I read all the reviews before testing this groomer out, and was excited that two previous reviews stated they had Scottish terriers. When I called and I said I had a Scottie, the owner spoke confidently about understanding Scotties and I was thrilled to find a place so close by. I had taken my little Scottie twice to the Petco groomers and each time the experience was positive and they had no negative feedback, the only reason I decided to try K-9 Tubs was because my groomer at Petco moved. I'll start with the few positives with my experience, when I arrived I chatted with the owner and she assured me that with new customers, she takes her time to make sure the dog is comfortable. I thought that was awesome and was glad that she would be taking her time. She called me 30 minutes prior to pick up and stated that he was "being impossible" and she needed more time. Now Scotties are a typical terrier breed and can be stubborn, so I took this at face value and said no worries. Within an hour she called back once again stating he was "being impossible" and to come pick him up, that there was nothing else she could do and that she would not be charging me. I initially felt terrible, because no one wants to hear their fur baby was being a stinker. When I got there, at first glance he looked fine and she just kept reiterating how he was "impossible" without additional explanation. I was thankful that she was able to wash him and left her a tip since she wasn't charging me for the experience. Yet on closer examination, I started to notice his cut wasn't all that it was suppose to be. His eyebrows were unevenly cut (pictured) and that is when she asked me not to say I had brought him to her and to say I cut him myself. Weird request but whatever was my initial thought...By the time I got him home I noticed the multiple bald spots (pictured), that she had cut off his whiskers, his cut was uneven, super short in the back and other bald spots under his Scottie beard. While a nice woman she definitely did not know how to cut a Scottie and I have to question her grooming abilities. I will chalk it up to a bad experience all around, but I will not be a returning customer. read more

Oh my goodness! I thought it could never get better than it was before! Now we groom our two dogs with Yassu and she is so kind to both of them. When they are done, they always sleep in the cozy bed waiting for me. I am a very busy mom and sometimes I bring my kid over and he loves Yassu too. We have been going to K-9 for many, many years. They have ALWAYS been wonderful with all our dogs, even our beloved Fidget (RIP) when he was old and grumpy. When we got our first dog, we shopped around and checked out quite a few groomers, even the big pet store ones. We almost thought we would learn to do the grooming ourselves, but then we tried K-9 and the rest is history. Our dogs can be a handful (full of energy and "personality") but Yasue is fantastic with them and all the other dogs we've seen there. I've taken my dog to a number of groomers- and after all these experiences, I'm calling myself an expert! (the only groomers I've really liked have not been close to my house and I have tried to find a great groomer closer to home) The owner was okay- seemed knowledgeable, asked some good questions. But there are a number of reasons that I won't be back or recommend her: - his haircut isn't cute. My dog's hair is tricky; he's a hybrid and he's got combo straight/curly hair breed in him. This haircut was just ok. maybe it will grow out cuter. - She was- of the 9 places I have taken him to- the most expensive. - while I was there. she was giving cheap treats (milk bones) to the dogs. I don't love that but I get it. What bothered me was I heard her saying to another dog "your mommy doesn't want you to eat these but here' not cool if she's directed not to feed a certain dog something, and she does it. - when I picked him up 6 hrs later (and I am not that person who loves leaving my dog for so long) I asked if he'd been out. And she said no. She said she tried to take him out but he "ran back inside". NO WAY is this true; I know him too well and he would have been eager to be outside. So I don't think she was being honest. so the search continues, or I have to resign myself to driving him 8 miles away. read more

One of the best groomers I've taken my girls to. They always look stunning when they're done. More importantly, I know that they are treated well by Yasue. They, a Bichon and a Havanese, go for monthly groomings. When they reach the shop they walk in (no back leg brakes at the door). Then they hop into "their" kennel. I was searching high and low for a trustworthy pet groomers for my Yorkshire terrier. After three failed locations, I found Yasue and K9 tubs! My Yorkie, Bailey has been coming here since he was a year old, he is now 13. Bailey is not the easiest of customers but Yasue is loving, kind and has a lot of patience with him! The best groomer in LA, as far as I'm concerned. My 8 year old 12 lb. poodle mix always seems slightly traumatized at other groomers, pulling away towards the door when I bring her in. At K-9 Tubs she runs through the door, excited to see Yasue. All the other dogs seem calm and happy in their kennels, and are obviously showered with kindness while they are there. The rates are very fair, and the haircuts are as good as my Shelley has ever gotten. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

I'm semi-convinced that the bad recommendations for K-9 are from petsmart corporate employees or something. We brought our scottie to a number of groomers over the years, and Yatsu is infinity better than any of them. Our pup's haircut is always perfect, her nails are perfect, and she smells amazing. Yasue is the best! The pup is a rescue and he is skittish with baths and nail trimming so I think the pro touch is worth every penny. Plus - our pup got into a bit of skunk spray late one night and Yasue was able to take him first thing in the morning even though she was busy. It was our first visit and she was tremendously sweet, wanted him for a little longer to get to know him and taking him out for a walk too. He loves people but is a bit aggressive on leash with other dogs (barking), which we have been training him out of, but with Yasue's stern+sweet combo, he didn't bark at all. I would definitely come back and the $45 spent here was a way better deal than the other place we tried down the street which was the same price for far less attention. read more

(I should have wrote this sooner but didn't.) I took my two German Shepherds to K-9 Tubs a year ago and they came back stinking like 'old lady perfume'. They smelled so bad that I had to take them elsewhere to get bathed again. If the stink of 'old lady perfume' bothered me so much I can only imagine how much it must have antagonized my two dogs, with their superior sense of smell. Really nice lady, but 35$ to bathe my small, under 10 pound chihuahua was insane. I pay 38$ for all that and a haircut at Pampered Pets in Burbank. I have 3 very temperamental older chihuahuas who need their nails trimmed every month and I am so thankful I found K-9 Tubs. Yasue is so kind and gentle and her prices are beyond reasonable. You can tell she has been doing this for a long time and has a genuine love for animals. She even told me on my last visit that she would teach me how to cut their nails myself.. We've been coming to K-9 Tubs for several years on a friend's recommendation. I don't know what we would do without Yasue. We have a very sensitive, easily frightened rescue Field Spaniel that will never get used to grooming. We're so grateful that she's willing to take him on. He looks like a shag rug when he goes in but he's a new dog when she's done. She must be the most patient pet groomer alive. Very nice and obviously treats the dogs well. Mine is very hard to deal with in that she has separation anxiety and will bark the whole time in a cage, but they handle her with kid gloves and she always smells and looks great. read more
