Faith in humanity restored! Previously, my Audi A3 warranty expired and my local Audi repair wanted $800 to fix my fuel tank door. This time, my front passenger windshield wiper distributer was clogged. The mechanic disassembled the part, cleaned it, and made sure it worked. When I asked how much, the friendly mechanic said no charge. Huh? This is the best value mechanic in the U.S. and I will certainly take my car back to Pearce if I have any future issues. I am so lucky that my cousin recommended them to me a few years ago when I was complaining to her about the outrageous charges at the dealership. I had anxiety going to SF Mini because I knew I would be overcharged and ripped off. Never again though! The people at Pearce are extremely honest and friendly. I've had a variety of things done, including oil changes to brake fluid flushes to things covered by my extended warranty. Everything was reasonable priced and when I mean reasonable, not XX% charges for labor which is what I got from the dealership. Pearce is centrally located in SF and close to my work so that I can drop off my car before work and pick it up, typically on the same day. Absolutely excellent service, communication, personality, etc... The interior of wife's 2010 Mini Cooper got drenched during a strong rainstorm here and their repair was excellent! contacted them through email to try to set a date to come in for testing for my mini. I already knew something was wrong with the transmission although hoping it wasn't cuz i knew it would be $$$$$ to fix. They tested out the car for a pretty long time, only slight irk was they told my bf that they would know by 10:30 when he dropped it off at 9, but then pushed to 12...which ended up being 2pm...i'm glad they took their time to figure it out...but if only their estimated time was a little more accurate since he was lounging around for hours. basically told me what i needed to know and explained everything really well. too expensive for me to fix at the moment but I really appreciated them telling me since no one else could figure out what was wrong. (IM SO SAD, NEVER BUY A USED CAR! I have been taking my Mini Countryman here for about 4-5 years now every since the warranty expired. I'm so happy not get gouged by the dealer anymore. My husband takes his 20 year old Audi here too. Recently I had a lot of work done and then the thermostat censor and thermostat were faulty shortly after I had all that work done. Jason replaced everything and did not even charge me for labor. Wow. A helpful and honest auto shop. Highly recommend these guys if you need your Mini serviced. I vacuumed under my seats (and disconnected the wiring to do so), thus causing an obnoxious air bag light to come on. Called the Mini dealership, who couldn't fix it until next week. They roughly quoted $150. Mind you, it takes a solid 60 seconds to reset the alert. Called Pearce who got me in same-day and fixed it within 5 minutes of showing up. They even refused payment and were happy to do it for free!! Free!! Much better than being bent over by the dealership. Go to Pearce for any Mini servicing needs. read more

Jason Pearce rocks! In this day and age where honesty and integrity are long lost virtues, Pearce Autotech is a refreshing change. I had a nagging "Check Engine" light on my 2004 MINI S related to an oxygen sensor, which my mechanic could not clear. My mechanic suggested that I bring it into an authorized MINI dealer to check it further as he couldn't figure it out. However, I brought my MINI into Pearce to check the vehicle and hopefully resolve the issues / make repairs. Rather than trying to make a few bucks off of me, Jason took a practical approach and simply explained that it is likely my mechanic did not have the right computer to resolve the problem code that kept the Check Engine light on. In other words, probably just a minor glitch in the MINI's computer. Jason hooked up his diagnostic computer and reset the code, problem solved! Jason said that if the Check Engine light comes back on, then it might be a real problem, which he would then spend the time to look into. On top of that, Jason didn't even charge me for this visit!! In my past experience with a few authorized MINI dealer shops in the Bay Area, I am positive they would have suggested unnecessary repairs (and would have charged me outrageous prices for such repairs). I will DEFINITELY go back to Pearce for my MINI service / repairs. I don't normally review on Yelp, but after this experience, I had to sign up just to give Pearce its kudos. read more

I took my 2007 Mini Cooper to the dealership recently to get an oil change, and of course, they found a bunch of things that needed fixing for a total cost of more than $2,000. I wanted to get a second opinion before dropping that much cash, so I took my car into Pearce Autotech, based on great reviews I read on Yelp. I called on a Friday and was able to schedule an appointment for the following Tuesday at 8am. Johannes called me to explain what they had found--same problems as what the dealership found (thermostat needed replacing, oil gasket leaking...)--but Pearce's prices were lower than the dealership. Johannes was great and took the time to explain the problems to me, why they needed to be fixed, and what they were going to do. I ended up saving $300 by taking it to Pearce, and I thought the service was really great. So far, my car seems to be in great shape. I will definitely be using Pearce from now on. read more

My boyfriend and I were on a 3 week road trip and obviously took into account they by the time we reached San Francisco we would need a oil change. Once again Yelp helped me out with finding the right place to bring my little ride that was every part of our trip as the places we visited. The reviews were great for this place and they were totally reliable on their word as well as not being too pushy with maintenance since they knew we were just passing through. The cost was a little higher for what I am use to paying but going from Austin to San Francisco I assumed it would be. They also recommended a breakfast spot for us to hit up while we waited for the oil change! My boyfriend and I are thinking about relocating to San Francisco so I sure hope these guys are around when I get there. ;) read more

quick, friendly, totally awesome. I'd gotten a really expensive diagnostic at another spot, and came here because I wasn't happy with the service. They made the fix on the 2001 volvo S40 (timing belt) for $300.00 cheaper than was quoted at the other shop, and finished the day I brought it there. when I asked them to check on the exhaust manifold because I was quoted a $1,000 fix at the other shop, they said, it looked ok and that all they needed to do was replace two bolts, which they did for no extra cost! read more
