Ok finally a mall place that does bubble tea right…read more Over the past few weeks, I've been trying to find a decent cup of milk tea that's outside of Chinatown. Chinatown is not the cleanest place to be and really nothing special about Chinatown Calgary. I work in Banff and the Asian shop in Banff didn't use real brewed tea , only powder and they only have small size cups. The next time I went to Southcentre and it was the worst, they made milk tea into a slush that should be fucking illegal. I've seen that the Yogen Fruz at Chinook does bubble tea so when I saw that this location also has it I decided to give mall bubble tea another try. This location uses real brewed tea for all its bubble drink selections, and the bubbles were well cooked and soft as it should be. They still use a blender, not a shaker but its one of those magic bullet type blenders Go for the large size, all bubble tea should be enjoyed in a large size. I used to make bubble tea at Asian Buffet and for milk tea specifically the recipe and size of the shaker is designed for large size. If someone orders regular size then I always have one of the restaurant servers begging for the good quarter of a cup that remains in the shaker after I pour out the drink. So you might as well as have every last drop of it. Besides, their small size cup( they have their cup sizes on display) is like kids size, it's way too small. They have soft plastic cups and plastic film lids which makes the final product look authentic. Many places, restaurants included.. just feel its easier to slap on a dome lid, that's fair, but it's not fun. It's way more fun to stab the straw into the drink. I would suggest that they get colourful straws instead of clear plastic ones. Clear ones are too plain. There's something special about choosing the colour of the straw. Oh well I'm sure that when their bubble tea sales increase( because now I think these drinks are relatively new and their main focus is still on yogurt) maybe if more people order bubble tea then they will provide colourful straws. Of course, the main focus here is on yogurt and my brother got a medium blueberry. At this location you can get any type of bubble as a yogurt topping. They have the regular toppings as well. Their yogurt, I mean some people say its too expensive if they are paying $5 for a small size but you see, I work in Banff and I'll tell you what's really expensive in regards to frozen yogurt . In Banff, there is this self serve yogurt place( fun..right.. but the annoying thing was that they charged by weight and not by size of cup. I put maybe about the amount of a medium cup at Yogen Fruz in the self serve place and it came to $8. Toppings are extra on top of that cost. At Yogen Fruz you can get a large size for less than $8. At least here you know how much yogurt you are getting and exactly how much it costs beforehand. Also they have Hong Kong waffles and hard ice cream scoops if yogurt isn't your thing. The only suggestion I have for them is I live far from here, but since their bubble tea is good I will go to the Chinook location which.. at the rate they are renovating their food court.. it will be about 5 years before they open and I can review that location.

As a chef with many years of experience, I rarely feel compelled to write a review this direct, but…read morethis visit truly warrants it. My experience at this Italian restaurant was, unfortunately, one of the most disappointing I've had in Canada. The risotto --a dish that demands respect, technique, and precision-- arrived in a state completely opposite to what it should be. Instead of the expected al dente grain with a creamy, cohesive texture, I was served overcooked rice, mushy and without character. At that point, it ceases to be risotto; it becomes simply poorly executed rice. The shrimp, an ingredient that requires careful timing and delicate handling, were overcooked to the point of losing their natural sweetness, juiciness, and distinctive texture. Seafood treated this way can only reflect a lack of attention and skill. The fondue was perhaps the most confusing part of the night. Far from being a well-balanced preparation, it resembled a thick, heavy sauce, almost like a bechamel with cheese. And although they attempted to elevate the dish by adding truffle, no amount of truffle can disguise a mediocre product or justify an inflated price. As a culinary professional, I understand that not every day in a kitchen is perfect, but the lack of technique, execution, and respect for ingredients here was evident. I would like to thank them --ironically-- for giving me one of the worst culinary experiences I've had in Canada. Certainly a visit I will not repeat.

Had dinner here before my flight home. It's a huge place and accommodates a lot of people. Our…read moreserver was super kind and helpful. Their bread and butter bar is interesting. Their food is ok , nothing special. Especially the appetizers. Pizzas were nice thin and flavourful .
