It was weeks of trying to avoid doing contractual work, add fees, calling me names, hanging up the phone on me before the first crew finally walked off of the job in front of the company owner. No apology provided to me, but after significant negotiation they did agree to hire a subcontractor to fix their work. Unfortunately this meant that they sanded their texture work and did not seal the ductwork first and refused to put up plastic in the doorway. I had to put up plastic and then spent 30 hours cleaning my home once I figured out what the air quality issue was. I have a disability and am prone to respiratory infections which is what I was diagnosed with following this event. The new crew told me that the soffit the previous crew built was too crooked to fix but I wouldn't notice it. They decided that they completed the project and the problem was the ductwork underneath the soffit. They want thousands more to replace my ductwork and build a new soffit. I cannot find their electrical license online although they did electrical work. The light fixture they installed will not turn off and they will not hire an electrician to fix their work. This was supposed to be a home modification project to help my disabled son--a fact that they have had no regard for throughout the project.

The master bath was about 60sq ft (excluding alcove shower) in a 1999 3-story condo, and the job scope included: demolish/remove original alcove tub, sinks, vanity, mirror, vinyl flooring, baseboards install new tub with 12x24" tile shower walls install new shower fixtures at taller height install 12x12" tile flooring install new plywood, solid-door vanity install new porcelain sinks and hardware install shower curtain rod install vanity backsplash tile install tile baseboards The half bath was about 25sq ft and the job scope included: install new toilet with appropriate flange install new stand-alone vanity install sink fixture Michael and Chevy did the work themselves and met every timeline. Michael was responsive and communicative, quickly notifying us of changes. He got the job done with high-quality standards and within a reasonable timeframe, despite delays and set backs. For example, in late Feb 2025 there was a significant snow/ice storm that delayed the project by 2 days. Michael showed up on the weekends to continue the job to try and make up time. He was consistent, reliable, and transparent. Another example: Our master bath floor was not level enough for the tile, and Michael was clear and open about what had to be done to get the job finished to a top-quality standard. It added a couple days to the timeframe (and some cost), but the final result was well worth it. Last example: The half bath toilet flange had several errors from the original build and contractor work, and the toilet we bought had a manufacturing defect (leak) we found after installing the toilet. Despite these obstacles and added time, Michael brought the flange to code, uninstalled the defective toilet, and installed the defect-free replacement. There were several curveballs with our job and Michael handled them professionally and courteously, making sure we were involved with every change decision along the way. We are thinking about hiring him for our second (guest) bath remodel, and wish him all the success a small business owner can have!

They added some insulation in a few places that didn't have it for a very reasonable price and did a top notch job with the air flow. Now, in the heat of the summer, the house is at least a 10 degree difference from the same heat last year. It is amazing! The roof looks beautiful! HM's representatives were great and very accommodating; they showed up on time and kept us comprised of the progress at each point along the way. Plus, the workmanship was excellent, and we are extremely happy with the result. But what distinguishes Hamish Murray from other good contractors is his honesty and integrity. About a year after the end of the project, I contacted them about leakage through a new retaining wall. Hamish himself came out to take a look. He decided it needed to be excavated and waterproofed, and that a drainage pipe should be installed. Moreover, he is doing all this new work for free, because he believed it was a mistake on their part not to do it during the construction period. Now THAT'S integrity! I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Fast forward 20 years and we reached a point in life where we could afford to turn our place into what we always knew it could be. Hamish Murray was extremely flexible when it came to the bidding process and the various hoops we had to jump through to for the bank to finance our construction loan (check out Clackamas County Bank.) With Hamish Murray the price they quoted you is the price you're going to pay. While we made them suffer through countless change orders as we added mid-project upgrades, never did I hear that something was going to cost more than was originally quoted. I grew up working on wooden boats and old houses on the east coast, so often when I look at modern construction it doesn't feel like it has the same craftsman attention to detail as you'd see in early 20th century work. That's not the case with Hamish Murray. The subs they used cared deeply about their craft and you can tell in every corner. If something looked at all sloppy, it was redone without question or cost to me. Concrete was re-poured, cabinets were repainted - the level of quality assurance was what you'd expect out of a builder making their own home. Every morning as I have my coffee I feel like I'm on vacation in a fancy boutique hotel, but its my kitchen! Every night as tuck in the kids and lock up, I feel like I'm already in a dream. Just had KE Harn redo my roof. Current roof was 25 years old and we had a leak in the roof right…read moreat the exterior wall. I got quotes from 5 different roofing companies. KE Harn was the only one to suggest NOT doing certain things (like replacing all the boards under the roofing material). I knew that some boards on the roof would need replacing. These were quoted as a flat cost per board that they needed to actually replace, the cost they quoted was 1/3 of another roofer. Because we had an active leak and I was concerned about actual damage to the exterior wall, I kept in contact regarding the schedule. They were out a few months, but said they would do what they could. Actually got the roof done weeks before they expected they could (anothe r job had to be postponed because of weather). During the tear off they kept me complete appraised of what they were finding. The water damage to the exterior wall was greater than I anticipated. They were able to replace the water damaged wood in the wall and at a cost way less that what I was anticipating. Their crews were courtious and keep everything clean. Roof was completed in two days. They completely cleaned up at the end of each day, no debris left anywhere. They only way you could tell they had been there was the beautiful new roof on the house. Check with other companies, but make sure you talk to KE Harn. They will NOT disappoint you on price, quality or workmanship on their projects.

His crew hand scrubbed the 3600sq ft tile roof to clean the moss from it! No loud, messy pressure washing here. When my roof did leak it was my fault because I did not clean the gutters so we had some water back up in the valleys. They patiently came out, cleaned the gutters, checked the valleys and kindly gave me lecture on keeping my gutters cleaner in the future.The Harn crew has maintained the health and appearance of our roof for 26 years and it looks as good today as the day they installed it!
