Went to K1 Speed with three other people. Signing up was very easy but the carts are extremely unsafe. A member of our parties cart brakes failed and her cart collided with another racers and mounted on top of another women's neck. The staff had to lift the cart off of the other women's body so she could be freed. A staff member admitted that he saw her carts brake fail (stomped on the brakes without deceleration). We left after the women in our party had serious bruises. We decided to return a few days later in hope of a better experience but our last race ended up only lasting 6 out of the 13 laps because of cart failures. A serious disappointment especially for the high price we paid to race. read more

So, my first review was deleted from this site. We left because of their terrible customer service. Long story short, my husband and I met up with my parents in Phoenix and thought we'd give this a try. We were told two different wait times from two cashiers ranging from 30 mins to two hours.. My dad went up to a cashier and asked why there were two different times and she put her finger in his face and told him he needed to listen to her and stop talking. Needless to say we left. My husband went back in to get her name and she grabed her name tag and refused to give it to him. If you plan on going there, expect to leave in a bad mood. read more

I took my son and some friends and they had a blast. We went on a Friday around 4 and they were the only ones racing. The service was great! One of the kids we brought was here for the first time. The guy that taught them how to use the car was great with him. He even helped the kids get their helmets off. Whenever we take a first timer they make sure they are comfortable. It seems like the employees really like their jobs and are conscientious about safety! We will definitely be back. Next time I am racing! read more

We had to wait twice as long as we were initially told for our first race. We were told that it is customary to have to also wait for 3 races in between your races to allow for rest. Bring a game for the wait cause most of theirs seem to be broken. For our second race we were told it was an adult race but they mixed in young kids who stopped the race 4 times, once for a few minutes, no extra time was added. This was also unsafe for the drivers as the adults went full boar, ramming into kids expecting them to be handling more like adults. Eventually we figured it out and took it easy, but it really detracted from the experience. When you pay $22 per 8 minute race I guess I expected to at least get the full 8 minutes. We will go back to Octane next time, even though they are more expensive. read more

Before you read this review know its based only on the customer service of the bitter 17-22 year old gal at the front desk. I found this place on Groupon. I had actually wanted to hit the Coyote game. BUT, I knew my husband (who travels from work and we hadn't had a date night since JULY) would LOVE this!! Yay! We're doing this! So, I purchase the Groupon (without reading the fine print... YES. YES. MY FAULT. WELL AWARE)... Here we go. We leave the kids with my parents, it's a date! And, we are going to do something we have never done!! It's going to be worth the 45 minute drive!! We pull up, get even more excited, and head in. The bitter little sweetheart at the front asked us what we wanted to do, I said, oh we have the Groupon! NOPE. So, I continue to discuss with my hubs. What are we going to do? Spend $100 (YES THATS RIGHT) on 2 races for each of us? Plus, the $50 on Groupon for which I don't know if I can get my money back. The girl at the desk says, well, you can come back. I say, we are here on vacation from out of town. She says "oh". Awesome. Wow. Needless to say, we left. And, drove the 45 minutes back. Realistically, we could have been accommodated. EASILY! The correct answer would have been "Let me get my manager" with an ear to ear smile. There is a bright side... Groupon has a fab concept of customer service. Even though I opened the voucher, they refunded my money. Which I was very grateful for! So, lessons learned. Always stick with the Coyotes! And, this place is... Well... UGH. Oh... I love K1 speed. I've been going to this one for over a year now and have even been to the one in Houston. I just love karting. I'm used to the idiosyncrasies, so they don't bother me anymore. But here are some keys. 1. They're always busy on the weekend, so don't go thinking you're going to get in and out. When you go to K1, you're going to need some time. 2. The staff has gotten good at making verbal announcements to help the newbies understand the process, but if you come in between announcements, it is not intuitive. 3. Check groupon before you go to see if there is a deal available. They do run local specials and also have coupons in some of the entertainment books, so you can get a good deal if you try. But if you go in cold, you're going to pay. Once you know and learn those keys, you'll be ready for the karting experience of your life. read more

After the first race I watched the employees have us place our helmets in the "need to be sanitized" area. I watched them not sanitize the helmets then move them to the "clean" helmet area. I've raced here multiple times before during the week with no problem, but maybe it was because we were here on a Saturday... either way, I don't want to pay $50 to be slowed down to 3 mph. We arrived right when they opened, on a Monday. We were able to start racing right away. My boys did get skipped for almost a full hour for their last race, which was frustrating. The cafe was being ran by one employee, he was very friendly and helpful. He made the visit extremely enjoyable. My boys had a lot of fun and that is all that matters. read more

The wheel fell off my brothers cart, right in front of me. Sparks flying, very dangerous!!! Asked for another race and was told no, by Morning manager Liam. Should have asked for a refund, seems unlikely when they wouldn't give you another race. WHEN I ASKED HOW OFTEN THE WHEEL FALLS OFF THEY WOULDN'T ANSWER ME. It fell off at full speed!! You take your safety into your own hands here. They absolve themselves of liabilty. Just glad nothing happened. If cart had flipped could have been very different outcome. read more

It's very hard to celebrate a boys 10th Bday, because of the age. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out where to host this party, but most were too child-like. K1 was the final choice, and it was absolutely perfect. Every mother at the event shared their similar amazement with me, and spoke of hosting their next event here. Jake Guzman was the manager on duty, and he was assigned to our party. He was extremely attentive, and made good on every single request I made (could my son go first in the race? Could you get more napkins? Etc.) The entire event was costly, but they provided so much to us that it was worth every penny. Every child got a drink from their cafe, which was a solid 12 - 16 oz canned or bottled beverages of their choice. Each kid got their own T-shirt, too. They brought up pizzas for us, and provided plates, napkins, and cake knives/utensils. There was an entire room dedicated to us, split into two: one side had windows overlooking the track, the other had a widescreen TV with tables. Once I got there, someone took all the gift bags we'd brought and secured it for us in the back of the cafe. They got all the gifts set up on a table in our room, too. Each racer was given detailed instructions on how to drive and follow their flag system, and they have medals to the winners (top three). Everyone got a certificate detailing their times and places, and there was a ceremony reviewing the results at the end with a winners platform. They even took pictures for me and emailed them to me - which I received on the ride home! Quick! Everyone was so incredibly friendly at this place, and I had fun, spontaneous, casual convos with workers NOT assigned to my party during the races. If there were a wreck (& with kids in carts, there will be accidents), the ENTIRE track came to a screeching halt. I saw five or more workers enter the track to check on the accident, and make sure the kids nerves weren't frayed (in such a safe way!) I was so surprised by the degree of perfection we got out of this event. From the moment I scheduled it, to the reminder a day prior, to actual execution. I cannot recommend this place any higher, and am disappointed that my word choices aren't reflecting the awesomeness sufficiently. A+++! read more

We watched other parties go multiple times on the karts, sometimes even with space to let other people join their races. After we waited 3 hours, we decided not to wait any longer because we were told it might be another hour. Then we went to get refunds, a manager then told us they could bump us up and get into a race in 30 minutes, we declined. They weren't even able to give us a 100% refund. If you go here, you will have fun. The price to have that fun however will be high. The cashiers at the front immediately start pushing their race packages. You will be guilted into at least 3 races. The atmosphere is fun to look at, and they are very efficient at getting through the races. Not all cars are created equal though. Decided to do go kart racing for my friend's birthday. It's pricey but luckily he got a special rate for his b-day. They told us it was going to be a 2 hour wait due to a birthday party, but it was maybe 45 minutes. There were 4 of us on the track together and I came in 4th place. My best time was lap 9 of 14. I got progressively quicker for laps 1-9. I think I would have liked some practice laps to get familiar with the track. I am having some unexpected soreness the day after. While I am glad we went (we've been talking about it for years), I don't have a strong desire to return. read more

We have been coming to K1 for about a year and love it! It is a great place for kids and adults to enjoy the speed of the track and enjoy life! The staff there is excellent! Always willing to help and make sure you have a good experience! And the staff connects so well with the kids that it makes them want to keep coming back! AND they are making some awesome changes to make it an even better experience! I have recommended K1 to many and will keep doing so! Racing the karts is fun. The kart I was in broke down after two laps. After they stopped everyone and got me a new one the next one broke down again at the very end. When I went to speak with the manager he was not very sympathetic or friendly. Even though I was being very nice in my complaint he made excuses then only gave me a free race when I asked and was not apologetic at all. I was very unimpressed with he customer service. Having to wait nearly an hour for a ten minute race was also kind of a let down. read more

Having only raced here once at a corporate event it's hard to say my visit was a standard one. Our group had a lot of competitive minds and we really pushed each other in our races. So this review will be more about the carts and the service. The carts themselves are definitely agile and after getting the tires warm will turn on a dime. Once I realized the car would not flip over I was able to pull off some crazy maneuvers getting around some of our slower team members and the 2 times I took hard slams I barely felt them. Although our group had two carts go down, my cart performed great. The customer service was on par for what I expected. There were no delays, the staff was friendly, and they answered any questions we had. The meeting room was a bit worse for wear and a bit out dated but it worked for what we wanted to do. All in all not a bad place for a corporate event. My only warning is if you race hard you will definitely feel it the next day. I was sore all over from competing with my peers. read more
