TL;DR:
Avoid "Just Call Chuck" at all costs. Chuck and his painter Lorenzo were unprofessional and incompetent, using the wrong paint for my composite porch (confirmed by Sherwin Williams), leading to peeling and chipping. They left paint all over my concrete and grass, finished only part of the job, and used a single coat, causing severe chipping. Despite being paid in full, they abandoned the project unfinished after two months and ignored my attempts to contact them. When I finally reached someone, they were rude and unhelpful. Chuck and his team appear to be scam artists who take your money and run.
Full Review:
I recently had the misfortune of hiring "Just Call Chuck" for a painting job, and I cannot stress enough how terrible my experience was. Christopher, the owner who goes by Chuck, and his painter Lorenzo, demonstrated unprofessionalism and incompetence from start to finish.
First and foremost, Chuck made the decision to paint before an impending rainstorm. When the inevitable happened and the paint job was ruined, he had the audacity to blame me for his poor judgment. To make matters worse, they used the wrong type of paint on my composite porch, opting for regular paint instead of the appropriate kind, which has led to peeling and chipping. Sherwin Williams has confirmed that the paint Chuck used is not correct and has only caused the porch to deteriorate and need a deep sanding.
The quality of their work has been abysmal. Lorenzo managed to get paint all over my concrete and even tossed paint into my grass, leaving unsightly stains that lasted for weeks. There is still paint stains on my concrete that iI was told they will remove - it has not been done.
Despite being paid in full, they left the job unfinished--one door remains unpainted, and several areas are fading due to the lack of multiple coats. Most spots received only a single coat, resulting in chipping and bleeding both inside and outside my home. I am shocked that they painted a porch that is walked on with only one coat. They even left my back porch with large gashes of paint missing, as per the photographs.
When I approached Chuck to address these issues and request the completion of the job as per our contract, his team was incredibly unprofessional. They accused me of asking for free services, despite me only wanting what I had already paid for.
The project, which should have been straightforward, dragged on for two months and is still incomplete. Communication with Chuck was nearly impossible; there were stretches of 2-3 weeks with no response despite my repeated attempts to reach out. Essentially, Chuck took my money and ran, making false promises to return and finish the job, but instead, he disappeared.
The final straw was when I tried to contact him for a resolution, and someone named Devon responded, telling me to "stop texting me because the next message you get is not gonna be very nice." This level of disrespect and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. It became clear at this point that Chuck will not be returning to complete the job.
In conclusion, Chuck and his team at "Just Call Chuck" appear to be scam artists. They provided a sloppy, incomplete paint job, collected full payment, and then vanished without fulfilling their contractual obligations. I strongly urge others to avoid this company at all costs. Save yourself the headache and find a reputable contractor who stands by their work and treats their customers with respect.
UPDATE:
It seems a negative review is what it takes to get a response. After three weeks of silence, you finally replied--though in the most unprofessional way possible.
Let's keep this straightforward. We hired and paid you to paint our front and back porches. The job was not done properly (only one coat was applied, and there were issues with timing). The job wasn't finished either. Additionally, you used the wrong paint on the front porch. Anyone with your claimed experience should know not to use wood paint on a composite deck. Sherwin Williams confirmed this is why the paint job failed.
Regarding the money you claim I did not pay, this is factually incorrect. I have not received an invoice for the garage leak work, which was not completed. Since the work remains unfinished, there has been no request for payment. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
We are clearly disappointed with our experience and wish you the best of luck in your business. However, we are upset that you did not make any effort to resolve and fix your mistakes. read more
