My home studio in Florida has never had an issue with members wearing shoes to and from their…read morestations. However, at this St. Louis location, I've been repeatedly told not to wear my shoes to my reformer. Yesterday, I asked a staff member to email me the written policy or rulebook for this location regarding footwear, but I never received it. To be clear, I do not work out in my shoes. I wear grip socks during class. My concern is that if I need to use the restroom in the middle of class, I'm not going to walk through a public restroom in my socks and then get back on the equipment. I also don't think it's reasonable to expect members to walk all the way to the front of the studio just to retrieve their shoes every time they need to use the restroom. I'm a paying member and I don't think it's unreasonable to ask to see the written policy after being repeatedly corrected. If this location has a different footwear policy than my home studio that's completely fine, but it should be communicated clearly and provided when a paying member requests it. As a customer whose membership helps support this business and helps pay the instructors bills, I expect consistency, transparency, and respect. Also, if we're going to focus on safety and studio standards, I'd like to point out that the reformer I used yesterday had a tear that was approximately 1 1/2 inches long in the upholstery. In my opinion, equipment in that condition should be repaired or replaced immediately. It seems inconsistent to be so focused on members walking to their reformers in shoes while damaged equipment remains in use.

The staff and instructors are always so bubbly, energizing, and supportive. I am instantly happier when I step foot in the building. It's CUTE and PINK, with fun merch and giveaways going on all the time! As this particular class was "Open" level, it was well rounded for all the skill levels who were there. It did not feel competitive, and Anne introduced all the students to one another at the beginning of class (which was really welcoming!) I bought their one month all-you-can-take drop-in class card for $140 (my rate was slightly lower because I am a student). For the drop-ins, you can come to the Pilates mat, Zumba, yoga, Nia, and Gyrotonic classes. It does not include equipment classes, but is still a great deal as they offer so much. Groupon has a deal with them this month-- a $30 private session! Not only is that a lot of savings, but I always recommend that everyone coming into the Pilates modality takes at least one private session. It is a good way to talk one-on-one with a professional trainer about your body, goals, and any previous injuries while getting a good workout. My favorite quote of the day was when our teacher said: "Motion is the lotion for the muscles of the body" I thought that was fantastic!

Their class schedules didn't work with my schedule so I started with one private a week. Now I do 2 or 3 privates a week with Danyal and Erin. The instructor, Grace, was energetic, motivating, and did an absolutely fantastic job of providing clear cues for what we were doing, and prepping for the movements we would be transitioning into. I had taken some pilates-like classes at the local Y, but they didn't prepare me for the world of real Pilates. The P-Y studio offers a free introductory class. That offer drew me in and led to me signing up for 5 private lessons, sorely needed because it was quickly apparent that I have a lot to learn. Though pricier than the Y, the one-on-one lessons were worth it and led me to sign up for 6 week long introductory course.
