at best but the go karting is amazing. read more

Venue is nice but washroom bad. Cars are good. Service was good. Catered food was good. Race sucked. Race consisted of 4 groups of drivers and we each got 2 races (first race was the qualifier). Even though I won all my races, I consistently got matched up with slow drivers and never got a clean lap, which sucked cause I lost out to people I never had a chance to race against. It was a corporate event and the most important people won. Almost felt rigged or badly managed. read more

Very clean place. They have a lounge/dining area and arcade where you can hang out as you wait for your race. It's first come, first serve, which is a bit of a downside since it gets really busy on a Saturday night. I went with a group of 5 so it was a bit of a wait to get all of us in the same race. The only way to make a reservation is to have a group event ($125 deposit required and you have to pay for everyone up front) read more

It's a super place to chill enjoy music and have some fun with friends especially if y'all are competitive. Take it out on the tracks or throw a private party if you have to read more

Staff is mediocre at best and they control and manipulate your cars to pretend to ensure safety ...ruins the experience.

I went after Toronto moved to stage 3 to allow indoor events like this. They did have a sign posted outside saying that face masks were required and had sanitizer just inside the front door. All staff were wearing masks, but one took his off to speak on the phone and a female cashier kept touching hers and pulling it away from her face as she spoke to us. Everyone has to touch an iPad to register with no hand sanitizer at that counter. I saw 3 adults in the establishment without face masks and 2 kids, I didn't see any staff telling them they had to wear a mask. There were also several patrons wearing a mask covering their mouth and not the nose. I did not observe any staff telling these patrons to mask properly. The staff did sanitize the helmets and steering wheels but people do crowd in a small area waiting for their turn to ride. We did go through with our ride, but I am feeling regret about not just leaving after seeing a less than ideal covid-plan. I think they can do better with keeping their staff and patrons safe and I think the staff need some education on their own use of masks and how to keep the patrons social distanced. I didn't see any hand sanitizer in the arcade area. I know that covid has been hard on businesses like this, I hope they will be able to remain open, but I think they can do better. As far as the karting goes. This was our first time at this track. Unfortunately, kids and adults have to ride separately so it wasn't possible to ride with my kids. The staff were excellent at explaining to the kids how to use the carts and the flags and getting them unstuck, but the track is pretty short. I also found it confusing about the race times and it didn't seem to be posted anywhere. If there was some way for patrons to wait outside for their turn to ride that would help with social distancing. I set a timer on my phone and waited outside, but with a little thought they could probably organize a way to have patrons wait outside then text them or just call their names to go in to improve social distancing. Good luck, I hope you can stay safe and stay open, but you need to make improvements. read more
