I have a friend who knows a lot about cars and is generally critical of people's work. Therefore, when he wholeheartedly recommended K&C, I was surprised. So much so that I towed the car from San Carlos to San Francisco. My daughter's Subaru's radiator broke down and the coolant got into the engine. We got 3 different quotes for various outcomes. It ranged from a couple of hundred to 6K. Part of the problem is that we don't know how badly damaged the engine is. I talked to Steven and sent over the other estimate and the diagnosis from our usual auto repair place. He got back to me super quickly and was able to provide a solution which would solve the current problem and give us time to see if the problem will persist. We agreed on a fix and he got it back to us within a few days. I was so very impressed with the thorough, multi-page diagnostic that caught other things like a manufacturer recall. It really does make a difference when your mechanic used to work at the place of your car make! Either way, we will see if the car is fixed or if we need to proceed to a rebuild/new engine. I had been driving by this place every day in my Mini Cooper and saw other Minis being worked on in there. My windshield wipers had stopped working. I went to BMW to get a diagnosis which cost a lot. Then they found that the engine mounts were failing. I had been to BMW before and they charged me an arm and a leg to change the battery. So I knew this was going to be really expensive. I called K&C Auto and got a quick response. I set up the appointment within the week. Work was done as promised and for a fraction of the price. My center instrument light went out and K&C said it was not with it to fix because of the price and it had no purpose other than to light up. I was thankful he was very honest. Meantime you may get pictures of your car so that Steven can explain the issues he is finding. + Accurate time of pick-up. Couldn't believe the level of CS I got. First, the scheduling was flexible; huge for me. I've had this service done at other spots, so I know the time/ price. Second, the follow-up. Without asking, I get a short video sent to me showing exactly the condition one of my rotors were in. Third, the car was done on time w no issue at all. A simple transaction for quality work, which is what I expect in general. Fourth, Steven's overall friendliness & professionalism. Gave me the "heads up" on other things but no upsell. Smart move. Fifth, real parts. Not the fake knockoffs. BONUS! Honda pads ended up being faulty within 90D. Steven fit me in last minute & swapped out for new pads. Drop off your car and a short while later, the owner will call with a full rundown of each and every issue, its exact impact on the function of the vehicle, exactly which issues need to be fixed vs. what you can get away with not fixing, and the pricing for each potential repair.
