I had a slow kitchen drain to the point where my washing machine would drain and the water would go halfway up my sink. I made a phone call to Daniel, and he explained the possibilities, what he could do, and what he could guarantee and what he could not. He gave me an accurate quote for the job and he stayed in constant communication for the appointment. I was extremely satisfied with that. Daniel came with his father and worked under my sink for an extended period of time using no small amount of physical effort. The amount of grease that came out of that drain was extensive and he took the time to extend the hose all the way in not once but twice. My picture does not do the job justice because I was shocked at the amount of grease that came out and I was a little distracted. We took pictures at the end, as he was scraping the inside of my pvc pipe that was going back in. This is not the first time I have called a different plumber to take care of this same problem. But this is the first time the job was so well done that when my washing machine drained I do not even hear the water going down the drain, no gurgling, and as an added bonus, it seems that the water was draining all the way back into the washing machine, which I wasn't even aware because the clothes are coming out almost dry after the spin cycle. Unfortunately my problem was more serious than he thought since my house was built in the late 80's and needed to redo the drain in my kitchen. Although he explained that my issue required a process of elimination for two showers, he could have troubleshooted in such a way that did not require two trips to Home Depot for parts-- which he said so himself. He essentially billed me twice for two "visits". I didn't have time to negotiate with him so I ate it. He did deduct some small number from the bill as a courtesy but it falls very short of the transparency and courtesy I expect. Do yourself a favor and make sure you hire contractors who are certified in BOTH plumbing AND HVAC. Unfortunately these guys are not. So if the pipes in the ceiling that you can't see lead to the HVAC you will still be obligated to pay the $475 for the consult and they will explain that they can not work on pipes associated with the HVAC. Unless you have X-ray vision and know where the ceiling leak is coming from, hire contractors certified in BOTH plumbing AND HVAC. Lesson learned. read more
