I spoke with Zach and Nick to set up both a move and junk haul on 06/12/23 from a storage unit to my new home. I gave dimensions of the storage space and was told they would be able to accommodate. A majority of my belongings were to be hauled off to recycle or donated to shelters. 2 very distinct piles were made. One to be moved and one going to landfill. They hauled off one load to the dump station, while leaving my possessions to move to my new space with my mom and self at the storage unit During this time my mom and I came across personal and sentimental items. We made a very small pile, 25 ft away so as not to mix or confuse with any donations or junk. I would have placed in my car, however it was filled with breakables. They finished loading their truck with: landfill and my pieces to move. Confirmed they had everything separated, however there was no line of demarcation between the two. They moved me in, were extremely rushed because they had a hot tub removal they were late for, and ended up scratching my wood floor with my 600 lb entertainment center. I was able to buff it out and use a stain to repair it. This is not my complaint A few days later, while unpacking I noticed I did not have some of the boxes from my special pile! It was 2 boxes , brightly colored, full of Christmas ornaments over the last 53 yrs. Tearing up writing this review. Childhood ornaments, given by beloved grandparents who passed, paw print in ceramic by my dog who is no longer with my. Ornaments from the orphanage from where I adopted my daughters, bronzed baby shoes, Ornaments from my daughters childhood in Russia and a series of collectibles, My girlfriends of 45 yrs( every yr since high school we give one another an ornament) The lost symbols of precious memories, gone I called the company immediately to report. Nick or Zach stated they would look at the donation sites and never got back to me I recently called to ask for compensation, even though there is not a price tag on my items. Nick is very young and was very dismissive, however stating he was sorry but there was nothing he could do. Clearly unable to understand the impact this would have on a person. I asked to speak to his boss, but was told he was in charge and there was nothing his boss would do as far as compensation. Called to make an appointment for the weekend and booked them for both Saturday and Sunday at around the same time to dump a storage unit. Zach reached out to me to coordinate location and time and they came pretty much on time, gave me the pricing information, and all I had to do was tell them what to get rid of. Simple as that! Their truck is 12 cubic feet to give you some idea but we dumped half of our 10'x14' storage unit that was filled to the brim with furniture, boxes, etc and will be dumping the other half today (which likely won't require a full truck today). Great people to work with, would recommend them to anyone! I submitted Yelp bids to six companies, including my phone number. I practically got an immediate response (4 minutes) from Junk Xpress - an email and call. In fact, they were​ the only ones who called and it was before anyone else even sent an email. Zach confirmed a few details, quickly gave me a price and was willing to offer a discount. Two guys and a truck were at my door only 15 minutes from when I hit send to submit my ​request! They were nice, professional and fast. This company sucks. Don't use them. The first time we used them, they were four hours late. They were quick and efficient, so we thought we'd use them again. The second time we tried to use them, they said they'd come at 11am. At noon, we hadn't heard from them so we called and they said they did a drop off at the dump so they could have an empty truck, and said they were en route and would be here any minute. They didn't show up. At 1pm, they said they had a flat tire and would be here by 2pm. At 2pm, they said the flat tire wasn't fixed and they didn't know when they would be here. At 2:30pm, they said they were just leaving another job (not empty truck) and would be here in an hour. We ended up hiring another company instead. We hired Bay Junk and they got here in about 40 minutes. Junk Xpress delayed every hour, time and time again, with all kinds of excuses, and their excuses didn't even all line up. They lied to us, and wasted our time. We wish we had never called them. In short, don't use Junk Xpress. Read the one star reviews and you'll see all kinds of other bad reviews. YIKES. The only positive thing I might state is this small business was able to serve me same day. I'm ok if people are running behind, but over 2 hours late is not acceptable. I was notified of the crew running late, but was contacted by 3 different people/teams, and they were unaware of my situation, amount of items needing removal, or what I had communicated to the 'boss'. On my first call it was requested of me to send a video of what needed to be removed; which I complied. After I received a quote, I provided my address, and 3 hours later, we were moving forward. A two man crew arrived (no masks, no hand washing, zero concern for safety). One hauler was on the phone with his boss literally fighting about a paycheck issue and hours worked (inside my home) - I could hear the owner on the other end. This went on while another hauler tried to swindle me and told me my payment would be $200 more than what I was quoted. Next, I took control and told the haulers what I was quoted, what needed to be removed, and how to behave. They proceeded to just drag the items down the stairs with a crap attitude, you could hear glass breaking on each stair. The two man team flooded my sidewalk first, then carefully added items into a truck that was dangerously full. I watched the team pull away once complete. This team refused to take items that were not in my video, but quoted to me. There are many players in this industry, please AVOID THIS COMPANY. Just moved to SF from Europe into a totally empty place. With today's packaging standards, our place was unfortunately quickly filled up to the ceiling with cardboard, plastic and styrofoam from all the furniture. So it's weird to Raven bout a junk hauling service, but these guys are absolutely the best of almost any service we've ever hired! We put out a request for some quotes to take a bunch of boxes and assorted junk for us - we've been spending our shelter in place cleaning out our storage area, getting rid of things we just don't need - several places never even bothered to get back to us. Zach at junk express got back to us almost immediately with a very fair quote. Which would've been good enough - but then we added about three times more stuff than we thought we had and the quote actually didn't go up by very much. The workers came promptly exactly when they said they would and took out boxes and boxes full of Stuff we pulled out of storage and closets etc. etc. They wore masks, kept their social distancing and had our basement cleared out in a matter of minutes. I had used this company in the past and I was happy until today. I hired JunkXpress with the understanding that they would recycle, donate my things to shelters, and give my things to places like GoodWill and last resort the things they couldn't save would then go to the junkyard. They promoted this and this is why I hired them. I received a call from the owner of China State Park in Marin County, CA that they have found my belongings illegally dumped in their location along with some other folks belongings. He said it was the worst illegal dump he had ever seen. I am very disappointed and disgusted with this company as I hired them to do their job and to do what they promised. And that was not to take my money and dump my things illegally in a state park! I advise anyone that considers this company to go elsewhere. They need to loose their license and have their company shut down. What a shame makes me feel ill that my belongings have now been added to landfill. I had a dozen 33-gallon bags of trash I needed hauled away. I had dragged them out in front of my house, so all the two guys had to do was load them onto their truck and get paid. Easy, least five minute task. They showed up on time, were masked and polite. No complaints whatsoever. I knocked off a star because the cost was a good 25% higher than the high end of the estimate I was given online. DON'T PAY them until they FINISH THE JOB! DON'T give them your CREDIT CARD NUMBER! I hired Junk Xpress (Zack's team) to remove our construction waste in Dec 2019. The price we agreed on is $730. However, after they worked for 1hr, they called me (I was out during that time) and said they cannot fit all the trash in the truck. They would collect $400 for "initial deposit" and come back later. I agreed and gave them my credit card number. Later that day I found they charged us $400 for THREE times, which is $1200 in total. I asked them and they blamed Square for charging users multiple times. They promised to refund me ALL and charge $730 in the end. 2 days later they came back and finished the job, then charged me $730 on site. I thought it might take a few days for the refund to go through, so I paid again. BUT the refund never happened. I tried to dispute it with my bank, but Junk Xpress just rejected it without any evidence (I kept all text messages with Zack). Everytime I contacted them, they either said "Zack has relocated to the San Diego team", or "I will look into it" and never replied. So DON'T PAY THEM UNTIL THEY FINISH THE JOB! (I just saw Loren A.'s post on Yelp on Aug 7 2020, which has a similar story) DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER! Update: I just found the receipts through Square. There were TWO $400 charges at 11AM that day and ONE $400 charge at 2PM. So it wasn't Square's bug. Junk Xpress just stole $1200 from me and they are LIAR! read more

PLEASE BEWARE!!! Do NOT hire! They are very UNprofessional. Their employee's left items behind at my jobs storage facility where they were hired by one of our tenants to remove the contents of a unit and Junk Xpress guys conveniently left items (a Queen and a Twin Mattress along with the frames). I called this morning and when i called from the business line they did not answer and they did not answer the call from the person who hired them. They did answer my call when I called from my personal phone (kinda suspect, right?). The woman who answered the call used the excuse that the guys who left the items there couldn't take them because their truck was full and they had another job to go to afterwards (??? I guess they don't pick up all the items from the jobs they get paid to do? I looked at my cameras and their truck was half way full but maybe trying to charge extra by saying it was full). Now I know they are aware as she remembers that items were left behind. I called back later to see when they were coming to remove items from facility and again the same woman (I think her name is Annette) answered and said that she tried calling the drivers but they were not answering her calls (*scratching my head* why wouldn't your employee's answer work calls when they were answering calls here in the facility yesterday?). I called back a few more times to get an ETA of what time they would be in to pick up the items but no one answered anymore. At this point, they know the numbers I was calling from (SMH). I work for my business where our customers come first and we resolve or explain any problems but not leave our customers hanging without any type of answers. I know sometimes mistakes are made but they are doing nothing to fix this. I guess they don't care, they already got paid for the job and just don't care anymore. Shame on this company!! It's now the next day and I called back today the same woman answered and when I told her who I was she hung up on me and when I called back, she doesn't pick up all of a sudden (so unprofessional). You don't hang up on someone or cut communication with an issue they made happen. I myself handle the situation head on and give details and help resolve the problem to my customers or make to make them aware we are working on it. I guess their way of handling issues are to just hang up on you when it gets bad or just cut all communication with you if you have an issue otherwise they answer the calls promptly. Hopefully no one runs into issues with them or they will avoid you. I just threw away the flyers I requested from them to refer our customers to their business. I would not refer anyone to this place again. I'll be referring my customers to another junk company and letting them know the way this place works when they ask. Terrible service. They quoted me $700.00 over the phone after reviewing several pics. Upon arrival, they requested $978.00, which I agreed to. They were here for an hour removing backyard junk when one of the guys suddenly knocked on my door and said --- they needed to go to another appointment to dump a few mattresses that they would be back in two hours. So, they collected $450.00 and never came back. We reached the person in charge once, he said, he'd look into it and call us back, and never did. We tried reaching them again several times where they sent us directly to voicemail each time and never responded to text messages.
