Broken phone during race
Amin M.

Had a terrible experience at K1 Speed Irvine. A family member's phone was destroyed on the track, and the manager, Seth, showed zero empathy or professionalism. He claimed there were signs everywhere telling guests to secure phones -- but there were none, and staff never warned us. When we tried to explain the issue so it doesn't happen to others, he got defensive and told us to leave instead of addressing the problem. Very disappointing and unprofessional. Definitely don't recommend going to Irvine location. I hope their corporate pays serious attention to this horrible customer experience as it can cause a lot of harm and dissatisfaction.

This is a fun activity for kids around 7 years and older as there is a height limit. There are 2 go kart race tracks. One for juniors and one for older teens and adults. There are long wait periods on the weekends and there is an arcade with few games to keep you occupied while you wait. The staff at the front desk are friendly. However the staff at the tracks can be grumpy and mean. There are no instructions given to you at all when you enter, you just sit down and hope for the best! Helmets are provided - they are stinky and gross. But they do give you a head sleeve to wear under your helmet.

This was my first time trying go cart racing and it was good and bad. K1 Speed is an indoor go cart racing chain with over 90 locations. The location of this K1 is in Irvine, CA and they have fully electric go karts. I came here for a private event, which is the best way to go, because we had the place to ourselves, a nice buffet, and plenty of drinks. When we first arrived, we all had to sign waivers, and then were given wristbands and drink tickets. This process took awhile because the line I was in moved very slowly. Then, one of the workers went over the rules and the meanings of each colored flag. Next, were able to select helmets, however, they were out of small helmets so I had to squeeze into an XS. Finally, we were buckled into our karts. We had to wait quite a while until we got to race because there were two rows ahead of us. Once it was our turn to race, we went on the track and drove 13 laps. Driving the go karts on the main track was pretty fun! I was hit once, but it wasn't too bad. They had a second track that was smaller and had more turns. I was the last kart in the row and after everyone got on the track, my kart wouldn't go. They had not turned my kart on! After they turned on the car and the system loaded, I was able to join the other drivers on the track. The second course had a lot more turns and I was able to drift more. Towards the end of the race, a cart in front of me stopped and another kart crashed into me at full speed. The impact was so strong, my head was completely shaken and my bottom teeth pushed against my top teeth. Even over a day later, the back of my head still has pain. A lady that I had crashed into injured her thigh. After the major crash, I was done racing. In addition to the racing, we had a Mexican (Cinco de Mayo) themed buffet with a delicious salad, black beans, rice, tortillas, chicken and beef or pork, and chips and salsa. The food was good, especially the salad and chips. We were also given drink tickets for alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks, which was really generous. The staff provided good service. The check-in process went smoothly, although a bit slow. The staff at the racing area were helpful and informative. The staff at the bar/food area were great. The place is decorated like a race track and there is a podium for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Although the K1 go kart racing is somewhat dangerous, if you don't get into a severe crash, it can be a very fun experience.

The outside doesn't give it justice on what is on the inside, but don't judge the book by its cover. Walking in was awesome the place looked cool and it's a great place to bring kids. First time for my son and he had a blast. The employees there answered questions and helped out with the first timers regard the track and the rules. They provide you with safety tips and of course a helmet for racing. A head sock it something you need to purchase with the anual membership of 8$ bucks. They all you need to choose is how many races and wait for your name to get called to race. Foood and arcade is available while you wait. Over all a fun experience.

How tall do you have to be?

Hello, Cerrissa! You have to be at least 48" (4') tall to drive the Junior Karts, and 58" (4'10") to drive the Adult Karts. See you at the track!

When the place is rented out, is there a way you all can post that instead of us driving down and finding out we cannot race due to large groups?

Hello B.C.! We're so sorry we were closed for a private event when you visited. Yes, we've always… Read more

Do I need to have an appointment ? Can I directly walk in?

Yes. You can walk in. Sometimes it's busy so you might want to RSVP online. Have to RSVP for a party or group.

So many bad reviews. Is this what I should expect when we come by? What should we do to avoid rude customer service and how many hours early should we arrive before our races begin?

Does the irvine location still offer the Tuesday buy 2 races get 1 free?

Hello Naoki! Yes, at this time of writing we are offering the Buy 2 Get 1 Free race special on Tuesdays. See you at the track!

What is the estimated wait time if we arrive pre opening?just a rough estimate

Depends if they have reservations to be honest. Shouldn't take long once they set up.

Would a party of 2 be placed into a race quickly if we arrive pre-opening on a Sunday?

Hello Mish! We can't guarantee it'll be super quick (based on how many others have the same idea that day) but that's definitely one of the best strategies for shortening your wait time. Best of luck!

Is the VR Zone Portal open now?

Hello Dary! We're sorry, but our VR Zone is still currently closed at this moment. We're hoping to open it again soon!

How much is private group reservation of like 8 people?

Best to call. They are usually booked up.

Can we bring our own helmet?

Yes you can. Using the supplied helmets gross me out so I have always brought my own. Also nice because you don't need to wear the balaclava (head sock)

Is their anyone one here who has had difficulties getting in touch with a customer service representative when trying to find answers to some questions?

Luis, we'd love to help answer any questions you have. Simply ask us here, give us a call, or send an email to info@k1speed.com! Thank you!

How much for one ride and how old to be to play the game?

Only

Does one race for $22.95 mean just one loop around? How long does one race go for?

Hey Jessica! Thanks for your interest! One race is 12 laps around the track. The duration depends on the speed of the fastest driver and whether there are any slow caution periods during the race. But typically it's between 6-10 minutes per race.… Read more

It's always clean, there are many decent fast meal options, and it feels relaxing under the palm trees on springy days. Inside, you have so many options to game--from Mario Brothers to Space Invaders. You can fall down a video game rabbit hole here. Also, the bumper cars are lit up and Lazer Tag is calling all players. There's a cafeteria-style "common hall" serving up pizza, nachos, hot dogs, fries, and bevvies. Outside, the bumper boats are a refreshing way to cool down. You can see that the staff works hard at maintaining the grounds. There's always someone working on the many pools and water features when I go. Overall, the greens are in good shape. Sure, a ball may stick, but it's a game. Mulligans and astro turf hiccups are par for this course. Want to practice random kindness? If you see a bottle on the ground, feel free to recycle in the receptacle placed by the tee box. It's nice that they thought to have as many receptacles as they did. It really helps keep the place tidy. The staff is young & laid back yet attentive. One clean sweep across all 4 courses at the opening of each AM shift, however, could help keep it 100% litter-free. See, I warned you--I had nothing but good things to say about Camelot Golfland. Will be back! Once I get the go again from my Sir Lancelot to brave the journey to Anaheim, we'll return for a 6-minute tournament to ride the Go Carts like chariots.

Since I knew I would be there all weekend, I convinced two of my friends to join me in the go kart shenanigans. Armahni(?) and his girlfriend took us around the lake and alongside the canal for an hour or so ride. The best part was when we had the chance to "put the pedal to the medal" (as my grandmother would say lol) and race each other. To actually be able to ride the karts outdoors instead of indoors, and not be on a track made the experience even better. Good times! If you haven't done this yet, you're missing out! : )

We arrived early for Valentine's Day to do something fun with our sons and were second in line. From the start, the process was confusing--waivers and payment were handled separately, and the waiver attendant wasn't able to answer our questions and redirected us to the payment rep, who was moving up and down the line asking about reservations. After watching three rounds of racers go ahead of us, we finally asked what was going on. That's when we learned that people with reservations are allowed to cut the line. Totally understandable--but this was never communicated to us. It would have helped immensely to know upfront that there's a reservation system with priority access, or to have a separate line for reserved guests. We weren't the only ones feeling confused. Once we asked, the rep kindly explained the situation, which we appreciated. However, she couldn't give us a clear estimate--just that it might be another 30 minutes... or more. It would have been very helpful to know all of this off top instead of being passed by multiple times. By that point, we had already been waiting an hour, believing we were second in line. The uncertainty was confusing and disappointing, especially for our kids. Ultimately, we decided to leave after losing over an hour, hoping and wondering what was happening. It was heartbreaking for our boys. I do want to say--the owner's energy was amazing. His excitement and passion are honestly what kept us waiting as long as we did. We love supporting small businesses, and that positive energy really matters. With clearer communication and better organization, this could be such a smoother and more enjoyable experience for everyone. I truly hope that feedback helps, because the concept and vibe have so much potential.

Once you are in the car, it is simple just steer and hit the gas. The track keeps you on course, so it is stress free even if you are not the best driver. That said, the ride itself is pretty basic and has not changed much over the years. It is nostalgic, but compared to newer attractions, it can feel a little outdated. Still, if you are looking for a chill ride or visiting with kids, it is a solid choice. Overall, not a must do thrill ride, but a fun classic that is worth experiencing at least once.

But, with that said, when we are here with my kids or nieces & nephews, seeing the joy on their facing knowing that they are 'actually driving' their own cars reminds me of why a ride like this exists. For kids who have never experienced that sensation beyond a video game, it's unbelievable. So if you have kids, absolutely go on Autopia.
