In office: Charity and John helped me to not have a complete mental breakdown. They were amazing in directing traffic, making plans, and apparently offering the local monopoly some tips. Charity kept me informed the whole time. Nothing is super simple but when in motion, these guys sure make it look easy. In the field: Chris was precise and deliberate. Narrowed in on the issue like "butter". He even answers all of my partner's questions. When it was time to come back to do the work, after waiting for the city/power company to do whatever they do, he crushed it and even gave me my own Flux Capacitor. I requested a quote to install 2 Tesla Wall Connector chargers. JW Shaffer was willing to give me an estimate over email after sending them high resolution photos of the job, so there was no need for an on-site visit for the estimate process. JW Shaffer's communication was very prompt and the estimate was one of the lowest I received after contacting many electricians. I did not end up hiring the company for this job, but I would consider them again for future projects. read more

Asked to have an extra outlet in garage and lighting changed out in house. 1. Called for an estimate at the beginning of June 2024. The woman on the phone told the electrician the information and the initial quote was $300. 2. Fast forward to August 2024. Never got told electricians were going to show up to do an estimate, they just showed up one morning (thankfully we were home as it was our day off). 3. The electrician gave us an estimate of $1,000 - $1,3000. Said the office would send over a firm quote to sign. 4. Never got a quote. Kept calling and got told it was being sent/sent. Looked high and low through all emails and nothing. 5. Fast forward to the end of August 2024. Electricians show up to to do the work. We ask if they have the firm quote with them and they said no. Could not do the work because the woman in the office A) did not send quote for us to sign B) she was out of the office that day and no one else could send a quote (STUPID business practice - single point of failure. Employees need to be cross trained!). 6. Get told by the electricians that this happens all the time with people not getting quote or getting wrong quote, blah, blah, blah. 7. Call and get the owner's son who says he will send the quote and we will be on the schedule for Friday August 30, 2024. 8. Get a call from the woman in the office who says we are not on the schedule. We will be pushed back to whenever (we are 8 weeks from when the process started!). Ask to speak with her supervisor because the owner's son said we were on the schedule and we have been trying to get this done for sometime now. She rudely says she is the end-all-be-all supervisor and she has the final say in everything! Again, ask for the owner's son who we spoke to and she says she is the only one handling the schedule and no one else. She is the supervisor/manager of the office. Admittedly, lost our cool with this rude incompetent woman. She says don't call the office again and hangs up on us. 9. If this woman does not want her job then maybe her bosses should hire someone who does want a job and will do it right. She is incompetent. The work is great. The electricians are great. The office staff is rude, incompetent, and a joke when it comes to service. Schaffer Electric should really pay attention to what their staff (the woman in office who is the supervisor/does the quotes, answers the phones, etc.). Poor office management means lost business (and we know as we have had many successful businesses across the country over the past four decades!) 10. WE WILL NOT BE USING JW SCHAFFER again for any electrical work because of the office staff/manager (whoever she is). read more

JW Shaffer was responsible for replacing a fan in our rental property. Our rental company is the worst ... completely unresponsive and dropped the ball on getting JW Shaffer the approval and funding to purchase a new fan. Original request submitted to the rental company was November 2023! Charity did not give up! She was relentless with maintaining contact with our rental company and getting the approval JW Shaffer needed to complete the job. She always kept my husband and I in the loop on what was happening, and once they got approval they immediately set up a time for installation. Definitely recommend this company. read more

Had them out to give an estimate. Said I would get one within 2 business days. Never heard back from them. When initial guy was at house said that I would need a bigger gauge wire to upgrade from 20 amps to 30. In meantime, and found out that 10 gauge wire was fine. Didn't even need an upgrade. I wouldn't hire them to wire a radio. Totally ignored, no response and seems to say anything to scare you into upgrade for unnecessary work. BOOOOOO! read more

The electrical work was excellent. The business end of the company is in total disarray. First, they gave us a 2-hour time frame in which to expect them; then showed up two hours earlier than the specified time, making us scramble to accommodate. Did excellent work, tho. A month and a half later, we were informed that we had not paid for the service call, though, indeed, payment was tendered at the time of service. We called the company on Saturday (they aren't open) and left a couple of messages. Then called again on Sunday to leave further details. Also on Sunday, sent an "email" via their website contact form describing our problem. On Monday, received a call from a gentleman who asked that we explain what the problem was; which we did. He promised to look into it. Tuesday, received a call from, we believe, the office manager(?) who confirmed she had no clue as to what had happened to our payment, though we researched, and the payment cleared the bank. Seriously, how much business can they do in the course of a day? Do they not reconcile payments received with invoices at the end of every workday? Our story is only half of the picture in this case. Another individual had to take time to try to rectify this situation, but was met with what this person perceived as a lack of understanding (by Shaffer) of the seriousness of the situation. Perhaps we're wrong, but our perception of their attitude toward mishandling sensitive information is, at best, complacent. And at worst, negligent. We will take our business elsewhere going forward. read more

Highly recommend JW Shaffer. I called them on a Friday afternoon, after business hours, due to an alarming burning smell after hearing a loud noise near our electrical outlet. Johnny answered the call on the first ring. I explained our situation and during our call, we got discounted. Despite it being after hours and on a Friday, Johnny called me back to ensure we were ok. He provided his assessment and we concluded that the best choice would be to call the fire department. Luckily no issues were found, but my boyfriend and I felt it best to still have someone come to look at the house. I called Johnny first thing Monday morning. I asked the person answering the phone if they could connect me to Johnny as I wanted to thank him for helping us out. He made immediate arrangements to send one of his top guys to our house the very next morning to do a walk-through. Thank you so much Johnny!!! I highly recommend your services!!! read more
