He just took my skates and ID, and then looked them over a number of times, then he mumbled something about store credit from the register (about 10 feet away), to which I replied "no" to. He then handed me a receipt for $10 in store credit. When I told him I didn't want store credit, he took offense and claimed that he was "very clear" with me. Side note; we wouldn't be having that conversation if he had been very clear with me. I then asked him if for cash or check instead of the store credit, because I had no need of store credit. He said he couldn't for anything under $10, which is the amount he arbitrarily came up with....like I said, sketchy used car salesman. I would avoid this place of business if at all possible.

This place has also bailed me out more times than I can count when it comes to "gear failures" while playing at Schwans or Fogarty. Very nice hockey gear selection from solid skates, used and new, to the gear itself. Solid mix of new gear and used gear, along with almost all the accessories. A few items can't be found here (hard cover skate fenders, or feet guards for blocking shots), some visor items and compression/performance apparel. However, the major items are almost always covered - stick,s skates, shinnies, cup, breezers, elbows, shoulder pads, buckets and bags. If you're looking for somewhere to get into the sport, this is a great place to start and get your hands on the beginner gear with the guidance of a great staff and at a solid price. Lets face it, hockey is an expensive sport and if you're just getting into it, the price alone can scare you away. Stop here first and try things out before moving on to getting new, top of the line gear. Skate sharpening... it's a bit spendy for the standard, $4.50 I think. But, I've NEVER had my skates messed up here, and the guys ALWAYS check what kind of sharpen I want, and at what setting. That in itself is reason enough for me to spend more on the sharpen. If you have questions on what kind of sharpening to get, or what setting, they can answer them and get you squared away. For other sports, they do have a seasonal rotation that is typically well stocked. Overall, great store, solid location next to my most visited rinks, great staff, and the inventory is normally adequate for my needs.

I've got antique store in my blood (legitimately, not a turn of phrase: my paternal grandma used to own one), so I'm drawn to this kind of place, especially as thrifting/buying used is more environmentally-friendly (and we as a society desperately need to shift gears away from fast fashion). Immediately upon entry I glimpsed the signs that this place was inclusive of me and those like me. The pride flag, the genderless toilets marked humorously with "whatever" signs. I was drawn in. You can tell that a lot of the consignment owners put a good deal of effort into making each of their "cubicles" stand out and have individuality that matches their brand. Seeing as I was here at the tail end of September, that meant many of the booths were spooky-themed and/or had Halloween items for sale. Dangerous for anyone who's a fan of the holiday. I definitely plan to come back AFTER Halloween and see what Christmas decorations take their place! It'll probably feel like an entirely different experience dependent on the season! Anyway, the cool thing about a place like this (if you've never been to one) is that you don't have to worry about keeping track of which store you picked up what item from. They have tags on each item so the employee at the checkout counter can sort all that for you and collect a single amount from you to distribute appropriately among their consignment sellers. I noticed they have baskets you can grab to help you shop (also dangerous, lol) because this place is QUITE expansive and winding. Be sure to check around each nook and cranny to see it all! (But also keep in mind, stock will always be rotating, so there'll always be new things to see.) There's lots of clothes and apparel accessories, of course, but also lots of home decor items, media like books, CDs, VHS, records, etc., toys and more. Really you gotta go see it for yourself. You'll be wandering about in something akin to awe! I would say the prices are okay. This isn't a place you're going to find big bargains. But you won't get gouged either. It's a place to discover something from your childhood and reclaim it for a reasonable finder's fee, essentially. Long story short, I killed more than forty-five minutes here, well over what I needed, hahaha, and came out with a couple cute clown-themed things to add to my growing collection. Hooray! Also neat is that they have a coffee shop in the back that also serves things like pastries and sodas for a very reasonable price. This area is spacious with lots of seating; clearly it's meant as a place to gather and hangout with friends. They even had an NES set up on a TV to play if you wanted. Very queer-friendly. After hearing great things about this place, I took it in for an estimate and was shocked that it was less than half of the other place. It was a major job that required new parts. A person stopped me (it appeared that she was a manager or perhaps the owner) and I kindly explained that I wasn't able to find anything that would fit me. I was bit embarrassed and self conscious (she was very small/fit and though I know that I work out and eat healthy, I still feel self-conscious about my size in situations like this) but not rude. I felt like she didn't hear me and barely acknowledged my response. I left feeling confused and embarrassed. For goodness sake, I shop in the regular sizes and at other boutiques... and don't think anyone should be embarrassed to shop for clothing in their size. I haven't been back unfortunately because of this experience. I've provided feedback via social media as well as to a manager to consider adding larger sizes to their inventory. I have to say I enjoyed visiting this large store. I am considering joining the reward program for the future.
