What a joint. Went on. Thursday at around 11:30 and there was already a line. But we got lucky and grabbed 2 seats at the bar. I got the sampler breakfast - 4 eggs, hash browns, grits, bacon and sausage. Too much - couldn't take it down. Sausage and bacon were fantastic. The grits were perfect. Coffee was very good. I defy you to try and empty your drink. Impossible! The servers are on top of it. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly. Pleasant. Helpful. Second time thru town and it's a must stop place. When the parking lots is always full you know it's great. Being from the south (side of Chicago) I enjoy trying something regional. A local favorite, Just Us Cafe sits on Knox Abbott drive for your southern breakfast and lunch needs. Prices do not breach 11 dollars (and that's for a steak). There's always, ALWAYS a wait after 8 or 9, but it's always a quick wait. I look as it as indicative of how amazing it is. The food is always fast, super tasty, and has large portions. The mom and pop feel always makes you feel welcome and the service matches. Everyone is always so welcoming and kind. You're almost certain to be called "darlin." Have a seat at the bar one day if you come alone and chat with strangers over breakfast. Winning experience! I take all of my friends here. Definitely recommend! Came here on recommendations from friends and from yelp reviews. It's a bit of a drive but well worth it. Came on a Sunday and was relatively quiet. Which they say is crazy, because by 7:30 -8 usually have a wait going on. Food was very very good, prices were evem better, and boy do you get a lot. Just us cafe is just right for my family. A coworker and I decided to go here for lunch today. We made it there around 12 noon. By this time, the place was packed. My friend signed us up for a table and within minutes, they were calling us. We were seated and was ordering with drinks all in 3 minutes. The line for takeout was moving very fast as well. We both ordered cheeseburgers and fries. About 5-7 minutes after we ordered, our food was coming out. Simple and delicious. Prices are extremely reasonable. Try them out! This is the perfect example of a local dinner which has been in business for a long time. Most of the clientele seem to be regulars the staff knows by name. Their food is hearty and seems to cater to an older customer. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, and you certainly get your money's worth. The biscuits were baked just right. The sausage gravy was without visible pepper so did not have the expected bite. Adding pepper from the table helped, but it was still very mellow. The sausage was cut up pieces of links which has a pretty decent flavor, and there was a lot of sausage in the gravy. Eggs were done right. The grits were slightly buttery and even creamy. They were very good. The hash browns are diced potatoes and were a bit soggy. They did not have the expected crispness. The veggie omlette has onion, green peppers, tomatoes, and mushrooms. It was well prepared. Adding a bit of salt really perked up the flavor. The coffee was good. The service is outstanding. At least three different waitresses came by to make sure we had all we need. Everyone is very friendly, including the customers. Also, the food comes out amazingly fast. read more

Went back for lunch Tuesday with six of us. Crowded at 11:40, but we found a table, and were immediately waited on. I asked the waitress what she recommended and she said the Chicken Fried Steak. So I ordered it with mashed potatoes, white gravy and Lima beans. Two of the other guys also ordered it, one with onion rings and brown gravy over rice and the other ordered just like mine. It was excellent. Everyone said it was one of the best bangs for your buck in town. Total bill for the chicken fried steak with a tea was $7.58! Can't beat that. I think the total bill for six of us was right around $50! Wish it were closer to NE Cola! We'll return. Good service, clean, and very popular. read more

The foods trash and the servers are annoying. The hash browns are cut up French fries and the coffee is worse than Starbucks and that's hard to accomplish. Instant coffee at a hotel tastes better and the interior reminds me of the 80's when I was a kid. The only thing missing is shag carpet. I'll never eat at this dump again. read more

This place does a great job! I have never had a complaint about anything any time I've eaten here. Eggs are served nice and hot the way I like them, and my coffee never gets cold. It is a great hole in the wall type place that everyone in the Midlands should check out! Such a homey and friendly place. Just good ol breakfast! The ultimate omelette y'all! Massive, filled with veggies and meat. And then you get a biscuit with it and THE HASH BROWNS! Pile them all up and you'll be eating happy the whole time. We had the sweetest waitress, young girl with a wrist tattoo. Forgot her name, but she was so caring and genuine. It's been said before and is without dispute, this is "the best breakfast place in Columbia in regards to price, service, and taste". And if you want local color, this is it. 'Lots of Game Cocks photos, flags, etc. This is an all American breakfast place; No sushi rolls or hummus served here. There are other excellent restaurants in downtown Columbia to find those specialties. The Wait-service is terrific. Oh yeah, tip large and use cash where possible. Our waitress Megan really showed us what southern hospitality is. Her face shines with goodness and we got the chance to see her interact with her kids as they came into have breakfast. This is a super popular, super affordable, and super awesome breakfast/brunch place. Signed in, sat at the counter, and began ordering. The staff was super quick with turnaround. Ordered a half stack of pancakes with a side of hashbrowns and Mac n Cheese all for under $8. Everything came out before I expected with how busy the place was. Loved each item. Pancakes were fluffy. Hashbrowns were seasoned well. Mac n cheese was gooey good. The waitstaff was super cheery too, and that makes for a great dining experience. The interior is a bit dated and decorated with random posters/signs, but I think that makes the place endearing. Recommend stopping by if in the area. read more

Let's start with the food. Normally in restaurants you have to pick two: quality, portion size, or price. Not so with Just Us Cafe! I ordered the fried catfish lunch plate and a few biscuits. Holy moly, that catfish was delicious. Perfectly fried and a huge fillet. The okra and mac and cheese I had were phenomenal as well. I was so stuffed, and it was less than $10. You can't beat that! The service was great too. Not overbearing, and my drinks never even got half empty. The entire vibe of the staff was as down to Earth as you can get. Sublime. I love everything about this place. The staff is always super friendly, the food comes out quickly, it's cheap as hell, and the food is SO good. If you're into diners, I would say this is the closest you'll get to one in Columbia. Even when they are slammed, they get you in and out quickly, with unwavering great service and food. They recently changed their hours/days open to accommodate their workers, but if you get the chance to go there, I recommend the pancakes for breakfast, or the pot roast that's on special (on Fridays now). This is a busy busy place. The food and the service is usually always good. My family has been coming here for quite a while. The only drawback is that they close after lunch so you don't get dinner there. Breakfast is served all day. The meat and vegetables are always good. My personal favorite is the macaroni and cheese. Took husband there for his birthday, and felt a weird vibe. I didn't want to be there but waited the 45 minutes to eat because he wanted to give it a whirl. Food was just okay, nothing to brag about. But... the atmosphere always feels "off". Now I see why. Hatred has no place in our society. I feel ashamed that I spent our hard earned dollars at a place where people so openly embrace hate.
