Raffie (the owner) has been a family friend for a long time. We appreciate all the attention to detail with his gorgeous displays. He hit the mark when it came to the flower choices and cupcake flavors. We chose strawberry, ube, banana turon (my favorite), cookies & cream and pandan. By the end of the night, there were only 3 cupcakes left out of the 12 dozen we ordered. Had a very pleasant experience with Just a Simple Cupcake. My sister's baby shower was coming up and she wanted cupcakes from this bakery because of the unique Filipino flavors. I had ordered 3 dozen cupcakes for my sister's baby shower. Buko pan Dan, ube and Turon cupcakes were delicious! The cupcakes were dense in a good way, but not too sweet. Ube flavor was very subtle. Turon cupcakes had a crispy fried garnish on top, which added to the aesthetics of the cupcake. Each cupcake was simply topped with buttercream frosting. Yum! The price was reasonable. A dozen cupcakes for $24, which is not too bad compared to other bakeries in the Bay Area. Delivery fee was $8 to Richmond/Pinole area, but $6 if you're in Solano County. I was so happy that the cupcakes made it to my house safely and in beautiful condition. Minus one star because there was some miscommunication regarding cupcake flavors. Emails back and forth was helpful, though. Also, my sister called JASC the day of delivery to confirm some details, but they did not respond/call back. What I really appreciated, though, was that JASC included cake toppers for the cupcakes. I ordered the cupcakes a couple weeks in advance, so they did not have the cake stand available to rent anymore, but they threw in the free decorations, which was really nice. Yep, definitely glad I went back to them for my son's birthday this time around! I had to plan this party more or less last minute *cough, I procrastinated lol*, so I was scrambling to get everything together. I remembered how delicious Just a Simple Cupcake was, but was bummed when I saw on their website that they needed at least 3 days notice. It was two days before the event where I asked if they can still take my order, and they were more than happy to do so. When it came to figuring out a delivery time, I was bummed again when they said that the earliest they could deliver on Saturday was between 10-11 and I needed it before then because I was taking to a party in the South Bay that I had to help set up. I didn't make it a big deal because it was my fault to begin with to give them this last minute order. So I had to try to rearrange things so that I could be home to accept the delivery. But to my surprise the night before he emailed me saying that they were able to deliver an hour earlier! He definitely didn't have to do that but the fact that he went above and beyond to accommodate me, without me having to ask him to do so, that was awesome. Thank you SO much Raffie! I just came from Vallejo Farmer's Market and it was nice surprise to come across their cupcake stand. I was shocked that they had unique flavors and it was great that they had samples to try before purchasing. I tried the Buko Pandan and Ube (Taro) being Filipino I knew these flavors and my son tried the Red Velvet. We both thought they were GREAT, moist and flavorful. Yes, the frosting is a vanilla buttercream, but it didn't over power the flavor of the cake or too sweet. To me it was a perfect balance! The customer service was great! Especially when you know exactly what you are selling that's a big plus for me! I support local businesses and will be back next Saturday to hopefully try some of their other flavors. read more

I can't believe it took me this long to write this review. Raffie did the desserts for my wedding, and I could NOT have been happier. I was anti-cake for my wedding, and honestly was thinking about not doing dessert at all. I just wasn't into it. Luckily, my mom had seen Raffie's work at a friend's party and told me that I would like his cupcakes. Man, was she right! Perfectly flavored, not too sweet (although he said he could make them sweeter if we wanted!), and perfect density.
