The picture with the smaller stitch is the final healing of part one (long story lol) but per usual he explained everything and didnt rush. I want to thank Dr. Heller for helping me with an arm wound caused by my new puppy's claw. Dr. Heller immediately took care of the situation, and a week later provided a solution for an infection beneath the skin that no one else I talked to believed could be present. I went to see Dr. Justin for a mole removal consultation he was nice and explained everything to me but when they gave the quote I was in shock they told me that the cost to remove a mole is 5K that is ridiculous!!! I didn't go to get my boobs done it's just a mole, I had a consultation previously with another cosmetic surgeon and they quoted me for $300, they just wanted to take advantage of me that is not ok!! read more

Dr. Heller performed a face lift with fat-grafting and he fixed my eyes too (upper and lower). He really did an amazing job. I don't look pulled unnaturally in any way... I just look younger, more relaxed, and my neck isn't embarrassing anymore! It is so fun to put eyeliner on now because before, it would bleed and you couldn't even see it... now, you can completely see the liner and I feel so pretty! After several consultations in the area, I picked Dr. Heller to do my Tummy Tuck, which included a home visit the day after surgery and 24 hour nurse care in my home. His staff was amazing answered all my questions, and was always there when i needed them. My results are absolutely amazing. I will be 50 next month and i wish i would have done this 10 years ago. I fell down the stairs of my house and broke my fall with my face on the bannister platform. I, basically, broke the bones in the left side of my face, 8 breaks in my orbital bone, cheek gashed through to inside of my mouth, facial nerve severed so my left eye wouldn't open, broke my nose and jaw, as well! Dr. Heller put me back together again with his amazing skill. My other doctors can't believe my injured eye is functioning and that I don't have double vision! My face is completely healed. Dr. Heller gave me my life back. He is an amazing surgeon and has a very encouraging and comforting manner. His office staff is super! I'm writing this review, for the constant lack of patient care follow up. My friend Barbara who is 82yo, has been seeing Dr. Heller for approximately 3 months, due to skin cancer on her face. Since day one, the office staff has been dropping the ball. They were supposed to call her to schedule an appointment to have some cancer spots removed. They never called to schedule her appointment, until Barbara, advised her referring doctor. In fact she was going to find another doctor, but Dr. Garrison, assured her that things would get better. Her appointment was scheduled. She had her surgery, and know she has follow up visits every two to three weeks with Dr. Heller, each time he gives her a prescription to fill. EVERY TIME, I take the RX to the pharmacy, we have to wait for a reply from his office staff to ok the RX. The pharmacy sends a fax request which goes unnoticed for several days, the pharmacy, then calls them, which they do NOT respond to the calls nor faxes that are sent. I've had to contact his office staff myself three times, just to get her prescription filled. This last RX took TWO weeks, and some angry words spoke to get it filled. It should NOT be this difficult to be a patient. The patient, shouldn't have to do the leg work! This is what the office staff is for, and the reason the patients pay for insurance. It baffles me, how there is zero customer service. I'm not sure, what the problem is, but as soon as the doctor fills out the RX request, the office staff, either needs to fax it themselves to the pharmacy or respond immediately, to the fax requests from the pharmacy. Especially, when the patient is scheduled to return for a follow up visit, to see how the medication is working or not. This is a waste of everybody's time! First and foremost it's not only inconvenient, for the patient, it's a waste of their time as well as the doctor, and a waste of insurance money. So no, I would not recommend, Dr. Heller's office, unless you don't mind doing your own footwork. read more

This is one of the most arrogant, ill mannered, full of himself Dr's a person could ever meet. If you want to stay in an examining room for 2 hrs after an initial, cursory consult, then go to Dr. Heller. After an X-ray of my wrist for which I was experiencing severe pain, He presented opinions to me, then left the room, leaving a large syringe with cortisone sitting on a small table in front of me. After an additional 30 minutes of waiting, the Dr never returned to treat me. I stepped out of the examing room and informed the nurse I was not waiting any longer. I was referred to this Dr and thought because of the referral he would be a good choice to help me deal with the pain. This was the most unprofessional doctor appt I have ever experienced, My take was that his time was so much more valuable than mine. He Definitively needs to attend a bedside manners class to maintain a patient base!! read more

After a great deal of thought I decided to amend my initial review. I met with Dr. Justin Heller after I finished a year of Chemo and Radiation due to advanced breast cancer in 2014. The loss of my breast left me feeling hopeless, self conscious, and quite depressed. Everyday was a constant reminder of what I went through and to look in the mirror put me in tears daily... While I was dreading having to have more surgery, I knew if I didn't it would affect me the rest of my life. I really wanted the best and I was told about Dr. Heller by my surgical Oncologist. She had heard he was a good plastic surgeon and he was local. He performed a latissimus dorsi Flap reconstruction which is a very painful and long surgery and put in expanders in the left and right side. I had a lot of issues and still do today from the many surgeries I had with him. One thing I would like to say it to not get excited until all the swelling is gone. I jumped the gun right after my surgeries and once all the swelling went down the results were not favorable and with each surgery they looked worse. I have a lot of scars and I also had a 3rd boob in the middle with no separation between to left and right breast. The Left side was twisted and tucked in places and was very unnatural under the breast and did not have a normal shape or look. It was much larger and wider then the right side. When I asked questions, he would only reply that I was expecting to much and many times would yell mentioned this to him he replied that I was expecting to much... , I will never forget the day he had students in the room and yelled at me when I asked about other areas I was concerned about he left the room angry slammed the door on the way out. I just sat there in shock and cried. After the last surgery he did on me, at first It looked like a huge improvement but it also was another large scar and once the swelling went down it started to look worse then I expected. I decided to seek other opinions and my gut feelings were confirmed. I now have exactly what I was wanting and that was to look normal and feel confident again and to look normal as I did prior to my cancer diagnosis. All the things I asked him about seemed to frustrate him and I was told several time I was expecting to much and would never be the same, After hearing this several times at dif. visits with him I started to become uneasy and was unhappy with the results. I did not schedule any further surgeries at that point and sought help from specialist in the area of cancer breast reconstruction. My current surgeon is a specialist in the area and this type of surgery was all they do. After 2 very long surgeries and difficult recoveries I feel whole again, I look normal in fact they are better then I ever expected they could be. I have one last minor surgery before I finish the little details that will complete my new breasts. I feel confident again and was glad I got other opinions and my fears were confirmed. In closing I do not want to discourage anyone who is looking to improve their bodies through cosmetic surgery, there is a huge difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Heller is very good in these area's and specializes in plastic and cosmetic surgery. My case was a difficult one and today I feel that maybe I was the first Lat. breast reconstruction he had done. Do not confuse breast augmentation, breast lift etc. or plastic surgery with the type of surgery I needed. I have seen his work and he is very good . I am speaking to all the women who have gone though what I have after Cancer. if you are having major breast reconstruction after mastectomy and you had radiation make sure you find a specialist in this area who only does this type of surgery. In between all this I had Dr. Heller do a upper eyelid lift, it came out nice All in all it is a huge difference and it took years off my eyes. I'm happy with the result. I first went to Dr. Justin Heller in March 2015. He was a provider under my insurance and his website said he performs breast reconstructive surgery due to Capsule Contracture. At the initial visit one saline breast implant was ruptured and deflated and the other was a sever capsulation..a Baker IV. I was on time for my appointment and still had to wait an hour. His bedside manner is wonderful...even his words telling me how beautiful I am and I should replace the implants with new ones like the gummy bears!$$$$ I expressed that I was considering having the implants removed completely and no replacement as I wanted to heal and financially it was not feasible. From March to June26, this is how long it took for the approval from my insurance company (Blue Cross PPO). Well it should not have but with wrong CBT and procedure codes being sent in and Dr Heller going through two Surgery Schedulers during this time it did. I saw Dr. Heller twice during this time and both times he described how inverted my breast would be because of all the scare tissue that had to be removed. And how it may be necessary for drains. The capsulation was very bad..in short, when I went to a new plastic surgeon in Encino and including the day of my surgery..Dr. Matthew Malamet said he had seen nothing like what he saw during the surgery...pretty scary. But at those two visits...which I waited over an hour at both..Dr Heller emphasized how much nicer the new implants would be and that I would not be happy with my breast with out them. June 26, we have the approval from the insurance company, I call to schedule the capsulectomy, and now the second surgery scheduler was no longer working there. I was to call Valencia where the procedure would be done. And of course they didn't have my complete file but I'm still excited..finally I get a surgery date. Nope, after leaving a message and Sandy calling me back...my happiness came to another block wall halt! Sandy in his Valencia office informs me that Dr. Justin Heller will only perform the surgery if I do the implant replacement! My decision which had been made up early on was to have them removed and left out. So she tells me that Dr Heller will not perform the surgery with out the replacement implants ($9200) being put in because "he knows I will not be happy with my breast with out them and he does not want his name attached to something he knows I will not be happy with"...exactly how Sandy said it. I was furious and could not believe I spent 4 months of being patient to then be told no!..So the insurance covered a portion and there would still be an out of pocket..but he I guess just wanted the money..the money for the new breast implants! I had my surgery done on Aug 6,2015 by an AMAZING Plastic Surgeon Dr. Matthew Malamet in Encino. The saline implants were both ruptured and there was a dirty brown fluid in the implant that was severely capsulated..again nothing he had ever seen befor. Definite sign of infection , required drains, and no way would new implants be put in with all this going on even if i wanted them. So did dr heller have my best interest at heart ? Or his best interest $$!? read more

I have been absolutely impressed with Dr. Heller from consultation through post op. First off his staff is great. They know you by name and the wait is never long. I saw Dr. Heller for a breast augmentation. I chose him above other physicians because he was thorough, addressing every detail of my chest and what I wanted. I left my consult scheduled for surgery and confident in my decision. He took great care of me through surgery and after.
