Tears of Gratitude Our yard was seriously attacked by the last ice storm in Austin. I called our wonderful tree service, Marcus, "Just Trees" and sent photos of our damage. He sent his guys today. They, a team of four guys, arrived at 4:00 PM EXHAUSTED. I surveyed the damage with the foreman, Pablo, and he looked at me, as if I wanted him to fly me on his back to Mars, and finally said, "We will do our best to address the major concerns, and then we can come back..." I left at 6 PM to have dinner with a friend, the sun was quickly setting, and there was a 35' Oak tree, bi-truncated laying on the ground, a 40' Pecan tree with two major branches fallen, a row of Oak branches...I thanked him profusely and left. I came home at 9:30 PM and used by BIG ASS Flashlight and reviewed the work. I immediately began to cry...These hardworking, amazing guys, had cleaned the ENTIRE yard. I can't fathom the depth of character and commitment to work that these guys employed. Anyone else might of said, well, it's getting dark, we're exhausted and we will come back...Not these cats. I feel so blessed and so fortunate. There are GOOD PEOPLE in the world, and these guys are on the list! read more

The Just Trees work that deserved a 2-star review on 6/25/2023 (see the review) was an aberration. Today, Tree Service sent a different crew to my home and--without charging me--this different crew spent 2 hours doing an excellent job of clearing all the deadwood out of my trees that the previous crew sloppily left. I'm still broken-hearted that the original crew cut down without reason two big limbs on my heritage live oak that were not supposed to be cut down (basically, cutting the whole limbs down saved them time). There's a lesson to be learned: Be sure that the crew chief who is responsible for work on your trees understands exactly what work he is supposed to do, and make sure he receives permission before doing any additional work that you and the arborist have NOT approved of. I'll definitely be using Just Trees in future. Chris Poth is surely one of the top arborists in Texas--and he's as principled as he is knowledgeable. read more

After finding three arborists and getting written estimates I hired Just Trees. The written plan covered some large old trees as well as overgrown tree/shrubs. I came home to dead wood remaining in all my trees, tree/ shrubs on both sides of house untouched and a bill including work that was not done. I would not recommend this company. read more

Competent Service in a Dire Situation After spending three years trying to save a pecan tree, Just Trees was recommended as a disease specialist. The tree was well over 80 ft tall, probably over 150 years of age and 10 1/2 ft in circumference. This tree is a friend. Family hugs over the years. Shade for the backyard and home provided. Then it seemed, suddenly, each year 50% fewer leaves. Nothing worked to slow the demise. Neighbors homes were so close by that there would be much damage no matter the direction of the tree falling. It came to removal and I am posting here to speak to the quality of the removal, the interactions with the tree crew and especially accolades for the crew lead, Juan Paulo. For five days, he climbed this tree (see photos) and coordinated the falling logs that hit the ground with a sound like thunder. Just Trees also connected us with Harvest Lumber Company whose purpose is to use naturally fallen trees to produce lumber for reuse in Austin. I got estimates from three arborists. Just trees had good reviews and a price in the mid-range. I told them exactly what I wanted. They sent someone out to give me a quote. The quote was matched to a list of things they would do. They did less than a quarter of what they listed in the quote and billed me for the entire list. He came out had a wealth of information to share with us. We're first time home owners and have a variety of plants we're attempting to establish, and he gave us recommendations on all of it. TL;DR I had a tree and now I don't. So, let's say you have a giant, drought-striken non-native tree looming over your neighbor's driveway and a giant branch fell one foot from their brand-new luxury car. Cue some long, nervous days. I called about eight arborists and learned that all of them apparently take a nice, long week to the National Arborist's Conference (or maybe Cabo, who knows) in the middle of July. Cue teeth grinding and two entire weeks without a single bite. With Scott George's referral (see previous review), Markus was able to prioritize my project, navigate City bureaucracy and raze that tree in less time than it would have taken me to scale its 50-foot high dead branches and beat it into smithereens. Which I was close to doing. He was no-nonsense, low-drama and high-energy. Use him! He's got equipment and know-how for the tough jobs. read more

Communications with this organization are terrible. If you can get a response via email consider yourself fortunate. It literally took me weeks to schedule to have 3 trees sprayed. Attempting to get it done a second time has gone completely ignored. Your trees will be dead before you hear back from them. DO NOT RECOMMEND !! read more

Only tree trimming and tree removal company I use. Why? Real arborists. This means they will not butcher a tree you keeping. I have a number of rental properties and my personal residence and I trust that they will do the job right and not over charge me. They are best for larger jobs since they have a minimum. So call them for tree trimming for all your trees at once or for a big tree removal. Don't call them for the small job. read more

Scheduling problems, poor communication, invoicing errors that dragged on for nearly a year ... and sadly the first treatment did nothing for our poor tree. I sent multiple emails asking if and when we should schedule another treatment, but got no answer. Then six months later, they sent me another invoice out of the blue for hundreds of dollars in treatments that were never performed. It's too bad because the owner seemed very knowledgeable when he first visited to examine our trees, but they clearly have trouble running the business and scheduling side of things. read more

We lost several trees in the 2009 drought, and once we figured they weren't coming back, we took a neighbor's recommendation and called Just Trees. They came over that day to look at the trees, consulted on which ones to cut down, gave us an estimate and scheduled the work for that week. It's not cheap, but they did a great job. They worked HARD all day and did more than we expected. They took away everything that we didn't want to keep as firewood, and they cleaned up well after themselves, They were careful about cutting limbs so that they didn't mess up our grass and fences, etc. We recommend Just Tress very highly. read more

All I can say is, AWESOME! I had a large tree snap during this past week's storm. I had already been working with Markus to get all my trees trimmed and one removed. When the tree snapped I called Markus immediately and he was at my house first thing the following morning. Within an hour he had a crew there to take down the tree. His crew was awesome. It was a very precarious situation in that the tree was not stable, it was right next to my house, my deck, my fence and my new landscaping. I can't recommend Markus and Just Trees enough. After being devastated to learn that our mature Arizona Ash needed to come down, we interviewed several arborists on the recommendations of Scott George (who is also amazing and provided us with consulting but did not want to recommend his own removal services to stay unbiased). Markus was exceptionally knowledgeable, humorous, unpretentious and walked us through our tree removal and stump grinding. He also spent ample time with us, on multiple occasions, discussing what our next steps could be for planting new trees, improving our soil/drainage, native suggestions, his expertise in the available tree stock in town, etc. He was also extremely competitive with his rate - quite literally $1,000 less than one of our quotes (and on par with the other). Though we certainly didn't expect or require it, he was present on-site for almost the entirety of our removal, supervising his team with precision and care - and generously carving out some "slices" for our daughter to count the tree rings. I have a large live oak in my back yard. I had this live oak trimmed just two years ago and it has already grown back to putting my roof at risk. I wanted to be very aggressive with the trimming this time. Just tress did every I asked and more. I asked for a copy of their insurance before the work was done and they produced it, no problem. All of the workers spoke english so communication was not an issue when I wanted them to trim more from one area. Their bid was competitive. They did an excellent job cleaning up as well. I will definitetlytely call Just Trees for future jobs. read more
