Mississauga Mini Indy - Main entrance from the parking lot

Mississauga Mini Indy

The mini indy is open at square one, just weekends at the moment, while the weather warms up…read more It's the original track of 20+ years, short and windy and fun. Cars have lawn-mower-type engines claiming max speed of 45kph. 2 laps is about 12$. They have package deals, good for families/groups. There is a maze which is great for the little ones. Minigolf is a pretty challenging course with lots of hills and valleys, unexpected hole in ones, and accidents in the bushes. I liked it. Entrance is north of where playdium used to be. Lots of parking options, closest to the GO station. Fun way to spend a few hours outside with the family.

This post is bittersweet. You get to read my sentiments that twist and turn like the nearly…read morethree-kilometre go-karting course. Our team did a mini event here yesterday. I had already been in the office the day before, so I drove here from home after our team meeting. This go-kart mini-Indy course is located in Centennial Park. it's fairly close to my workplace, which is over the Mississauga-Etobicoke border. Parking was decent. I found a parking spot and backed in to it. It was free. I was the first one to arrive. My friend and peer called me. He and two other colleagues were waiting outside. I was already inside, checking the place out. It has an arcade. You can play everything from NASCAR racing, to air hockey. I was admiring an extremely large Yoshi plushie that you can win. It was likely three feet high. The main reason why my manager chose Thursday to come here was to take advantage of paying $3 per lap. It's regularly $6.50, which isn't bad, but it's better when you are saving roughly 46%. My manager isn't the best at planning things. I tend to point out details that don't make sense. His original thought was that we buy two laps. We do a lap and then "take a rest" before doing another one. I didn't get the rest. Perhaps he was the only one in our group who needed one. I threw out the rest part when I looked at the lineup to get into an available go-kart. It was at least an hour to get a go-kart. Scrap the break. It's back-to-back laps. He then had second thoughts about doing two laps, so he bought another set of tickets to do a third lap for his family (two daughters and himself). So, now our entire team had different laps to do. Ugh! I lead 66% of our writers on our team. One of them brought her son and daughter. She said that her son was going to do two laps. He's ten years old. Her daughter is six and is too young to drive one herself. You have the option to get a two-seater go-kart. The catch is that the adult needs a G driver's licence. My colleague doesn't have a driver's licence. Her daughter couldn't experience go-karting. My good deed of the day was to offer having her daughter ride with me. I have a valid licence. I have not killed anyone riding with me. I asked my peer if her daughter would be comfortable riding with me. She said yes. She was right. If you do ride solo, the lineup moves faster. Since there was a lap deal happening, the lineups were long. The downside to riding in a two-seater go-kart is that there aren't enough of them. Additionally, people do multiple laps, so you have a longer wait. The staffers here were friendly, helpful, and hard-working. They made sure that my special sidekick and I had our helmets on properly. They fastened our seatbelts in the go-kart. We were advised that if anything was wrong while we were driving the course, to raise our hand up. We never needed to do it. My colleague was sweet to pay for my laps with her daughter. You first get a shower cap, which made me want to take a shower. We looked ridiculous, but it was for safety. I am one of the rare ones who reads the rules. If you have shoulder-length hair or longer, it has to be tied back, with the shower cap holding it all in. The next step was to find a helmet. The man gave me a rather small one. As someone with a huge skull, I knew that I needed something larger. I got one that fit well. Sound was also muffled thanks to the helmet's padding. The man secured the chinstrap on our helmets. It was comfy wearing this helmet. It was hot wearing a helmet and waiting with the sun beaming on us. We waited for roughly 1.3 hours. We were both excited to finally get in a go-kart. She wanted a red one. Sadly, we didn't get one. We rode in a black one. The driver (me) sat on the right. My little friend got a smaller steering wheel on the left. I liked that she could steer with me. I made it look like she was doing all the twists and turns. I felt that it had to be a fun, magical experience for her. It was fun. She loved it as much as I did. The winding course was easy to navigate. The two-seater go-kart didn't have as much power as I had hoped. I felt that we were going slower than we should be, but it was still exhilarating for both of us that it wasn't horrible. My peer's daughter was extremely happy. She wanted a Mr Freeze afterwards. It was nice chatting to her about Mr Freeze flavours. I planted the seed to get grape and she did. Her mom took photos of us post-Indy laps. Hopefully, we look decent. I am roughly twice the height of her daughter, so I had to crouch a bit in the photo. There are washrooms next to the concession stand. The latter is where my peer got the grape Mr Freeze. Credit and debit cards, and cash are accepted. Sadly, the city of Toronto has asked this go-karting course to cease operations in November of this year. The batting cage also goes away then. The city wants to build two baseball diamonds. There's a petition. I hope this course stays. (330)

When we got there at 6pm, we were the only people there. Eventually two other groups of people arrived, but I thought it would be more packed if they say it's one of the best go karting places. The ad definitely did a lot of fluffing; it's not as great as the description or pictures seem. 2. Location is hard to find. The first time we went, we got lost and we were an hour late. not only roads have 2 names, but entrance wasn't clear, and you don't see the kartway sign until you drive all the way to the end of the parking lot and around the corner. 3. Because location was hard to find, we were an hour late (7pm). When we got there, people booked their time slots and we had to wait almost 2 hours for the next heat. Since bookings are first come first serve, we couldn't book it in advance. Sucks because we had to plan another day to come again. 4. Staff is friendly, but they seemed bored of doing the same thing. It sucked for me because as we were getting ready for our first lap, they told me i wasn't tall enough to ride in the senior karts (even with two booster seats), meaning i couldn't ride with my friends and i had to race alone. or i could get a refund. sucked either way, so i watched my friends do a lap. It was after a while where they were able to find that i could fit in one of the smaller the senior karts. Karts weren't smooth, but i guess it's better than not racing at all. 5. Karts are not all the same speed. I went in kart #15 and #6, and they're both jerky, and bumpy. you would press the gas, nothing happens unless you press it really hard. maybe it's just me, but the break pedals aren't very sensitive either. 6. Helmet wise, we had to wear a red hairnet underneath. That wasn't an issue, but I have a small head, and the smallest helmet they had (junior, medium) was too big for me! when i was racing, the bottom of the helmet would be where my nose is at. Had to constantly pull it down. After an hour, we were pretty much done. It's a small race track, maybe 6 turns? I think i'd rather race a real car or go somewhere with more energy in the atmosphere. I gave it a 2 star and not a 1 because service was decent and we came here for karting and that's what we got. But overall experience is not very impressive, even with the discount. All in all, i'm not coming back here.

I'm STILL a fan because what I'm about to say will even the stars out a bit. The BAD was that when…read moreassigned starting positions, it is not an option which cart you get to sit because I keep wanting to be in front or behind my buddy within a group of 4-5 of us and was pretty much dependant on us to WAVE others past so we can be racing against each other instead of having someone else inbetween our action. The GOOD is that on Monday[2 for 1($29.00)] it was relatively quiet so around 9pm we were pretty much the only group as the place close at midnight and other patrons were families that only did a SINGLE race or the 2 for 1 deal while my group went for UNLIMITED. The downside is that the tracks and carts are relatively unused, therefore not all carts will have that same performance and TRACTION. Especially if you race within the first few races of the place opening 5:30pm, then it's guaranteed that you will SKID all over as both the tires and track are fresh. Hope that helps!

The staff are SO patient-- there are tons of kids running around and vying for attention, and they were so calm in how they handled it. Polite, safe, impeccably professional. We came about an hour early before our check-in time but ended up having to wait another 30 minutes. It was quite packed the day that we went! Because there were so many people, we had to race in sets. We bought 3 races, and in between each race we had to wait another 20ish minutes to go again. There is an arcade to kill the time, but the prizes were a bit lackluster so we didn't bother playing. It was nice being able to watch the other races, however, even being able to stand in the go-karting area off to the side. Even with a driver's license, go karting is a different breed. I found it pretty hard to steer cleanly while going fast around the corners. My kart often stopped for the first race (probably due to my own poor driving) but I got a bit better later. I was definitely humbled by the guy who passed me in his own customized, shiny helmet, who turns out, was on the leaderboard. I also liked that the stats of each race were printed out so I could see just how slow I was. Overall, it was pretty fun experience although I am definitely not cut out for go-karting. There were a ton of parties here celebrating, so it's well-built for large groups. It is on the pricey side, but that is typically of go-karting courses. Great for those competitive streaks!

BOTTOM LINE: The technical layout is one of my favourite tracks in Southern Ontario…read more This review is only for their open lapping days for the technical layout. They also have an oval track here, but I did not get a chance to even see it, let alone drive on it. First off, this is one of the most organized open lapping days run by a track management team that I have been to. Everything ran like clock work: They divide you by experience level (which is self-selective, in any case), give you wrist bands, and announce which group is coming on and off. There are staff positioned throughout the track for safety and flagging reasons. And finally, their price is very reasonable, particularly if you pre-register. The track configuration itself was a blast to drive on. It is a flat track with plentiful run-offs should you enter a turn a bit hot. Compared to other tracks, this is probably one of the safest ones. There is a good technical session and a nice long back straight. Speaking of which, that back straight also serves as a takeoff runway for small planes, so your session could interrupted by an actual takeoff (it's very seldom)! It is easy on the brakes. All in all, if you can ensure that the technical layout is the configuration for the day, you should definitely give it a shot.
