It's the ONLY restaurant in the middle of a campground, next to one of the largest marinas, on a huge lake with very few other options.

It's a very cute smallish spot in a city with a surprising number of decent restaurants - but every city could use one more, right? They have a few tables in the dining room with a fast-food style ordering counter, plus three more tables in a patio area that blends seamlessly into the parking lot. Unfortunately, the promise of this new establishment didn't quite live up to my expectations. I ordered the 1/2 lb Big Daddy Burger for lunch. The burger was shaped more or less like a meatball so while there was plenty of beef, it didn't come close to covering the bun so the proportions didn't seem to fit each other. They use homemade pickles which some people would probably really like, but I'm more of an old fashion Vlasic hamburger pickle kind of guy. On the plus side, you could definitely taste a distinct charcoal flavor in the meat, similar to what a burger at an Independence Day picnic should taste like. My curly fries were fine, but nothing more than what you would purchase in the frozen food section of the grocery store. My wife ordered the wings which are roasted, fried, and then thrown on the grill. It sounds like they went to extra trouble to make the wings, but they were on the small side (as many wings are these days - except for the giant wings at The Peanut locations in the KC area) and the taste wasn't noticeably different from the typical appetizer wings at your nearest sports bar. I've heard that pizza is really their thing and that is what we had hoped to order, if their pizza oven had not been on the fritz. They've only been open a short time, maybe a month or so, and this is the second time I'm aware of that their pizza oven has been non-functional. We plan to give them another chance on a future visit when they get their pizza oven up and running again. But until then, while the food was definitely OK, it's not a place I plan to rush back to.

Just wow. Close this…read moreplace or get a manager. In short. A Sunday evening. Stopped in for a bit of food. And let's give the food the 3 stars it deserves. It was OK. Exactly what you would expect from any fast food place that turns over cooks as fast as it turns over burgers. But this is a restaurant. Yeah, it is a country-themed, big, and wooden hunting-style restaurant. With absolutely nothing Big, Hunted, or Country on the menu. There is no heart here. Just whatever you could pick up for quick reheating from Sysco or Costco. And service... well, the most service we received was when one person stopped by long enough to ask us if our server had been by to get our payment. When we told her no... she didn't take our payment... she just said, "it figures" and presumably told the kid waiting on us. After she finished what she was doing with her tables, of course. Moral of the story... just go somewhere else. It will be a long drive to get to the next place. But you will enjoy it more.

Menu was mostly classic midwest/southern fare (not my personal fav). We split the pretzels and queso appetizer - so good! My husband had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatos and broccoli. He enjoyed all of it, but found the roll very bland. It also came with a cup of the soup of the day or salad - soup was a white chicken chili which was surprisingly delicious! My dad had a hot beef sandwich, which he enjoyed. Mom had sliders and onion rings and brought some leftovers home. The onion rings were very tasty! Service was amazing, staff was very attentive. We were there during a lull between lunch and dinner and there were maybe 3-4 other tables. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves!

It was so delicious the first time and even better the second time. Their shrimp Alfredo is the best I've ever had. The sauce is delicious and the shrimp was cooked perfectly I genuinely don't think anything could have been better about it. Their rolls are hot and fresh and the dipping oil it comes with is delish. Chicken Piccata was light and fresh, although the chicken seemed almost poach rather than pan fried seared as described. The side Cesar was very good and the garlic knots were fresh and delicious. Two friends had eggplant parm that looked amazing and was a very large portion. Another had chicken fettuccine which looked equally good. The dining room was filling up as we left and the hard finishes in the dining room make it noisy which wasn't a problem for us, but wouldn't be a good choice for a quiet romantic dinner unless you dined very early or late. Small things when compared to the overall experience.
