I was here on weekday afternoon to work and have coffee. It is a small and cosy place with limited spots to sit. The Barista was very friendly and courteous. They had few interesting coffee options to try but I stuck to Americano. The coffee beans were well balanced and good flavours. I would recommend going here if you're in the area. read more

I love the coffee and I love the staff! I go in here with the kid I take care of sometimes and they always offer us a "babycinno" (which is just a tiny short cup with steamed milk) and he always thinks he's getting his morning coffee. There's limited seating but I think the vibe is more the grab and go which I do appreciate. I've had my lattes both hot and iced and I enjoy both! There's something so satisfying about ethnic/cultural coffee shops. All the familiar ingredients and flavours on the menu makes you feel so farm and cozy. I thoroughly enjoyed coming here. We got a hailed latte, which was phenomenal and they gave it to us in this nice big cup, which I love. We also got a za'tar croissant and Nutella croissant-- both were delicious. I love anything with za'tar in it and it's so hard to find croissants with it, so this was very exciting! I love coming to Hailed and I look forward to being back. Definitely also try the ma'moul they're so soft and filled generously. I got the pistachio but I've had the date ones as well they're both good. Their lemon poppyseed cake and muffins are also so tasty and moist. read more

Visited this afternoon for another pistachio and saffron latte. I finally had the opportunity to grab a seat and enjoy my latte in the store. Once again, it was fantastic. The shop was very calm and relaxing. I also tried a free sample of their delicious house-made chocolate (I believe it was cardamom infused), and it's convinced me to pick some up the next time I need to give a small gift. A special find in toronto. A cute shop with quality made edibles and coffee. Baked goods are made in-house the morning of. Hailed is the Arabic word for cardamom, and as such, a number of their baked goods and coffee have cardamom in it as per the Saudi standard of coffee. I had the pistachio-saffron latte, and the Rose pistachio shortbread cookie and it was pretty amazing. I totally recommend it. Green P street parking available. Staff are friendly. No cash. This might be my favourite cafe in the east end! It's really tiny (yet inviting) and has very friendly service. They love playing blues in the early morning, which always amps me up. I enjoy looking at the plants as well and plan on buying some little guys (along with a new French press). As I was on my way to Wonder Pens, I saw Hailed Coffee and knew I had to try it seeing the space in the cafe as well as the aesthetics! So I got their regular latte which is cheaper by a couple dimes from their hailed-coffee. Because of my awkwardness, I didn't ask what the difference was but I'm assuming the specialty coffee they use is different. For $5.25 I got a regular latte in store. The espresso wasn't too strong and the latte was very smooth. I'm not a coffee expert but it was definitely a good cup of coffee. And the cup is pretty decent size as well. However, the cost is pricier than most coffee shops I've been to. For seating, there are two tables at the front and five in the back. Around afternoon time, there was still lots of space and I got a whole table to myself! I saw that they have wifi so be sure to ask if you need it. Barista was friendly as well! read more

This was an impromptu visit to this area as was in the vicinity. This neighborhood's main strip seems to be on the way up as a lot of new establishments on this stretch of Gerrard. The setup is clean with an open concept and an airy feel. Nice display area with an assortment of desserts on the offer. I tried a cortado as had my cappuccino fix earlier on. Here is verdict Espresso:Medium/light Crema': OK Milk: Done well Latte Art: OK. Decent attempt at a cortado. Now for the bad I tried a bit of the pistachio madeline. Oh boy something was really off as the rose essence completely overwhelmed even the mighty pistachio. The filling idea is interesting but poorly executed IMO. Now for the service hmmm not sure what to say when the barista orders your around to do the chores they are paid to do! I don't think I will revisit 2.5 stars. read more

If you're looking for something extraordinary, Hailed Coffee is a very special coffee shop serving Turkish coffee and cardamom flavoured lattes. The Turkish coffee is golden yellow, more like the colour of tea than coffee and also drinks more like tea. It is very light in flavour, but we were told that it is very highly caffeinated, much more so than normal coffee so if you're looking for that kick you know where to go! I loved the special Hailed Latte that was flavoured with cardamom - delicious. They also have all sorts of dates that you can taste - I didn't know that there were so many different kinds! I am very impressed with Hailed Coffee. I am surprised at finding such a nice coffee shop in this neighborhood. This is my first time to try Turkish Coffee. It is very tasty and smooth. This is my best coffee in my life. The place is very clean and bright. They do not have many seats, but they have good size table if you want to bring your laptop to work. Hailed stands out from the endless plethora of same-old-same-styled boutique/indie coffee shops in Toronto simply by bringing contemporary Arabic coffee culture to the scene. That should be enough to make you come for a taste, or so I hope. You could have a cappuccino, or you could "make it hailed" (basically get it cardamom-ized, yo). You can also try a handful of their handful selection of dates. Whatever you do, definitely go for their lovely-n-sweet pistachio baklava. Watch out for lifestyle blogger/Instagrammer types falling in love with the minimalist space. But if you decide to go the extra mile for the Arabic coffee experience ($9 for a small pot suitable for 2), be forewarned. Firstly, it takes quite a while for a pot to brew. Secondly, it takes even longer for you to enjoy--next thing you know, you've been here all afternoon! It's quite a delicate tea-like aroma and experience, and maybe it's a good thing they open late on Fridays and Sats. Great cafe in the Riverdale area! There is free WiFi but fairly minimal seating (although not too crowded around 3-5pm on a weekday). The barista was super nice and recommended different drinks to try - I got the hailed latte and my fiancé got an iced tea. If you're looking for a kick ass cup of morning joe, Hailed Coffee is where it's at! Their ice latte is my go-to when I feel restless in the morning especially on a Monday morning. There is no seating inside the coffee shop. There are tables and chairs outside. So if you're not running late, it was definitely a great place to chill! 4.5 Well walked a round trip of 30 minutes in -7C (though sunny) to get to this bookmarked place. I can't say there was an even comparison to other coffees I've had because I decided to get their known Hailed latte (cardamom infused!). Not sure if it was the added flavor but it wasn't bitter at all. I should go back just to test out their plain Americano. But this was a tasty cuppa! I would recommend. I really didn't need to add sugar since the flavor was just enough. I also had the bechamel croissant. Did not regret that choice at all. A pretty good croissant for sure, flakey, fluffy, soft, moist flavorful.... But I just minused the 0.5 because it's still not as good as my favorite croissant at cherry bomb and these were not made on site. But still pretty darn good. Id go back for seconds. Decor is pretty simple, blank white walls, it would be nice to feature local artists work. Good service. I really hope they do well! Too bad they aren't along the busier queen street in leslieville but hey, I walked pretty far to try this place and it was worth it! Quaint little coffee shop in East Chinatown. My friend and I stopped by here after seeing a show at Crow's Theatre and figured we could stop for a drink. We both got the Hailed Cappuccinos and they were pretty good ($4.00+tax=$4.20). The latte art was also cute. I'd come back here to try the Turkish Coffee because I noticed they had that on the menu. Beautiful wooden tables, topped with a tiny potted succulent. The lighting is amazing for photos inside, lots of natural lighting bouncing off the white. It has a super peaceful, quiet, relaxed feel. In all honesty, it gives me a bit of a Japanese vibe. Me and my friend visited one day, after seeing a friend post some photos online. Just went once, nice spot and has upper crusty young clientele. Had the Hailed Latte which was nicely presented, with decent espresso. The fresh ground twist of cardamom for 20-30 cents is interesting if you don't want a straightforward Italian coffee. The spice lends a leafy woody bitterness and some pod chaff, and the warm spice slightly obscures the coffee - a tiny bit of sugar helps balance the herb. Not bad yet I could pass on the 'hail' the next time and order a regular latte. I'm also curious to try their Arabic and Turkish coffee. -- oops! -- this business charged me tip on the tax, which is a silly and greedy move and I may not return. *** Note to business owner, TAX is not a service, and you may not charge me tip on it. I ordered 6 things: Spanish latte Edible latte Butter croissant Simsim cake Cardamella Praline Orange Cardamom Tart First of all... when I got to the restaurant, I picked up my pre-order and asked for a spoon to EAT the edible latte. Mind you the restaurant has ZERO seating so I would have eaten it outdoors, but they refused to provide us with spoons. HOW do you not give spoons? Their lackluster service is probably why the entire experience went downhill. I had their spanish latte which was excellent. One of the best coffees I've ever had. My son ate the croissant. I'm guessing he enjoyed it because he ate the entire thing. When I got home I tried the Cardamella praline... and it tasted super similar to the edible latte. All of their desserts have a similar profile because they put cardamom and pistachio in almost everything. The orange tart was not done well (it's incredibly difficult to do get orange right in dessert). The simsim cake had an over powering tahini taste. Overall, it's overrated... except their coffee. Great space, and friendly staff. The flowering jasmine iced tea is nice and refreshing on a hot summer day. It's paired nicely with their classic chocolate croissant. Their croissant is not the flaky French croissant, but still very good and not bready. The "make it hailed" cappuccino is really really good, with a hint of Cardamon. Hailed is the definition of an aesthetically pleasing cafe. It is so crisp and clean and bright inside. Very contemporary as well as unique in its menu. Which is why it stands out so much from the endless amounts of independently owned coffee shops in Toronto. Hailed coffee continues to delight - at least at their Gerard and Logan. The service this Saturday morning (Dec. 7) was friendly and brisk. The espresso was served in a proper, pre-heated, espresso cup with a properly sized spoon (a situation which seems to elude so many coffee shops). The coffee itself is ground for each order, fresh and not over-extracted. Judging from the fulsome flavour, some care went into the roasting. The almond croissant was fresh and delicious. I've been disappointed quite a lot by this coffee shop. But since it's the only cafe open at the time I'm out the door I have no other choice, and wish I was getting my money's worth everytime (so expensive!!) First time I tried their brewed coffee I literally thought I drank cat piss. Not sure if I keep getting a bad batch or something but it was really horrible. For a coffee place though this is something you should nail every time. Their croissants are good, but again pricey which is fine. I think this place only attracts people for it's "Instagramable ness" but that's all a load of shit to me because when you die, you don't wanna have a memory of that ok coffee you had that one morning... so why take a photo at all.
