This place was just okay for me. We drove quite a way to try it out and I probably wouldn't come back. I ordered the Double meat combo. Ribs, pulled pork, with mac and cheese and okra. The meats were well seasoned but the pork was dry. The Bbq sauces were all on the sweet side for me but tasted okay. Mac and cheese was heavy on a clove flavor and not anything I'd order again plus it was kinda dry and cold. The okra was well prepared but it would have been nice if it was hotter. Corn muffin felt like it came straight out of the fridge. Staff asked me if I wanted butter or honey and I had to hold back from being a smart Alex and ask for hot butter to warm my muffin. I have to update this review because our experience was so different this time! We were heading to Romeo and we passed k block and I thought we should give it another try. Our original experience was not bad by any means but they had just been featured on the news and were swamped with carry out orders. They were out of a lot of stuff and the service could not keep up with demand. So I figured today may be different. And it was! We got here on the earlier side. We were fortunate to get the last two seats at the bar. The bar area was very busy but the other side of the restaurant wasn't. We sat down and we were greeted by Collette, our amazing Bartender! I hope management knows what a gem this one is! She knew every single person's name at the bar! She was chipper and sarcastic and funny! By the time we left I knew about her husband, her dogs, her favorite beer, and that her name might have been Star (which would have meant she had to become an erotic dancer) or Jennifer (which would have made her a kindergarten teacher). She was efficient too. She was training someone and still kept up with the busy demands. They didn't have a huge assortment of beer on tap but they had a good variety. Now for the food. Collette recommended getting the tray and splitting it. You get to try all of the meats that way. We both decided on the double trouble. I got pulled pork and brisket. He got pulled pork and ribs. They were out of ribs last time we were here so we had not had them. The brisket was very fatty last time too. This time the ribs were delicious and meaty. The pork was so good that I ate it naked. The brisket was incredible. His was a bit fatty but mine was perfect. I chose to smashed potatoes and coleslaw as my sides. He got the baked beans and potato salad. The baked beans had a sweet flavor to them. The coleslaw was unique. It was most definitely homemade. And the potatoes were delicious, smooth, and creamy. We loved the atmosphere here and will absolutely be back! If you're venturing up past 27 mile and don't feel like waiting for a table at Brown Iron, give this place a try. My family and I went there and the owner asked if he could take a photo of my family for the facebook page. We agreed and stood in front of their sign for the photo. Unfortunately our eyes were closed in the photo. Again I am there with my SON! My 15 year old son!! The caption they chose to use implied that we were stoned and had just visited the local dispensary. They called the post "Monday Munchies" . There is nothing I value more than being a good mother. First, let me say, our food was delicious. I had the chicken and waffle sandwich and it was amazing. This was our first time in. They are losing a star because the service was not good. We had to go get drinks from the bar ourselves because our waitress kept forgetting to bring them. She was not attentive at all and got some of our orders wrong, which the owner was quick to fix. Also, we all ordered brisket items from the menu and 15 minutes later our waitress returned to say they were out of brisket so we had to change our orders, then walked off before we could place a new order. It's like a pizza place running out of pizza. They said it was due to large catering orders. But I would think they would have known that ahead, since it was for a grad party, and they should have been better prepared. We enjoyed a real nice meal. We happened to read the reviews on yelp and we thought we are in the area let's give it a try. The restaurant is in a strip plaza not a fancy place but we went to eat. The interior was clean and inviting. The time that we arrived was around 3:30 in the afternoon so just in time for happy hr. We split the Pitplatter and a cup of gumbo. This new place delivers great barbecue with friendly service. I tried the burnt ends which were excellent, smoky and rich. The pulled pork had a good flavor, but it wasn't pulled. Chopped up pulled pork isn't my favorite... The pork rind appetizer was impressive! It arrives to the table freshly crackling and served with mildly spicy melted queso cheese dip. Picked up carryout recently. Employee helping was really friendly. Carryout was prepared on time, but I was unhappy with the food. Ordered hush puppies. They were dry and lacked any corn flavor. The side sauce was much needed. Also ordered the BBQ Nachos with pulled chicken. Chicken had great flavor, but the nachos lacked toppings! So little con queso, BBQ sauce or cilantro cream. Salsa is good! Could definitely use some beans or corn, especially if someone doesn't want to add meat. And the lettuce, just get rid of it! Unless it's going to be shredded on top, it's difficult and weird to eat leaves of lettuce with nachos. The gumbo yaya was OK as was the quesadilla with brisket although it was skimpy on the brisket and the tortilla was flimsy (could use a little time on a grill). The poblano chilis were missing, too. So much potential, but there are menu execution issues that need to be addressed. Probably won't return. read more

My wife and I are pretty picky BBQ people, and we had an excellent meal on a Thursday evening at K-Blocks in Washington Twp. My wife ordered burnt ends and ribs, with sides of the green chili street corn and baked beans. 10 oz. prime rib was on special (16.50 with two sides) for happy hour, so I had to go with that after our server, Star, highly recommended it. All the food was absolutely delicious. The ribs and ends were perfectly balanced - the meat was the star, not the smoke or rub. The prime rib was better than most steakhouses serve for 30+ dollars. It was moist and flavorful, a great cut without a ton of un-rendered fat. Star was spot on with her recommendations for sides - everything was amazing. We decided to give K-Blocks Fire Pit BBQ a try for the first time and are so glad that we did! We were surprised to find that there was no wait for a table at 6 PM on a Friday night and were seated immediately as we arrived. Our table ordered the BBQ Nachos with pulled chicken as an appetizer and thoroughly enjoyed them. The nachos came topped with jalapeno, queso, pico de gallo, lettuce, BBQ sauce, and cilantro cream. We found the nachos to be extremely tasty. Typically we don't enjoy shredded lettuce on our nachos because it usually gets wilted, but because everything warm was underneath, it worked out perfectly. We would absolutely order the nachos again. We also tried the Brisket Tacos and the pulled pork sandwich with sides of pit beans, cornbread, and salad. The brisket tacos were delicious and the pulled pork sandwich was piled high with meat. Both were wonderful and we would be delighted to have them again. The pit beans were flavorful and we found them equally delicious, but unfortunately found the other side dishes to be not as great. The salad and cornbread felt like an afterthought; both, while okay, were nothing we would be excited to try again. The salad was just a standard side salad of lettuce, tomato, and cucumber. We felt that the salad could have benefited from some croutons or cheese, or possibly some sort of BBQ topping (bacon?). The cornbread came to the table cold and wrapped in Saran wrap as if it were made early in the day, wrapped up, and forgotten about. It would have benefited from being warmed up and served with butter. It wasn't terrible, but it did taste a bit dry and cold. We finished our meal with a shared slice of pecan pie, and let me tell you, it was out of this world. It was topped with candied pecans that were soft, big, and delicious. The pie itself was flavorful, not too sweet, and served with whipped cream. Hours later we were questioning why we didn't order a second slice to go. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at K-Blocks and would love to return. I'd suggest to management that some of the side dishes get a bit more love, as they did feel like an afterthought to the delicious BBQ. K-Blocks definitely has the BBQ down and the only improvements I can think of would be the side dishes. I'd definitely suggest giving K-Blocks a try. read more

Last night we went to K Block's Fire Pit BBQ in Washington twp & OMG it was outstanding. We had 6 different apps & gumbo - ALL were so good. I highly recommend the shrimp & grits especially for those who hate grits, you will change your mind! Also tried all the smoked meats & fantastic inhouse made sauces, was not disappointed in anything. We all went home full with plenty of leftovers. Also had the apple cobbler, so good.
