Jupiter Bakehouse located along Gerrard St. E. near Coxwell Ave in East York is a bakery selling sourdough bread and French pastries. Even prior to their opening, there was already big hype surround the bakery. After opening they've been selling out of their breads close to closing time.
I finally stopped by Jupiter Bakehouse on a Friday afternoon around 3pm. Even before entering the bakery, they have breads lined up where you can see what they have if you look through the window. Upon entering the bakery, you are met with a display of sourdoughs and pastries. The bakery space is primarily take out only although there is a counter and 2 seats to enjoy your baked goods there. The bakery also has coffee where you can get your favourite espresso based drinks.
Looking at the sourdough, the have many types of sourdough breads including beer bread rye, sesame sourdough, honey oat sourdough, Ontario sourdough, as well as a sourdough baguette. There are also burger buns, pretzels, danishes (a tiramisu danish?!), beignets, financiers, croissants, as well as desserts like tiramisu and basque cheesecake.
Too bad I couldn't grab one of their sourdough loafs as I already had bread at home, however, I did get a cortado as well as a plain butter croissant. The cortado was made well and my croissant tasted great. Service was also friendly as well. I enjoyed my coffee inside the bakery for a little bit and the shop had a steady flow of customers coming in to purchase breads and pastries.
Overall, a neighbourhood gem offering a huge variety of sourdough and pastries. Will definitely come back to try their sourdough, other pastries, as well as coffee! This is the one place you definitely want to check out if you are around the Little India area! read more
