The Carmelcorn Shop is an old-fashioned confectionery shop that opened in Easton, Pennsylvania in…read more1931. It was founded by husband and wife John & Ruth Doherty. In addition to their signature housemade carmelcorn, the shop also specializes in popcorn, fresh roasted nuts, fudge, chocolates, gummies and old-fashioned hard candies. Richard Baskin purchased the shop from the Dohertys in 1985. He in turn sold the shop to husband and wife Tony and Sia Bassil in 1996 and they have owned it ever since. Sia had originally been hired to work behind the counter for the Dohertys in 1977, when she was just 14. She continued to work at the shop, on and off, for several years until she bought it with her husband. My family and I visited The Carmelcorn Shop this past summer while we were visiting relatives in the area. We were exploring Downtown Easton and noticed the storefront. It looked like a really cool place and we were shocked when we saw the sign that read "Since 1931". The shop is pretty small, but it has all sorts of novelty candies. The carmelcorn smelled great! We ended up getting some as well as some old-fashioned candies for our two boys. It's nice to know that there are still old-fashioned candy shops like this still in existence. If you're visiting Downtown Easton, then we recommend that you take a stop at the Carmelcorn Shop for a trip down memory lane.

Instead of being treated like any other customer, I felt singled out and watched in a way that made clear I was being racially profiled. What should have been a normal, pleasant shopping moment instead felt like harassment. I want to be clear: I wasn't doing anything wrong. Looking at merchandise before making a purchase is a completely normal part of shopping, and being treated with suspicion for doing so is not acceptable. It's left a genuinely sour taste in my mouth about visiting this location again. I'll also note that when I asked, staff told me they don't make any candy in-store except for the popcorn.

Got there & was a little taken aback that a bakery has zero display of their baked goods. Just a sign & packaging. So you have to take it on good faith & not have your eyes do the ordering. Not knowing what you're ordering or even having any kind of visual like a picture display or anything is kinda weird but I'm on a binge so ok. A box of 18 is $13. I thought that was reasonable ASSUMING the size of the biscotti is the "usual" size. I got the Almond, the Orange Toffee Pecan, Cranberry Pistachio, and I had her recommend their big seller which was the Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Caramel. As soon as I opened the box, I was disappointed because I could tell there was no anise flavoring. To me, no Italian cookie should be without it. BUT when I did bite into each one, I was happily surprised! They were buttery, flavorful, and with each one, the ingredients TOGETHER were a symphony. As I tried each one, it was hard to choose which one I liked best. Even the plain ol classic almond was delicious. They were on the smaller side but each one was good. Now that I know what to expect, I'll be back!

This place is a rad place just a short drive up from Center Square in Easton, and you might (probably will) miss it. It's about one door in from the corner next to a barber shop, and it's in a big yellow house with an awkwardly steep handicap ramp. You step in, and it's an old school looking place, but who cares, you're here to buy supplies. They have 2 maybe 3 aisles (loose use of the word), and they are stocked to the brim with things you'll need if you want to crank out cakes, candy, chocolates, and the lot. Cake decorators, this place is rad for you. Different colorings (liquid, powder and paste) and a HUGE variety of extracts and oils in teensy little bottles. Weird flavors too. Edible spray paint, powdered egg-whites. You name it, they've got it. They have cake pans, candy molds, bags for goodies, thermometers, lace for decorating, lollipop sticks, magazines and books, and not to mention a handful of sweet people that will answer your questions, even if they are dumb ones. Check this place out for whatever you need candy and cake wise, and
