Blue Raspberry Peeps - Six blue marshmallow Peeps shaped like chicks with black eyes are arranged in a white box, with a blueberry-flavored Peeps package visible above.

Blue Raspberry Peeps: Peeps never really played a role in my Easter candy experiences as a kid, so they don't carry a nostalgia factor for me. That being said, the handful of flavors I've tried have done little to impress me and I've been somewhat critical of them. Blue raspberry is one of my favorite flavors though and it was enough to get me to buy these for the first time a couple Easters ago. The packaging easily caught my eye as it's a lovely combination of blue and purple hues. Each package contains ten beautiful blue peeps (it doesn't hurt that this shade of blue is my favorite color). A sugary coating covers each marshmallow bird. The flavor is a right on the mark sour blue raspberry, but it's good. All of the sour aspect and flavor comes from the outer coating with the inner marshmallow being like a standard Peep. Interestingly, I'm on the team that believes Peeps are best enjoyed stale (don't knock it until you try it, I was once a non-believer). I find they are best at two to three weeks after being open to the air. The flavor is not altered in any way, but the texture vastly improves. The Peeps become much chewier with each passing week. I don't think I would let them go for more than a month though. If you like any other blue raspberry candies or blue raspberry ICEE's then these are for you. Doughboy approved My favorite Peeps: 1. Ahhh....my favorite candy for Easter. I have always got to have my Peeps. It wouldn't be Easter without them Sugar coated Marshmallow Peeps. Now they have them in a Milk Chocolate Dip. Just a fantastic taste added to the Marshmallow already. Get them early, get them when they are nice and fresh. I usually get mine at Walgreen and Smart and Final stores. They've got Yellow, Pink, Green, Blue and the newest one is Chocolate Dipped. Yah!! Yum....looking for more!!

I recently visited this vegan bakery and tried two of their tarts. First, I want to talk about the…read moretaste. They were fine - good, but nothing crazy or out of this world. I've definitely had better vegan treats before, especially for the price point. One thing that really stood out to me was that there were no prices listed near the tarts or baked goods. Normally that might not be a huge issue, but in this case, I think it's important. When the cashier told us our total was $34, I honestly thought he was joking or had accidentally charged us for a small cake or something. We didn't question it at the time and just paid. Once we got to the car, we started second-guessing whether there had been a mistake. I even went online and checked their ordering page to confirm the prices. To my surprise, there was no error - the tarts are actually $17 each. I can usually justify higher prices if the food is truly exceptional, made with rare or unique ingredients, or if part of the proceeds go toward a meaningful cause. In this case, though, I didn't feel the quality matched the cost. There are several vegan bakeries in NJ that offer better-tasting treats at more reasonable prices. At that price point, I truly hope the workers behind the counter are earning well above minimum wage and that their hourly pay reflects what this place charges for a single tart. If customers are paying premium prices, it would be reassuring to know that the staff is benefiting from that as well. Overall, I think listing prices clearly in-store would help customers avoid sticker shock at checkout. Transparency goes a long way.
