After completing the project and later comparing with other options, it became clear that the pricing was not aligned with the level of quality we received. The paint has started rubbing off within a year, the drawer hardware feels very low quality (mostly plastic), and the drawers did not close properly from the installation. The drawer slides and soft-close mechanisms are low quality, feel cheap and unreliable, and the slide system doesn't function properly. With our prior Ikea drawers, which had metal throughout, that was never an issue. These are fundamental issues that should not occur at this price point. Support was also a challenge. Communication felt defensive, and we had to follow up multiple times just to get someone to come out for fixes. Based on our experience, we would not recommend JV Cabinets. There are other providers offering solid wood cabinets with noticeably better build quality and finish for similar, or lower cost.

Go ahead, call five contractors. How many answer their phone? How many even respond? You probably already know how many. 1? 2, maybe? This project was a little annoying because I needed it done immediately. Also, it involved working in conjunction with a separate contractor that was working in the home. I was worried that it'd be hard to find a contractor to complete in time. I felt bad having such an immediate need but I wanted to call Billy first. Billy answered, with tools in his hands, mid job. I explained what I needed. He asked the right questions. We setup a time to meet and like clockwork, he showed up on time. Always friendly. Always informative. Bam! Work scheduled. I left Billy the lockbox code and he estimated his finishing time. I called him around that time to coordinate getting him paid. And, of course, the work was already completed. Not only was the work completed sooner than expected which allowed the entire project to progress faster than expected, but it was done perfectly. Which is a word I rarely use. But from the precision of the work, the cleanliness of the work, coordination with other contractors, quality of products he used...and yes, the value of everything involved...perfect! I'm not sure if I'll ever need contracting services in the Yuba/Sutter area again. But if I do, I'm only making one call. The same call you should make. It still didn't function well, but I worked around it. A leak in the wall behind the cabinets, forced an unexpected remodel. I received estimates from several contractors using stock or RTA "IKEA" kitchen cabinets. The cabinets I saw in these stores did not seem as sturdy as my existing cabinets. I couldn't customize and would have similar unusable spaces where the pre-made cabinets are put together. The contractors and pre-made cabinet stores told me custom cabinets would cost twice as much as their estimates. While looking for design ideas, I saw multiple Houzz and Reddit posts stating a local carpenter could give me custom cabinets at a much better price. I am so glad I paid attention to the posts! That's how I found Sacramento Millworks. His price for my project was comparable to the quotes I received for stock cabinets. Raymond is a carpenter and a designer. Because of his experience, he handled everything. He walked me through everything, including a trip to the granite and tile shops. I just picked colors. He was very patient. If you decide to move forward with a transaction have them put it in writing. Pay close attention to the Return Policy and make sure to ask about the refunds, and there refund upon approval system. See contract below. We have been waiting 7 weeks to get the correct cabinets that fit. 3 weeks for the initial order and replacing the same cabinet 3 times. That's No kids birthday party no thanksgiving, no Christmas, nothing in the kitchen can be installed until the cabinets are in. This is the 3rd time around. They will not honor there refund policy, so buyer beware. Even though it says you have X=amount of time to return, with a stocking fee they will tell you "that it's upon approval". That's after the fact, i.e. when you install them and they do not fit. Small place doesn't want to do refunds so they will give you everything under the sun for a reason why they can't accept returns. They will only take it back if it's damaged, so if it doesn't fit or doesn't meet your standard, your stuck with it. See photos below. They gave us kitchen cabinets instead of real vanities. See pictures below. Why would you give us drawers that don't open that are clearly met for a kitchen. I'm sure this is a set someone else purchased and they pushed on us. In fact they never showed us the vanities. When we asked could we see them we where told we couldn't because they where in the back in boxes.
