Speaks for itself
Malina C.

When I first drove in and parked, I wasn't sure the propped open doors was the front entrance. The place kind of looks like a church hall, where you'd go to eat lunch after service. It was pretty barren inside except for some framed pictures on the wall and a few chairs. It did smell great though, like they were burning some incense. After placing my order, it took about 15 minutes before it was ready. I have no issue with that, but if I was in a hurry I'd probably order ahead and pick up. Ordered the Papa bowl #1 with Galbi (bone-in beef, like flanken ribs). The bowl comes with rice, lightly cooked fresh vegetables (carrots, zucchini, broccoli) that still has a little crunch, but not raw. Also comes with a side of kimchi and japchae (Korean thin noodle made from sweet potato). It also came with two fried dumplings, but when I asked if it was pork she said it did have pork inside and she opted to give me an extra scoop of japchae instead, which I was excited about. Loved the beef, it was so tender and marinated and seasoned well. The marinade has a slight sweetness to it that goes great with the meat. Wish they drizzled some of the marinade or had an accompanying sauce to go with it, because the bowl was very dry and had no sauce. Even adding the kimchi was not enough. The japchae turned out to be just noodles, sautéed in sesame oil and sprinkled with sesame seeds. It didn't have much flavor other than the sesame oil. I have had japchae in other restaurants and they usually have vegetables and are seasoned well. Other than that, it was a nice accompaniment. Overall, I thought the meat was delicious and you can tell that they really take pride in their meat. The chicken looked really tasty and I'll come back to try that next time. Also the Mama plates come with some of the Korean side dishes that the Papa bowl doesn't come with so that would also be great to try out. The lady who took my order, Kelly, was very kind and sweet. She gave me and another lady waiting for our food some grand opening gifts: a beautiful scarf and a couple of packaged face masks.

We ordered the Deluxe Meal, is delicious . A little spicy for me but still delicious! This place is a must try. The service is friendly, clean place, the wait was a bit long, but worth the wait. The kimchi is so delicious, everything is delicious!!

DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS SPOT!! Very authentic Korean food and the people who run this are so adorable. They are incredibly sweet and hospitable. I just wish I found this place sooner. The food hits the spot. We ordered the Deluxe and it does not miss. Everything is freshly prepared and the flavors are phenomenal. I just wish they had places like this in SGV. I will definitely be back whenever I'm in the area.

This place is definitely a hidden gem-- from the service to the food, I cannot recommend it enough. To start, the owner was such a sweetheart! She really made me want to come back before I even tried the food. Plus, I called ahead, but it only took 10 minutes for my food to be ready. Which is crazy, considering how good the food is! Onto the food. We got the deluxe box and, oh my goodness, when she handed us the box I was blown away. The pictures don't do it justice, it's a great portion for the price. It was absolutely delicious-- the bolgogi is very very good in particular. We'll definitely be back!

At first, I felt apprehensive going inside the building, but I was greeted and treated really well! I got a nice green tea, and I ordered the bulgogi and galbi bowls. For about $10 each, it was a good, sizable, and delicious meal! Plenty of veggies and the meat was very well seasoned! It was very filling, the meat was tender and a little sweet and savory, and the veggies were nicely cooked but still had a satisfying crunch. Definitely stop by and try it sometime!

Mama Meal #1 - Beef

i was excited to try this place based on the reviews but i was a bit underwhelmed by my experience. Finding the place was not difficult, the place looks ok, iits adjacent to a residential area. Inside there is a good sized sitting area which can probably potentially serve dine in but Its a "to go" only restaurant. Food was underwhelming. I ordered the mama meal so I can taste their banchan sides. The meal I chose was supposed to have the kalbi and bulgogi meats, but unfortunately I was notified after ordering p and paying that they only had kalbi so i said ok they can double the kalbi. When I got my food, I was pleased with the presentation but the meat quantity was disappointing, it looked like I only received a portion of meat, not two. Food taste was average, a bit under seasoned. The kalbi was not tender, at all. The japchae noodles were overcooked and again, not seasoned. The kimchi was also disappointing. I paid almost $25 (with a drink) for this meal and I wished I should have just went to my go to AYCE korean bbq place. The only saving grace for me was the service. I was served complementary hot green tea while I was waiting for my food. Otherwise, I would rate a star less. I hope the owner is paying attention.

#1 Papa Bowl Beef Bulgogi.

Their customer service is lovely, the lady who takes your order always has a pleasant conversation with me. As for the bowl, the vegetables are perfectly steamed, they are soft but still have crunch. The japchae and dumplings are flavorful. The rice is delicious on its own, I tend to add soy sauce to my rice but their rice doesn't need it. The bulgogi is delicious and they give you a good portion. Overall their food is appetizing and it's my go to lunch now.

Mama's deluxe meal. Supposed to be for 2 people. Could easily feed 3 adults, maybe 4 kids haha

Presentation and packaging 5 Taste 5 Portion 5 Smell 5 Service 5 Close to my job 5 I love finding little gems and this place is one of them! Highly recommend if your around town or wanna try korean food.

This place is delicious! The people working here are so kind! After I left with my order a woman came and offered me some ice water. Such a kind gesture on a hot day. I wish there was a dine in option so I can taste it fresh had to drive 30 min smelling delicious food. I got the mama meal 1 to try all the sides. Did not disappoint! Also best kimchi I've had!

This will definitely be my go to spot for Korean food in this area! I ate the bibimbap and felt satisfied and wanting for more afterwards. This dish truly defines a well balanced meal. My mother had Papa Bowl #1 and she was surprised by the portion size. The meats were marinated well and it had the authentic bulgogi taste we love which is savory, salty, and sweet. The owners were very awesome and friendly! They greeted us right away, we received free gifts of rice cakes and my mom got a scarf, and they adjusted my little bro's order of Mama Meal #3 by substituting the veggies and kimchi with all rice. I will definitely be coming back! :)

The food smelled so good that I forgot to take a picture before I started devouring it. I think I ordered the Mama bowl #2.

My wife and I moved to San Bernardino a couple of years ago. The food here rivals what you would find in K-town or Sawtelle in LA. The bulgogi is delicious (the spice level is no joke), the veggies are crisp and fresh, the japchae is juicy. The people who run the place are incredibly welcoming and sweet people. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

The food was amazing!! The staff was also so nice!! I'll definitely be going back!

Food was amazing I'll definitely be going back! The staff was also super nice!! They offered me ice water while I waited for the food to be ready!

What's left of a papa bowl with galbi beef

Tastes like a home meal. Warm, cozy, really nice disposable chop sticks, a good hefty portion. It was on the saltier side but the kimchi was top notch. I enjoyed my japchae with my pap bowl with galbi. The veggies were good and made it light and not super heavy. And of course service was friendly!!

Honestly, it's not the worst Korean food you'll ever eat, but it's also not somewhere I'd go out of my way for. Living in San Bernardino, there are only a couple of Korean food options around, so if you're craving Korean food and don't feel like driving far, Myung Ga will satisfy the craving. Some dishes are pretty good, while others are just okay. Their tofu soup is decent, but I think it needs more seasoning and a deeper, richer flavor. The banchan (Korean side dishes) are actually pretty good. Over the years, I've tried quite a few things here. The kimchi stew, bibimbap, and short ribs are some of the better choices. My least favorites have been the bulgogi, cold noodles, and kimchi pancake. Of course, everyone has different tastes, especially when it comes to Korean food. But to me, the cooking here feels a little old-school and could use an update to appeal more to the younger generation. I like Korean food with bold, deep flavors, and a lot of the dishes here taste too "seum-seum-ha-da" (슴슴하다) -- a Korean way of saying the food is mild, lightly seasoned, or a little bland. Overall, 3.5/5. Not bad, not amazing, but when the Korean food craving hits and you don't want to make the drive out of San Bernardino, it gets the job done.

Don't want to be sweating while you're eating. Coming from highland/redlands, I am happy that there is a ayce kbbq spot in close proximity. Starting with cons: the parking is absolutely terrible. Parking spots are cramped and there's simple not enough spaces, especially during peak times. Pros: now as a long time ayce bbq lover, I understand that red castle quality is not top tier and I don't expect it to be when I go. I view red castle as an affordable joint to get my brisket and beef belly fix, which are the only two items that I basically get. It's odd reading about others experience with service, because every time I go, the service is always fast. I don't need to ask for the grill change because they are fully staffed and consistently checking in. Sure, the hospitality could improve a little but realize what you're going in there for. To stuff ya face! If you're coming here and comparing this place to other kbbq joints, you'll surely be let down. But to enjoy ayce protein for ~25 bucks without having to clean and prep a solid meal, many would realize the true gem that is Red Castle. I remember when their ayce was 13-15 bucks when they opened. Those were the days. I'm also glad that they allow single dining during the week. Not something that I'm able to take advantage of most of the time bc of work but I'm glad it's offered. To all the kbbq snobs (I'm one of them still). Go pay 40 for ayce somewhere else and be happy. Red castle is my go to for a quick fix that is close to home and affordable.

Made several attempts to flag our server which seemed flustered and overwhelmed just for ordering extra meats and replenishing our beverages was such a huge in convenience. For KBBQ definitely in this order I'd say .. local restaurants I'd rather go to Wang Cho in riverside or chino hills U grille 2 spots in Rancho Cucamonga and As far as ayce self serve Koreana grille Riversde . If you wanna travel out hit up Orange County , Rowland heights , LA , SGV for the real deal . The banchan was delicious and had a nice variety, including radish stem kimchi, cucumber kimchi, fish cakes, soybean paste with nuts, fried eggplant, and more. Everything tasted fresh and well made. The soybean stew was packed with flavor and had potatoes, onions, and zucchini--super comforting. The short ribs were juicy and flavorful, especially with a side of rice. The pork cutlet was perfectly crispy, and the dipping sauce added just the right touch of sweetness. Even the salad was good, with a dressing that wasn't too overpowering. They serve hot barley tea and water, and you can buy canned soft drinks if you want something else. Everything we had was delicious--honestly, there wasn't anything I didn't like. Prices were fair, and the customer service was great. Our waitress checked on us several times to make sure we were good and even showed us how to make rice porridge using the hot barley tea and the crispy rice at the bottom of the pot, which ended up being really good too. The inside of the restaurant is very clean, well-lit, and has lots of natural color (tans, brown). It appears to have been recently remodeled. There is plenty of seating and open space. When we asked what they could do, the only options were $40 off the bill or we could send them the bill for getting the shoes professionally cleaned. At that point, we just took the $40 off and left. We didn't want to have to keep going back and forth with them, especially when the manager wasn't even willing to properly look underneath the grill.
