The food was sooooooooo amazing like literally a 100 out of 100. I had the brown stew snapper and I also had the plantain spring rolls which was definitely a hit. The Chef was amazing and the customer service was great. He shared that the restaurant is actually gonna be expanding in September so I'll definitely be back!! read more

Did a quick search beacause I wanted to have dinner with family and this came up for "best" Jamaican food . I don't know how this place got such high ratings . Best was a stretch fo sure ... let's get ito it . Tiny spot . Looks way bigger in the picture but no biggie . We came in sat down and waited to be served . There isn't much staff so there was a long wait . The older lady had a nasty attitude like she didn't want us there . We had shrimp pasta ( spicy and watery ), salmon ( my sister said it was decent but not good ) , jerk steak( tough meat ), chicken wings ( best on the table perfection) . Plantain spring rolls ( waste of money we all hated them and we like plantain) , Ackee and salt fish ( Ackee with a side of salt fish but good flavor) oxtail pasta ( they gave me literally 2 oxtails with sauce for 38 dollars ! Oxtail was good but 2 is crazy ) Sorrel wasn't that great but I'm also used to a richer flavor . Everything looked pretty but I'm more of a give me good taste girl ! In all for the price point , travel time and wait this spot was a waste of time and I wouldn't return . People in the area seem too like it but being exposed to better has me spoiled I guess :/ . It's a no for me but you may like it . Happy eating read more

Absolutely Not. Will never go back!!!!! Ordered smallest size of curry goat with rice and peas, and fried chicken. Total spent was $19.49 for this order. Rice and peas had no taste of coconut milk. Curry Goat was pure mush. The biggest pieces were the bones, was pure salt. If you have high blood pressure DO NOT EAT THIS!!!! Container was $14.99 Ordered 1 piece of Fried chicken but was given 2 due to the size and it was salty as well. Price was $2.99 This was one of the worst jamaican plates I've tasted. I really would not have minded paying $19.49 if the food was good but when it's bad, no sah. read more

I discovered this place in an article about female-owned restaurants, so my wife and I decided to try it. The food was very good. We had the Pepper Shrimp (head on), which I had only encountered in New Orleans - quite good. My main dish was an escovitched Snapper which was perfectly prepared, crispy skin and moist inside, with a side of cabbage. All very good. It should be noted this place is SMALL, really Caribbean sized, maybe room for 12-16 diners, and since it's not a diner service is more human speed than Automat speed. I'll be going back. read more

Perfection every time. Our monthly visit to this Mount Vernon treasure is a must. Cozy, with a charming owner/hostess, who always makes us feel welcome. The food is delightful, well prepared and presented. Uber or in person treat yourself! read more

Great West Indian food. Owner was super friendly and offered attendance to patty making classes. Will definitely go back.

The food is Horribleeeeeee....all salt. I gave this place 3 chances 3! and each time was horrible. I have gotten oxtail curry combo(satly) this the steak( bland and its steak strips) and fried chicken and pasta. SALTYYY......LIKE it's really bad and overpriced. I tried 3 times I'm out. They try honestly and the owner and waitress are nice but the food is not giving authentic jamaican at all. read more

Always enjoy the food and vibes in the restaurant. Never had a bad experience and consider it a local gem.

I was in the mood for some oxtail, since it was late I did not want to drive to the Bronx (Gold Star Jamaican restaurant) to my usual spot for jamrock food, I decided to give this place a shot...I have always wanted to support local businesses but " mi tellin yu" way overpriced, $28 for dry and salty oxtail and the rice was so "blah". The price really hurts because the food was bad. I've been wanting to give this place a go, and now I could say I tried just did not work, I won't go back. read more

I love to support small businesses especially black owned. I was hoping to give this place a great review however I have to be honest. My first impression started when I was placing my order and was told the price on the menu was not correct. The entrée was actually $10 more than what the menu stated. Why hand out a menu if the prices have changed that much. When I received my entrée and I did not get the side dish as stated on the menu and when I asked for it; it was an extra charge on my bill. The food ok...oxtails were a little salty. The owner who took our order was nice however the chef who part owner was not welcoming not only to us but others coming in for takeout. I hope this review will be taken as a learning opportunity for them to improve service and quality. read more

Food overpriced and not that great. Place is very small for eating in. When I went it was empty but still seemed very small.

I love the jerk chicken and mojito here. Also great customer service . Definitely worth checking out .

Small but Cozy This weekend we celebrated my birthday and patronize an establishment called "Jungle Restaurant" in the Fleetwood area of Mount Vernon NY. It is very small eat in restaurant, maybe at full capacity there is seating for 16 adults tops. They also accommodate take out orders in the same space. We ENJOYED many dishes from plantain egg rolls and sweet chili wings as our appetizers to curry goat, salmon, Jerk chicken etc. Plus, wonderful commercial and house beverages. The presentation was enticing. Our server, Scarlet, was attentive to our orders and pleasantly attended to our needs and wants. She made us feel truly welcomed from when we entered and throughout our dining experience. I would recommend this establishment for the tasty meals that were stated in this review, but one of their high end meals, the Escovitch Snapper, was not as pleasing. This was a cook to order meal (meal is cooked fresh when you order rather than sitting under a heated lamp). I found the fish to be petrified (over cooked and tough). I spoke to the chef but the response was that it's a "Yellow Tail Snapper". I tried and others in my party tried to eat it but it wasn't palatable. Since I spoke to the chef directly and nothing was adjusted we had to assume that this is not the speciality for this establishment. Again, all else was very nice; not a log wait, good music, accommodating server, refreshing drinks were all beautiful, it was just the one fish meal that was personally displeasing. read more

The food was phenomenal! Well seasoned. Sweet chili salmon was perfectly cooked, jerk chicken and pasta was yummy as well...very filling and good sized servings. Plantain spring rolls were delish! I can't wait to go back The service was awesome and the staff was very friendly. Overall, I give this restaurant a thumbs up and would recommend to anyone looking for a cozy date night location with delicious food. read more

I came here about a month or so ago but haven't had a chance to post my review so here goes. I was out on a date and decided to support a local restaurant. Jungle Restaurant was my choice for the night. I decided to get the pic two dinner, which came with curry goat, oxtails with rice and peas and cabbage on the side. I also decided to get their wrong punch. The presentation of the meal was fantastic. The food was well seasoned, fresh, and full of flavor. Even the rum punch was very refreshing and it definitely had some kick to it. They were playing nice music in the background which made the night even more relaxing and enjoyable. The staff was very helpful with any questions or suggestions about what to get off of the menu. I have no complaints about my experience here, the only thing I can say is that you have to remember it's cash only which is not a big deal because the chase bank is literally 200 feet away but other than that my experience here was top-notch and I would not hesitate to come back. read more

I've been dying to try this place. Ackee and Saltfish ... was delish. Not over seasoned ... Saltfish coupled well with the vegetables, pièce de résistance Two patties. Filling was ground a lil too fine for me but it was tasty and perfectly spiced ... for the common folk. I added a bit of zing but that is smart ... make it tasty for erybody! Rasta pasta ... red sauce had a zing to it. Good eating. I don't go to JA spot for pasta but it was pretty good. I'll return for sure. read more

Lovely and welcoming staff. Everything we ordered was delicious. Would happily eat here again!

Good service but very salty food. Brought the oxtail and curry goat combo $42. Wait what? I could not eat it too salty. The entire meal was tossed out. I cannot risk raising my blood pressure Did they even taste the food? Never again. read more

After a long day at work I had no desire to prepare a meal. I've ordered from this place before and my meal was okay. I ordered via GrubHub: jerk salmon with pasta. Picked my ordered up and went home. Both salmon and pasta were overdone AND the salmon wasn't jerk like I specified, it was very sweet (akin to sweet chili salmon). It was a profound waste of $26. If I pay for something it should at least be worth the price AND what I asked for. Next time I'll buy Chinese food. read more

I was in the mood for some Rasta pasta and oxtails. In this restaurant calls theirs Jungle pasta. I was a little hesitant to pay $26 for it but man the flavors HIT! First of all let's talk about how cute this hidden gem is ! I will definitely be coming here with fiancé to wine and dine. Im also happy to say that the hospitality is much appreciated. The lady that works there is so kind and helpful. Now the dish may not seem like much oxtails (which was my initial thought) but it's actually truly filling. Oxtails fall off the bones and the damn sauce on that pasta ugh!! I pray this is a consistent thing. Shout out to the chef in the back! read more

So, I decided to pop in this restaurant today and quite honestly.......I was disappointed by both the taste of the food and proportions. I decided to have breakfast: a taste (literally) of ackee and saltfish and callaloo. Well I will say that I asked for a little bit of both and a fried dumpling in a small container. Which he did do but stated that it comes with 3 fried dumplings and 2 plaintains. I said okay. The food was delicious! I enjoyed the spicy flavor provided in the dishes. There wasn't much saltfish in the meal. Because I asked for a little spoonful. That cost me $14.99. Next, I ordered an Oxtail meal. It came with very little meat alongside white rice with goon goon peas and a salad. No love in the rice at all. No coconut milk no where. All we could taste was white rice and salt. The oxtails were alright. Definitely nothing to write home about. The curry goat was yummy. The meat was cooked down to perfection. But the serving size for a large was very disappointing. The pieces of meat were very small and few enough to count. This dish too was served with the same rice and salad covering half of the tin. I'm happy to support a black owned business in this area but I won't be back. Three meals $69......you've got to be kidding me. Definitely not worth the money. Pick up take out at another Jamaican restaurant. read more

The food here is amazing. Their veggie options are so good and the stir fry jerk tofu plate is THE BEST.

Everything from the ambiance to the service was outstanding. And the cuisine was extremely exquisite!

ZEROOOOO STARS !!!!!!! -- HORRIBLE SERVICE. -- BUGS IN FOOD. -- FALSE ADVERTISING. -- MARKETING TRICKS & GIMMICKS. -- LONG WAIT WHEN EMPTY. -- NASTY ATTITUDE. ** I am not the type to leave a review, but I am, please let that speak volumes ** The first time I ordered for a catering event. I spent $800 for half the food to be thrown out due to bugs in the food. After bringing this up to management, nothing was done to right this wrong. On Black Tuesday (Shout out all my black businesses!), I decided to give them a second shot, introduce myself, and see if the service and food would be better... I wish I didn't. For a restaurant that only has 5 tables to have BAD service, is EMBARRASSING. My friends and I placed our orders, drinks included. After 20 minutes, the drinks finally came out. . . After finishing it, and waiting for the sever to come back around, I ordered a second drink & finished it before the food came out. 75 minutes into the night, our food comes out. Cold because they "were waiting for cabbage." Get this-- THE CABBAGE WASNT EVEN ON THE PLATE! The cabbage came out 20 minutes later like it was some type of desert, no thank you. At this point, get me the check, I'M LEAVING. The check comes and they say, "it's cash only." After sitting down for 90 minutes, now I'm hit with this?!? What horrible service. Nowhere from the entrance can you see a sign that says, cash only. They know this & they purposely don't post it. Do you think they have an ATM inside?-- nope. They have a board with every single one of their specials, but nothing saying cash only. News flash; I didn't cater an $800 event with cash, but now there's no exceptions. After getting nothing but an attitude, one of my friends went to the ATM, paid the meal, all while the server is screaming, "we don't need your business!" My business was supporting black owned businesses, but apparently they don't need us. W O W. I'm so appalled that someone can be so rude, nasty, and discourteous to someone trying to support them. This isn't a business, it is a circus full of clowns. ***** TRUST ME ***** Go to Maggie's Spillane's down the block. Better prices, actual service, faster food, better environment. Don't thank me for my patronage. Don't tell me you'll continue to work on excellence. Just stop wronging my black and brown brothers and sisters, with your deception & lies, people who are trying to support you. We get enough of that from everyone else. read more

We enjoyed a plethora of dishes. The plantain spring rolls were crispy and delicious. The food presentation was delightful. The curried shrimp, the jerk steak, and the jerk chicken pasta were delectable! The service could have been better except it was Easter Sunday. However, that it is a common complaint that the owner needs to take into careful consideration. Good food and a pleasant ambiance! read more

I hate giving this place 5 stars because I'm selfish and want to keep Jungle my little secret. I absolutely loved the food and service here. South side cuisine in a Fleetwood setting. They've got a cozy dining area that's very classy. I ordered some pasta cajun style and jerk chicken. The food was bursting with ethnic flavors. The food was very mediocre. Although I went an hour before closing, there's no reason I should have gotten cold plantain. In addition, man gave me 2 pieces of actual chicken meat and rest was chicken back bone. Must of thought he was feeding yard dog. Brought it back and asked for more actual chicken meat and they willingly gave it to me though. Also place is very clean and presentable. read more

Jungle is a daily new restaurant but they have earned a faithful customer. The food is fresh and flavorful. I'm a huge fan of their curry chicken patties.
