We have been enjoying The Plaza Theater so spending a little more time in Palm Springs and this will be one of our favorites places to relax prior to an event. OVERALL VALUE: Good, but it is Palm Springs, outdoors, great locations, classy.. no, not inexpensive but well worth it. TIP: I'd say be nice, be patient, and you will get a table. Don't be an angry rude touron, we don't need that vibe and we see some of that in PS.. You can try for reservations, not sure if they take off season.

I loved that there are different dining rooms, each with its own art and design. Every space feels unique, and walking through the restaurant is an experience on its own. For brunch, I ordered the chilaquiles, and the Negra Modelo ranchera salsa was delicious and very unique. The flavors really stood out, and I loved the addition of the Spanish chorizo Bilbao. My wife ordered the poblano chile relleno, and everything on the plate was delicious. The refried pinto beans were especially good, and the corn pudding was amazing--like a little piece of corn tamal! Then came the carrot cake sandwich... and honestly, it looked like they saved the best for last. This might be the best carrot cake we have ever tried! The layers of cream cheese semifreddo, carrot ribbon cream, candied pecans, orange crisps, and salted caramel were absolutely incredible. I would honestly come back to Eight4Nine just for the carrot cake. Everything we had was delicious, but the dessert stole the show without a doubt. A big thank you to Sandy, our waitress, for the great recommendations and wonderful service. We loved celebrating our anniversary here and definitely want to come back!

I went to Bar Cecil to celebrate a double birthday with my bestie last night. First off, you have…read moreto make reservations two weeks in advance online-- not more, not less. They don't pick up the phone at all, so don't bother calling. They do, however, take walk-ins if you're willing to wait. All part of the optics and over hype. We brought our own bottle of Veuve and they were great about putting it on ice for us and opened it for us so we could sip while we waited for a table. All excellent, but it came at a $49 corkage fee before tip! Geez! When we were seated, the host made a big deal about our birthdays gave us BOTH handwritten birthday cards and told the waiter to take good care of us because we were celebrating a double birthday and seated us at a center spot at the bar, which we loved! A hit! Overall, the service and ALL the staff were great, but to be honest. some of the food was hit and miss. The menu is somewhat underwhelming. They seem to be mostly known for their deviled eggs. Okay, I love a deviled egg, but so what? Every time I'd ask anyone about Bar Cecil, they'd say, "Well. their deviled eggs are good." We should have known then, but we wanted to see for ourselves what the hype was about. It's French because they serve, escargot, steak frites, and caviar service, but it's really a bunch of different food items that aren't really cohesive -- deviled eggs with dates and sage, Thai curry muscles, smoke pork chop, cacio e pepe. WTF? The best things we had were the oysters, grilled artichokes and the Bernaise sauce on the steak frites was spot on, but the steak itself was chewy and difficult to cut with a steak knife -- a miss that could have been a hit. Not worth the price point. We also ordered the Thai curry muscles, which were really good until the last six muscles, which were sandy and gritty. Again another miss, that could have been a hit. The waiter did take them off the bill, but then at the very end of our "double birthday celebration," the waiter asked, "Are you ready for desert?" My friend responded, "Well, I'm pretty full. Is it complimentary?" And he responded, "It is, but I didn't want to ruin the surprise." So we both ordered desert -- I ordered a "special" desert that wasn't on the menu. A cookie ice cream thing and she ordered the pavlova. Mine was okay. She loved hers. Again it could have been a massive hit-- instead it was a massive miss! We were charged $27 for our two "complimentary" deserts before tax and tip! Oh well, we didn't haggle and paid our bill, but only tipped 20%. We would have tipped an extra $50-$100 because it was our birthdays and we would have tipped all the comped amounts to the wait staff, figuring we would have paid those costs plus tax and tip on top of that. Too bad. Overall, I wouldn't wait in long lines any time soon for this experience. It's was just a meh for us.

One of the best dining experiences we've had in Palm Springs!…read more Bar Cecil completely exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. Everything about the evening felt thoughtful, sophisticated, and incredibly well done -- from the food and cocktails to the service and overall atmosphere. We started with the fresh bread with date butter, which was absolutely delicious and the perfect way to begin the meal. For our main courses, we ordered the roasted chicken and the ratatouille, and both were outstanding. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. And then came dessert... absolutely incredible. We tried the passion fruit pavlova, lemon tart with pistachios, and warm cookies, and honestly, it was hard to choose a favorite. Every dessert was beautifully done and a perfect ending to an amazing meal. The craft cocktails deserve a special mention as well. Every cocktail we tried was delicious and so thoughtfully created. You could tell there was a lot of creativity and care put into the flavors and combinations. Nothing felt ordinary or like an afterthought. This is one of those restaurants where every detail feels intentional, and the entire experience comes together beautifully. We absolutely loved our visit and will 100% be back the next time we're in Palm Springs. If you're visiting Palm Springs, Bar Cecil absolutely belongs on your list. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for incredible food, creative cocktails, and a truly special dining experience. We can't wait to go back!

I've been getting a little fed up with relying on Google recommendations lately. You'll see places with 5,000+ reviews and almost five stars, then you actually go there and the food is a huge disappointment. FARM was one of those places where the food actually lived up to the reviews and the hype. I ordered the Spanish Migas with a side of potatoes and a small French press. The Migas were perfectly cooked, and the spice level was just right. You could taste each ingredient separately, and the salsa was really good too. The potatoes were probably one of my favorite parts--crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The coffee was great as well. My server, Carol R., was very attentive and kept checking on me throughout the meal. She even double-checked the name and receipt, which I appreciated because she was clearly paying attention to the details and making sure everything was correct. The atmosphere is really nice too. It actually feels like you're sitting on a farm, which makes the whole brunch experience feel special. And considering the portion size, quality of the food, and how popular this place is, I thought the price was very reasonable. This place actually met my expectations, which has been rare lately. If you're in Palm Springs and looking for a good brunch spot, I'd definitely recommend FARM. I just wish I had found this place sooner!

Had to get the flight! Four frozen minis. Don't remember the other two, but they were really good. Since the piña colada was already in the flight, I had to order the key lime pie. Probably against the law if I didn't. Only miss: the frozen Mai Tai. Weird, I know -- I love Mai Tais. I'm a purist though, and that version was not a hit. The key lime pie was super dope, as expected. Bartenders were helpful and fast. Coming back for the piña colada and the live music!

QUICK TAKE Get: Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos, Grilled Chicken & Mango Salad, flatbread, burger, Key Lime Pie Skip: Coconut Shrimp Know: Ask for salad dressing on the side. They are very generous with it. This turned out to be a great casual lunch in Palm Springs. The setting is relaxed, the menu is easy to share, and there were several things I would happily order again. Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos: Probably my favorite. The mahi comes with tomato relish, chipotle aioli, island slaw, lime sour cream, fire-roasted salsa and chips. Lots of flavor without losing the fish underneath. Grilled Chicken & Mango Salad: Really good combination of grilled chicken, baby greens, feta, toasted almonds and macadamia nuts, pepitas, dried blueberries and tomatoes with a lemon basil vinaigrette. My only advice is to get the dressing on the side. They use a lot of it. Flatbread: Another solid choice for the table. Easy to share and one of those dishes that disappeared pretty quickly. All-American Burger: Simple and very good. American cheese, pickles, Tommy Spread, lettuce, tomato and onion. Nothing fancy, just well done. Key Lime Pie: Definitely save room. Tart, creamy and one of the better endings to the meal. Coconut Shrimp: The only thing I would skip. The shrimp itself was fine, but between the coconut coating and papaya-mango chutney, it was much too sweet for me. Overall, we were impressed. This is not quite the same dining experience or menu you get at a regular Tommy Bahama Restaurant, but for a casual meal in downtown Palm Springs, it worked really well. The mahi tacos and chicken mango salad are the two things I'd order first.
