I decided to check this place out today after seeing so many positive reviews online and a suggestion to try their hot chocolate, first the positive the baked goods did look good, but I had eaten recently so I decided on just the hc, they have free wifi, and the barista that served me was pleasant but!, First I was charged a dollar more than what was on the board making my small hot chocolate almost 4 bucks. I thought no biggie it must be a good hot chocolate. It was the worst hot chocolate I've ever had! Lukewarm as soon as I received it and almost completely tasteless except for a pungent and sour milk after taste. I really wasn't going to make a negative review for this until one of the employees a blonde lady in a pink hat started yelling in the kitchen swearing and calling someone the most vile names imaginable it was an extremely unpleasant and unprofessional experience. I would definitely not recommend this cafe and based on my experience fail to see why it's received such positive reviews, left very dissapointed. read more

I discovered this wonderful place last night and was dying to go in. It's been a long time since a coffee place in Toronto has caught my eye for it's unique atmosphere. This morning my friends and I went to get some coffee and a pastry to cure our hangovers. I bought a large dark roast coffee with a butter croissant and enjoyed ever drop of coffee that was in my cup with every bite of my croissant. I can't say I'd had a drip coffee that I've actually enjoyed. Their pastries all looked amazing and it looked like a place I would love to sit for hours reading a book or knitting. I work at Starbucks and I have to say that their drip coffee puts Starbucks drip coffee to shame! Go to this Toronto delight if you're looking for coffee that isn't crap! read more

My non-chain coffee house of choice. I buy 'Rocket Fuel' whole beans weekly because a day without Rocket Fuel is a bad day. Friends and family love The Bean's blends so much that I ship out in November to the U.S. and overseas for Christmas. The only downside to this location is that due to the placement of the counter, any more than 2 people waiting in line causes absolute gridlock. There's no flow at all....and if you dare to show up during the morning rush hour or at lunch or when school gets out...be prepared to get up close and personal with fellow patrons. In all the years I`ve been buying beans and/or coffee at The Bean I've only shown up once during the morning rush hour....and that was enough to cure me from doing so again. Great staff; can't say enough about how warm and friendly they all are.....love the brownies, banana bread and chocolate croissants but please fix your dang traffic flow! read more

Part of what keeps me happy in my Beaches neighbourhood is my local coffee shop, The Remarkable Bean. I'm a coffee snob, and so I love the fact that they roast their own organic free-trade beans, and it's seriously great coffee. Baked goods are awesome, and the staff are great. read more

it's in a really quite neighborhood but the residents are not so quite though. the music is good as it gets, a really nice jazz that will calm u down and help u to study. it's really small and stuffed 8 people will fill the place. so i recommend to go there during the weekdays. u will not regret it read more

This family owned coffee shop was in the beaches way before coffee shops popped up on every corner. They have different roasts, medium, dark, extra dark and rocket fuel. I ordered an iced Americano which was very strong, but good. The prices of the coffee drinks are inexpensive. They also have a nice selection of baked goods made on sight. In the Beach, this is the place where the locals go. By far, one of the best coffee shops. Coffee is amazing. And they recently started serving frappuccinos that are awesome. Also, they bake they own muffins etc. Blueberry is great! This place rocks. So much better than the chain places. read more

Funky little place with decent espresso and relaxed location. House made baked goods. Friendly locals. Not fan of the drip coffee as much. I've mentioned a few times the drip used to be much better, in my opinion. It seems I did get sick from a panini sandwich once this past year, it was chicken with some kind of sauce, and was heated in the sandwich press although not served totally heated through. This place is truly one of the best coffee shops in the East end. The laid-back decor and atmosphere is hip in a way hipsters are not. The coffee is excellent, and roasted in house, with many roasts to choose from! The baked goods are quite good, with lots of selection. And everything is reasonably priced! This place has the best dark roast coffee in Toronto. Try the Rocket Fuel if you like great coffee and you won't be disappointed. If you are GF and even if you are not their baked goods are also fabulous. The place could use a little sprucing up and although I have never had an issue with hygiene or health issues, the place comes off as a little grungy. I live a couple of blocks from this place. I always go in for a skim latte. Their espresso is one of the best in the city as far as I'm concerned. Their staff is very friendly. Just be warned if you go in on the weekend in the morning, and you order a special drink you will have to wait. read more

This is a must go in the beaches. I found this place a few years ago when my coffee maker went to coffee maker heaven and now I go at least a few times a week even though I work from home. This place is small but always clean and staff is always super friendly. I finally broke down awhile ago and got the carrot cake it was as good as Mom makes. Since I'm a regular and not a coffee Nazi they always have my coffee ready when i get to the cash since they know i just want a "normal cup of java". I come here just when work gets crazy and need that jolt of great coffee taste. read more

not too shabby. if you drink a lot of coffee and are somewhat of an aficonado then you'll probly want to check it out. the coffee tastes great. that said, there's not a whole lot of other upside to this place. its crowded and crampt. there were people practically lined up to sit on that bench that sits outside the shop lol. inside i couldn't find a seat....but that was ok because it was nice to just sip my coffee and enjoy walking thru the beach. not a place i'd want to go and read a book or anything. the service was quick. overall had a nice lively vibe to it. *** # of visits: 1 will i return: maybe recommend: coffee black read more
