Had another great time here, I can't stop bragging about Junction 421. If you are in the Monkey Junction section of Wilmington, stop in. They have specials each night of the week, pub style atmosphere, and large portions. This visit, we are out with friends, so no photos this time. However, for apps, my fav are the Brussels sprouts and we tried the potato skins. I gave the Carolina burger a try and it was huge. Others had the grilled salmon with veggies, steak sandwich, and the fettuccine Alfredo. We all took our leftover food to go. The portions are huge, service is great, and the prices are pretty fair for the size of the meals. I would like to try a milkshake next visit. Or a dessert. Either way, you will leave very full!

My fiancé and I were running errands and decided to come in for a quick meal one evening. We looooove the fresh rolls with the strawberry butter (seriously, it's amazing, get lots of it!) and the fried pimento cheese balls. We were so busy eating these, I missed pictures of our main meals- the 421 chicken entree and the smashburger. Each time we come here, the food is always tasty with good sized portions. We never have to wait to get a table, but the restaurant is at least 75% full so definitely bustling.

Brought my grandkids here for dinner. Granddaughter chose off the children's menu: pizza, it was huge! Grandson picked a double bacon burger and fries: ate it all! I had the steak salad. It was very good. We were given a free sample of the fried palmetto cheese! Yum yum! We ended up ordering chicken wings also as the kids were hungry. The big hit was the shark tank drink for the kids. Very cute, it's enormous and the kids took some we home. A bit on the pricey side, but we did get an appetizer and the shark tank which drive up the $$$z. I'd go again,

"Welcome Home" is how you're greeted at this laid back eatery. The staff was warm and took good care of us. The coconut shrimp was yummy and the fried pimento cheese balls was a tasty treat. The grouper Oscar special was great and my husband enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Portions were generous!

Nice family restaurant, the owners walks around and makes sure you are happy with your food and a nice chat. We had burgers which were excellent. I'm pretty much a burger snob and was very happy. And they give you pimento bites which were also yummy. We will return

This is such a delicious, wonderful restaurant. I love how after all of these years the chef still Comes out and greets every table. We had a party of 3 tonight. We started with crab dip which was wonderful! Them we each had a side Salad and the portions were huge. All of the dressings are made in house. I had the sirloin and it want the best but I think that's cause I am More of a filet person. Y friend loves her shrimp and grits and my other friend got a shrimp and crab pasta meal and y looked amazing! I had a delicious extra dirty martini too!

Attended for Easter Sunday special brunch. Here is my review: Food: very good! Fresh and tasty! Special holiday menu have great options and everything was fresh that we ordered. We were not disappointed with selecting this restaurant for our Easter plans. Location: great location off south college. Large lots attached so parking is plentiful. Easy on and off the main road and you can also access the same lot from Carolina beach road at the far east section. Great bar with sports in one area. Seating for restaurant style in another. Clean restrooms. Seating in bar area and around it too. But there is also interior and outdoor patio options. Booths available for groups or large table set up. Service: top notch! Very attentive very personable very helpful. Drinks never went empty. Food delivery to table was spaced properly. Loved the staff and the owner even came by to wish us well for the holiday and for the meal. Great vibes. Attire/vibe: today was a mix of outfit types for Easter but in general I heard it can be business casual or casual. It's a popular spot and liked, clearly, it was super busy! But things moved very organized for seating.

    American Burger and fries

We felt very forgotten by our server Mya. Mashed potatoes and Sirloin were out when we got there. 3 out of the 5 meals were good. The shrimp and grits was the biggest let down. There was more broth than grits and far too many mushrooms. Burger was fine and pizza was good.

    Get the salmon!!!
    Cassandra B.

This is one of our favorite local spots for dinner. You can't go wrong with anything you order but I love the salmon. The fettuccine, pasta, burger, chicken, and everything else I've tried has been amazing. There's just something about the sauce on the salmon! It's a very cute place with amazing service, the owner is very hands on and comes by the table almost every visit. Such a great place to have close to home!

We had a good dinner here and the staff were very nice. I made a reservation to eat here at 5:00 p.m. on a Thursday, but there were still a few tables available. Not sure if it was because of my birthday, but we were seated at the comfortable half moon blue velvet booth. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese and my partner had the Carolina burger. They gave a dessert of my choice on the house for my birthday. It's not specified on the menu that thinly sliced fries come with the burger and sandwich dishes. The bread was toasted nicely for the grilled cheese sandwich and the fries were crispy. The short rib meat was tender, but a little dry. And depending on your preferences, I can see some people might prefer more cheese in the sandwich. My partner thought the Carolina Burger was decent, although he said the bacon was a little burnt and there was no ranch in the burger, as specified on the menu. He also requested the meat to be medium, but it was more of a medium rare. They had no problem taking it back to be cooked a little bit more, which was better, and they added some extra fries. We also ordered a salad to come with the burger for an additional $4. It was enough to share for two people as a side salad. The salad was fresh, with sliced cucumbers, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced red onions, and fresh shredded cheddar cheese. I chose the apple pie for my birthday dessert. It was good, especially with the vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream. The prices for the food are a little more pricey so if you're willing to spend a little extra more, this place might be worth a visit if you're looking for somewhere new to try.

The whole experience was perfect. We had to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready. It was such a minimal wait that I didn't think anything of it. Our waitress came over to our table, apologized, and said they'd be sending out their little gem salad and brussel sprouts. Both appetizers were plenty for four of us. The salad was romaine lettuce with fish roe and had a umami style to it that I really enjoyed. The Brussels were exceptional. I'm a big fan normally and these were by far some of the best I've had. For cocktails I tried the man of war and the ghost town which was complex and amazing. For dinner I tried the fish of the day, which were scallops from Maine with ancient grains and a small green salad. The scallops were rich tasting and succulent. My husband had the burger and said it was really good. The whole dining experience was exceptional. The servers were attentive yet knew how to pace our experience. We never felt rushed or imposed upon or forgotten. With all the restaurant choices in Wilmington, Dram Yard rises to the top.

It was great weather this night, so we opted for an outside table that was in total shade. Very comfortable. Our server came by for drink orders. We had no appetizers this visit and went right into entrees. We tried the Port City Burger, the Gnocchi with chicken, cilantro lime shrimp quesadillas and the salmon tacos. Everything was delicious. The only complaint I would have is that the Salmon Tacos was a bit small. The dish is two small tacos with a side of tortilla chips. There is no salsa, no pico de gallo, no slaw. I was actually sorry that I didn't get an appetizer. I was still a little hungry after I finished. We didn't want any of the dessert offered this time. Again, everything was great. Service, food, atmosphere, outside patio. Just my dish was a little less in size. I will keep that in mind next time we visit. I'm not sure something like this would be changed on the menu, but I still wanted to voice my opinion. Still a great place with a great menu and service. If the weather is good, opt for the patio. It is really nice sitting out there.

I'm the St. Louis visitor in the group, here to be educated on what Southern cooking is supposed to taste like. The verdict by the end of the night was mixed. The space itself is cute and clean, with an industrial-chic, open feel inside, but it gets very loud once it fills up, like hard to hear your side neighbor loud. We lucked into a set of club chairs in a corner away from the main dining area, which knocked the noise down enough that we could hear each other. Without that, I'm honestly not sure we would have stayed. The host didn't blink at seating us over there, and the wait staff throughout the night was friendly. Drinks were fine across the table. My grilled peach old fashioned was the only one I tried, and I was hoping for a sharper, smokier profile, what I got leaned peachy without much else going on. The clams my friend ordered had a little grit in them, so not perfectly cleaned, but the flavor was there. The six-hour baby back ribs was a great start, great sauce, not smothered, fall-off-the-bone tender, the kind of thing I'd come back for. I didn't get a photo because we tore into them too fast, which tells you most of what you need to know. After that, things got uneven. The pork empanadas are listed with an ancho chili jam, but no jam or sauce came with ours. The pastry was crisp and tasty, but the pork inside was under-seasoned, and we left a whole empanada on the plate. The crab cakes was the bigger letdown, my friend, who grew up in Maryland and knows what a crab cake should be, said hers tasted more like a flat, minced patty (possibly with fish filler) than actual crab. She didn't finish it. My gumbo ya-ya had chicken, shrimp, and andouille, but the sauce was thin and tomato-forward where I was hoping for, and a richer sauce. Spice was fine; the whole thing just landed middle-of-the-road. Desserts split the difference. The key lime crème brûlée was genuinely excellent, I'd order it again on its own. The North Carolina blueberry bread pudding was beautifully plated but a little dry in execution for use. We left half of it. One thing worth flagging: the restaurant closes at 8:30, and at 8:30 sharp, with us still finishing dessert, the music came on with the unmistakable "we're closed" energy, even though we'd arrived at 7 and no one else was wandering in late. It made the end of the meal feel rushed in a way that didn't match the otherwise warm service. 3.4 starts out of 5. To be fair: we didn't leave feeling the food was bad, just that we'd ordered into the weaker half of the menu. Our server highly recommended the skillet mac and cheese and the quesadillas, and the skillet cornbread looked great online - we just didn't pull the triggers. We have generous optimism a version of this meal that goes much better than ours did, and on a second visit I'd lean into those recommendations. For now, though, with friends in town and a list of places I haven't tried yet, I probably won't be steering people here for your one night in Wilmington. I'd come back to give it a fairer second shot if I lived here.

After living in the northeast my whole life, we frequently vacationed in Maine. We moved to NC several years ago, and haven't been back there yet. How do we get some good lobster rolls? We found Maine Lobster Roll Company in Wilmington. This place is 100% the real deal. So, we tried two sizes of lobster rolls. Each have same bun, but different amount of lobster on them. I got a half portion and my hubs got a whole portion. It is a very good amount of lobster on them. I don't think I could have finished a whole portion. Looked massive to me. But, the preparation is fantastic. I had the Mainah and hubs had the Rockland. It came with a side of Cole slaw. The Mainah is cold lobster with just a light coating of mayo. The Rockland has the celery and onion with the same light coating of mayo. He had a small cup of clam chowder as well. Just amazing. One other person was with us and tried the non lobster grilled cheese. They have Maine made Whoopie pies in a refrigerator that you can choose different flavors. We picked out 2 to share later. Reservations are recommended since the dining room is cozy and they might not be able to accommodate you without one. The place is so cute inside, very cozy with fresh roses on every table. We were seated toward the back against the wall, which is great. This table had comfortable high back chairs that seemed just for the tables for 2. Our server came by and introduced herself and said warm bread was coming. We had filled water glasses and took our order for additional drinks. We had a chance to look over the menu. The menu is small, but has a nice variety of favorites that you will find it easy to choose. I asked if there were any specials, but not on Saturday night. Friday night has a short rib special you could call ahead and reserve. That is a nice tip, since she mentioned they may run out. We decided to start with the tomato basil soup and a Caesar salad. Beautiful presentation on the soup and an amazing flavor. So delicious. The salad is very large and looked great. They brought out a second basket of bread with delicious herb butter. I really had to stop eating the bread! For entrees, we went with the goat cheese crusted grouper, with had beautiful puréed potatoes and squash and zucchini. I wasn't sure if I would like goat cheese with grouper, but it was a fantastic pairing. The scallops were large and crispy on the outside on top of a spinach risotto. So rich and tasty. The grouper paired well with a Pinot Grigio. The server went over the dessert choices and there were several to choose from. We decided on a chocolate toffee mousse cake. So incredibly rich and delicious. If you love chocolate, get this cake. My hubs and I shared one slice and it was enough after a filling dinner. You walk into Fish Bites hoping it's still the same place you've trusted over the years--and I'll…read moresay it right up front: it is. Maybe even a touch better. The Food We went straight for what matters. * Chilean Sea Bass -- cooked right, flaky, moist, and seasoned without trying to show off. That's how it's supposed to be done. No nonsense, just good fish handled properly. * Fish Bites (house specialty) -- lightly battered, crispy without being greasy, and paired with both Thai chili and tartar sauces. That combo works. You don't fix what isn't broken, and thankfully they didn't. * Ponzu Tuna Tacos -- these were the standout. Fresh, flavorful, balanced. The ponzu brings just enough bite without overpowering the tuna. If you're going there and skip these, that's on you. Sides held their own--fresh vegetables with a good sauté, and coleslaw that didn't taste like it came out of a tub somewhere in the back. Service Our server, Kali (K-A-L-I), did things the old-school way--attentive without hovering, friendly without being fake. That's getting rare these days, and it's worth mentioning. Value Two people, solid seafood, no corners cut: $67.15 total. In today's world? That's not just fair--that's impressive. Final Take New ownership can sometimes mean a place loses its identity. That didn't happen here. Fish Bites still delivers what made it a favorite--fresh seafood, straightforward preparation, and consistency. If anything, they've tightened things up just enough to notice

But not the best view with the gas station. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We started with the Oyster Bombs, which were cheesy and delicious. I also got the clam chowder which was hearty and very satisfying. For my main meal, I had the stuffed flounder. It was rich and packed with flavor. I picked the mixed veggies and garlic mashed potatoes as my sides. I ended up taking half home because I was so full! Plus, we got a few slices of cake to share at the office in the afternoon. Everyone enjoyed our meal. I'll definitely be back.

There was a nice amount of menu options and drinks . There was plenty of dining room seating with a large bar area as well. The restaurant gives off very much coastal vibes! Lol, I ordered a crab cake and my son ordered the Wellington sub (I probaly got the name wrong). My crab cake sandwich was okay, but I must mention that it was big in size. My son loved the Wellington sub , the fries with the gravy sauce was amazing. Our server was amazing , service was awesome. The Restaurant itself was tidy and well kept and good times were awesome. The restaurant cuts right on the Wilmington Riverwalk and outside seating is available.

We were seated promptly by our wonderful server, Taylor (I hope I'm getting her name right!). We got a round of amazing espresso martinis along with crab dip and a jumbo Bavarian pretzel to start. I get a big pretzel everywhere I go, and this one definitely didn't disappoint. It came with a lovely cheese sauce and a honey mustard-like sauce. We also loved the crab dip. Taylor quickly resolved any issues we had and got us everything we needed. I got the penne alla vodka with shrimp, and it was very good! Everyone who came with me was very happy with their meals as well. My partner got the prime rib dip and loved it. Overall, I had a blast and would definitely recommend dining here.
