The name really says it all, it's remarkable. Walking distance from the beaches vet, I was having a very bad time with my dog when I stopped in to this cute little coffee shop. The vibes overall were VERY PLEASANT and the coffee helped to calm my nerves while waiting for my dog. I did ask for almond milk and was given regular milk. Remarkable Bean is a good place to stop by and do a little work or lounge on a sofa while doing a little crossword. There's a good amount of seating in a very cozy and close space. The service at the counter is quick and simple, and the password for the wifi is displayed on the register. The matcha latte and the cookie I had were decent, but nothing I would go out of my way for. If I was in the area and looking for a cafe that was open later, I would visit again! read more

Thank God for Remarkable Bean. They are one of the last bastions of old school freshly roasted coffee beans, tasting the way beans were meant to taste. Thankfully these guys have been gracing the Beach neighborhood with great coffee and pastries for decades. Their pastries still taste the same way they used to taste, made with the same recipes and that same homemade flair as always. I've been there many years ago and it had great drinks and pastries with excellent customer service. The pastries and drinks remain great but the employees need to learn how to engage with customers. This location is my go to coffee shop in the Beaches. It's always busy and has a strong clientele. I really like the fact that I see the same people everyday, it gives the place a lot of character! There's been a lot of change within the staff over the years but everyone is always very nice and very quick! The coffee is my personal favourite in the city (the beans are roasted in the cafe). You can always tell when they've began roasting the coffee because the entire neighbourhood smells of it, which I personally love! All the baked goods are to die for. There's so many options from chocolate chip banana bread to zucchini muffins! Everything is also baked in the cafe the same day! I don't ever see this place going out of business because I believe it's the most iconic part of the Beaches! read more

this was the first location on my "cafe adventure" challenge and it was a wonderful start! they have lots of flavourings for their drinks available (i got vanilla like the basic person i am) like hazelnut, caramel and irish cream! i asked for food recommendations as there was so many options and i eventually settled on their raspberry croissant - which was delicious btw! the barista working atm was friendly and chatty and we bonded over barista problems 101. he was even kind enough to not charge me for the flavouring - barista discount he said after my visit, i had accidentally spilled some coffee and we fought over who would clean it up hehe! the thing i love most of small businesses is the connections you experience! i loved the cafe and it's relaxing atmosphere. i'm so excited to visit again! read more

Came in, got greeted by two very friendly staff. I ordered a double espresso and tried one of their pannini (bacon and tomato). Even though it was almost 10am, the place was full and with a constant in & out of people. What caught my attention though is the fact that everyone seemed to know one another. People's names were flying all over the place and that showed me that this place has a very loyal customer base. Now for the drink and food: the double espresso was spot on. Not too strong, not weak, and not too hot (and definitely not cold) either. A nice taste and a very nice and gentle aftertaste too. Now, I wish I could say the same for the pannini. While it was far from being terrible, it was not the best either. The pannini is really small and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who wants to make it a breakfast meal, unless you eat like a bird. On the good side, the ingredients were fresh and the pannini was nicely warmed up. For $7.20 I thought that it was a little expensive for what I was getting. The place in itself, although very small, is cozy and despite its simple décor it's a nice place to hang out. It's understandable why so many people seemed like regulars, especially considering how nice the staff was and the good quality of the coffee. read more

I just went there (June 2nd 2pm) and had a VERY UNPLEASANT experience. The man 'helping' me was extremely rude. I felt disrespected, and it felt like I was being rushed out the door (even though I was the only person in the store). On top of all this my coffee (I asked for a simple coffee with cream) was absolutely disgusting. It was so disgusting I couldn't even finish it. I also got the Breakfast Panini. The man just tossed it freezing cold into a paper bag (loose with nothing else inside). It was equally disgusting. This is a great café in the beach area. I just came here for the first time and liked it a lot! Not only their coffee is 'remarkable' but also the staff are friendly. There are few benches outside were you can sit and enjoy your espresso! I highly recommend it. Parking is on the street and they have free wi-fi. read more

For a time, I lived down the street from the Remarkable Bean and to me, it is the absolute ideal coffee shop. Even its particular smell, of freshly roasted coffee and newly baked cookies, still sticks in my mind. Remarkable Bean is all well-worn wood and tastefully chosen photographs, for sale by artist. They've got chess on the tabletops and a pot of soft brown sugar on the condiment bar. In wintertime, steamed up windows offer a perfect refuge from the weather outside, or a good place to stop for a to-go coffee that'll warm up your mittens. I used to love buying a coffee and a cookie and then walking down a few blocks to enjoy them on the beach. read more

I'm a big fan of patronizing the local small shops rather than the chains. Unfortunately this place is about 25 mins from my house by foot, so not always the most convenient. I normally grab a cup if I'm at the organic grocer or Ed's ice cream right on the same block. The people are really friendly here, and they serve organic free-trade coffee for the same price as a cup of coffee else where. If I lived closer I'd definitely be a daily regular. They also have baked goods which look absolutely scrumptious but I haven't tried it yet. read more

Awesome java spot in the East end of the Beaches. Rocket Fuel is my fav, and an accurate moniker. Always seems to be a couple people in line and lots sitting down inside the Bean. Good sign. Treats are yummy, try the savory Red Pepper and Cream Cheese Muffin. Surprisingly scrumptious. Great place to stop on the way to Purple Park with the kids. Good Coffee and sweet treats make someone else's screaming kids seem a little more bearable. read more

I love it here. I recently completed 18 months of grad studies, and this was, by far, my favourite spot for studying. At one point, I was averaging about 9 hours a week in this cafe. In addition to being a great place to study, it also has the benefit of being a great place to not study. Whenever you've been hitting the books too long, you can just look around and start chatting with someone at the next table or comfy chair. I enjoy chatting with strangers, and this is a good place to do so. It's almost like a bar in that way. Coffee is excellent here. Savoury muffins are delicious and ecclectic. Quiche will ruin you for any other. Folks are friendly and, unlike a growing number of businesses, they really do have free wifi. read more

This is one of the best coffee places in Toronto - outside of Everday Coffee Roasters in St. Lawrence Market, Balzac's in the Distillery district, and The GreenBeanery on Bathurst/Bloor. What sets these places apart from big box chain competitors, such as Tim's, Starbucks, and Second Cup, is that they roast their own coffee beans on site. This place enjoys an almost cult-like following in The Beach. if you stop by on a Sunday morning, you'll encounter a large line of loyal coffee junkies snaking out the door. Yes the coffee is that good, and it's fair trade as well. You can feel good downing that large cup of coffee, knowing that men, women and children, where not screwed over by muli-national corporations for it. read more

I am new in Toronto and new to The Beaches. A friend recommended this place. I have been there 3 times so far. Susan the owner has here own recipes for baking and they are wonderful. She has a few different bakers working for her but they are very consistent with the recipes. The chocolate brownies are gluten free I was told after finished one. It was delicious and I couldn't tell that it wasn't a normal one. I can also recommend the chicken pot pie. They make a great cup of coffee. But it is one of the only places that makes a decent cup of tea! Susan's daughter does the hiring and the staff is very good. read more

Even though the Beaches is one of my favourite neighbourhoods in the city, I rarely make the trip over from the west end. So when I do come over, I enjoy trying a new spot every trip. This time, it was the Remarkable Bean. Outside, there were numerous patrons talking, reading the paper and drinking their coffee on this lovely (finally) Spring day. I figured, man, if the locals are all here, it must be worth checking out. I really did enjoy the decor inside. It's very homey and comforting; I could see myself coming here in the winter to curl up and read. Sadly, the coffee I had was very pedestrian to put it kindly. Heated water with a hint of coffee may have been a better description. Maybe it was just a bad pot, or not the right beans for me, but it was definitely poor. It's a rare day when I can say I would have rather stopped by a Tim Horton's, if that tells you anything. I will give this place another shot when I'm in the neighbourhood and maybe try out some pastries next time. Perhaps that's where the secret good stuff lies? read more

This is a sweet little joint that roasts its own coffee beans, makes an excellent chai latte (both dairy and soy), a good cappuccino and a great selection of delicious quiches, baked fresh daily. The service is friendly and quick. The furniture is eclectic, presumably to satisfy different needs: there are comfy chairs and an upholstered sofa in the back (upstairs) for longer-term loungers, there is a large table with wooden benches for larger groups and there are also chess tables equipped with pieces, to keep you occupied. Note to wheelchair users: while the coffee bar itself is wheelchair accessible, I believe the bathrooms are one floor below, only accessible by stairs. read more

This was one of the first places I visited when I moved to Toronto as I was staying in an apartment above the cinema next door, I had arrived from England and was jet lagged and in need of a real pick me up remarkable bean did the trick! The latte was smooth and not at all bitter and cinnamon roll warm and so fresh. We came here almost everyday until we moved to midtown and how I miss it so! Ive been back since to buy a bag of coffee and send it home to the relatives they loved it that much! A little pricey but average in terms of coffee in the city but you pay for quality. Inside you are greeted by a large selection of cakes and pastries and very friendly staff. It was always busy and not much room to que but the baristas got things moving pretty fast! There is a couple of benches placed outside which are lovely to sit on and people watch during a nice day! Great place to stop and grab a coffee or some beans. They are known for roasting their own beans, but I think the best part is their baked good. They always have a great selection to choose from and everything I have tried has been great. The savoury muffins are always worth trying and the mixed berry have about a 50/50 mix of berries to batter, which is exactly how I want my muffins to be. read more

I was so pleased when I simply asked what the Rocket Fuel coffee was about on the menu, I was given a sample - No questions asked. Its a Drip. It was delicious and smooth and delightful. I also found out AFTER I ordered a full cup, that it was their Darkest roast,... the kicker is - I Hate dark roast. Always. I may have been converted. They also have the roaster in the shop - so literally, fresh off the roast this stuff seems to be. Will visit again soon for sure! read more

After hearing many positive reviews about their coffee and savoury muffins, I decided to head there myself after finding that F'Coffee was closed at 5. Lo and behold, it's a good thing they closed early. The journey was -VERY- far, BUT it was worth it. I ordered a medium mocha with whip cream and it was delicious! Not too strong or too chocolatey, but just right. Of course I had to try their muffins too. I got the broccoli cheddar muffin and thought to myself... I travelled almost around an hour and a half to get here.. hell, I'm gonna buy another muffin. SO I DID. I also got the chili.. something muffin. (Both were delicious) but it was not a good pairing with my mocha. I know it would have went well with a tea or something, but overall this place was great! read more

I ran in really quick for something to eat for breakfast while I was on my way to work. I didn't expect much but was blown away! I had a slice of quiche and it was so fantastic. I also really liked the look of the interior and wished I had time to sit back and relax. I have never had bad service here. The coffee is good and priced very reasonably. The chai latte is delicious. And they have a savory broccoli and cheese muffin that is out of this world. And the place does smell great! Yum... fresh baking! The only problem is it's a bit crowded around the cash/pick up area, so sometimes you have to do a polite dance around other people trying to enter and exit. After a long walk in the summer heat, my friend and I stopped into the Remarkable Bean for a drink to cool us off. We were immediately greeted by the two friendly barristas (owners, perhaps?), as we took at the menu. We didn't notice any iced options on the menu, but when we inquired, we were told they could make just about anything iced. My friend chose an iced latte, and I went for an iced mocha. They also had some baked goods on display, so I treated myself to a brownie. Yummy chocolate overload! I don't live anywhere near the Beaches, but next time I'm in the area, I'll certainly go back. read more
