I don't know where to start. Visiting from PA, stumbled upon this place, and THANK GOD! Everything about this too has been fantastic. Service: A++, drinks: A++, Food: A+++. We had the fish and chips and bacon wrapped pork loin and 2 old fashioneds. Let me start on the old fashioned. To my old fashion drinkers that are disappointed at a restaurant when they serve you an old fashioned with crushed ice... 1 large square cube! Very well done. They also have about 30 Bourbons too. Ok to the food. Ever since I was in Europe 20+ years ago, I search for good English fish and chips. Well hot damn, found it! Batter fried to perfection, a couple of chips, which were crunchy and nicely seasoned. Add Malt vinegar and nicely balanced coleslaw. The other meal was the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. That was also very good. Very tasty, and the cranberry port sauce was flavorful but not overpowering. Just all around great experience and meal. Dinner at Junction 421 tonight for a birthday dinner for my friend. Some great hits, but also a miss. The Calamari Stephania was a hit. The batter was so light and the calamari perfectly cooked. Not rubbery at all. Perfection. The "miss" was the Shrimp and Crab Marinello. On the pricey side for mostly angel hair pasta, a little bit of spinach, a little bit of mushrooms; 4 shrimp, and the crab was... was it crab??? It tasted like it was canned mushed crab. Not lump or even backfin. Very disappointing says two of us from Maryland. We know crab! The other dishes were very good (shrimp and grits and the short rib grilled cheese). For a birthday dessert, a baked fruit flatbread, which was very tasty. We were treated to fried pimento cheese balls, 4, as it was our first time there as a starter. Another plus: the owner was right inside and greeted us (and other guests) and was very friendly. Our waitress was friendly too but waaaaaay too talkative. Now this will definitely be a revisit restaurant the next time I'm in town, because my entire experience this past weekend was excellent. We decided to stop in to the restaurant for brunch because as we drove by we noticed that their parking lot was very crowded. Upon entering I was greeted by a friendly and courteous staff. The restaurant and the staff was enforcing the COVID-19 pandemic precautions. We decided to grab a table in the bar area, because it was less crowded with customers. But I could also tell that this restaurant was operating on limited capacity and keeping guests at a minimum of 6 feet from other guess. The food was seasoned very well and both my spouse and I truly enjoyed everything we ordered. The drinks we ordered was also very good and not watered down by no means. The customer service was very good and our waitress was very attentive and very friendly. I would visit them again and will recommend them for friends and family members who want a great dinning choice while in the Wilmington, NC area!!!! read more

We go to Junction 421 for date night occasionally. We have NEVER been disappointed in any way. This place is a major win. The food is phenomenal, the staff are super friendly and helpful, the ambiance is perfect. I couldn't suggest this place enough. I hear they have a great brunch, we are excited to try it out one day. Trying to find a decent seafood dinner restaurant at the last minute at the last minute during peak season is not for the faint of heart. We called and stopped at three other places that rated well with no luck. Junction 421 was our backup plan and we were not disappointed. My wife had the fish in parchment with risotto. It's a Tuesday special and comes stuffed with scallops and shrimp. She loved it. My mother ordered a lovely angel hair pasta with crab and shrimp. She devoured it. Dad ordered the fish and chips and tore that up. I had the pork chops wrapped in bacon and left a clean plate. My son is on the spectrum so he usually just watches us eat- but he put away half of his sisters pizza. I cannot describe how finicky he is about food- but this pie passed muster. We were shocked. Hannah took care of us and was really comfortable answering questions about the menu and making recommendations. She accommodated my allergies and livened up the meal with her charming personality. Junction 421 has comfortable seating, warm light and a perfect temperature. You can't go wrong here. I'm sure the wait will be longer than we had because it's just too nice to stay slow. Worst restaurant I've EVER been to. I'm a foodie and I usually only write 5 star reviews if I can help it. This place is definitely and acception. The staff is nice, no complaints there & no worries I gave the waitress a 35% tip because it's not her fault at all. We were going to order an entree but they charge like $5 more on EVERYTHING than they should. I only say that because I've been to restaurants with identical food that tastes better and costs less. The Nachos: I get this might not be a common order buttttt I've been here once before 6 months ago and this will apply to a lot of people. I added chicken, because you're paying $12 for nachos that come with no meat. It's $5 to add the chicken!! That would be fine if THEY DIDNT BURN IT!!! THEY ALSO DONT EVEN CUT IT UP SO YOU HAVE TO CUT IT UP YOURSELF AND MAKE YOUR OWN NACHOS. Also there's basically no toppings on it and all the cheese has fell to the bottom leading me to believe they add the cheese first! In an empty bowl! Back to the chicken it seems like they never clean the grill because it has this weird burnt taste that would come from like a previously cooked chicken. I worked at Jersey mikes and have learned that first hand. Anyone getting Chicken Pasta anything BEWARE THE PREVIOUS SENTENCES! This dish gets a 0/10 will never order again. The Soup: Soup is dope honestly I strongly recommend it if you end up trying this place it's only $3 as a side. If you order it solo tho it's $10!!!! They won't tell you that! It's a scummy way to mislead people! Soup at $10 is 3/10 value matters. If money doesn't matter than Soup is 8/10. I remember eating the pasta and the cheese was okay and the noodles are noodles lol. Fettuccini Alfredo with chicken gets 6/10 pretty average. Overall try to avoid this place. Rosalies is INFINITELY BETTER for anything Italian and honestly Olive Garden tastes about the same and is cheaper. how is a local place worse than Olive Garden LOL read more

Decided to try this place while in town. The other two places we wanted to eat were closed. When you walk in it's a spruced Denny's. Asked for a burger medium well with no salad on top which means no vegetables everywhere I've been before and said that they knew what it meant not this waitress. We waited around 30 minutes for our food and no one was hardly there.Get my burger and the only thing removed was a piece of lettuce. Burger was very pink no thank you no cooked properly. Not waiting to cook another one. This places is just a pricey Denny's definitely won't return read more

The Mrs and I visited Junction 421 recently, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]we liked how big and spacious the restaurant is upon entering it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] John, who's very gracious, will seat you in one of their main dining rooms, and say hi to the regular customers as he's doing it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They gave us a very nice booth in the back since it was our first time here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server, Jim, was very polite, efficient,and professional. We started with the crab dip and fried pimento' cheese balls. Both were very good and we wanted more. We both had a side salad with blue cheese and were impressed with it as well. You can add a side salad and soup to your entree. My wife ordered the salmon entree and I had the Oscar grouper. Since we shared both, we agreed that the Salmon was better overall. I liked both sauces for the entrees and both were nicely cooked, but we thought my dish had the appearance of cafeteria food. It's also very overpriced for what you're getting. It did taste a lot better than it looked. For dessert we both split their chocolate cake which was rich and delicious. Prices are a little on the high side. The crab dip was $16 and the Oscar grouper was $36. We can finally say we've eaten here after waiting so long. Everything here is 5 stars. The customer service is phenomenal as the manager came to our table to ask how we were, in fact he did this with every table. The food was EXCELLENT. We enjoyed the fried pimento, bread and crab wontons. The steak had me drooling, wishing I could eat it all. This is a perfect place to dine with your family. We stopped here today for the first time and they were having Sunday brunch. We had Mary Catherine as our server and she was absolutely amazing! She's one of the best servers we've ever had at any restaurant! She answered all our questions and went above and beyond to be accommodating with other options other than what was on the breakfast menu as it was mostly egg options. They also offered a military discount which was nice. My only complaint is I feel like it was pricy. We managed to eat 2 days in a row here this week ....the food was sooo good the first time! The 421 Chicken , Pork Tenderloin were both hits at our table . The Bacon wrapped meatloaf special ( Monday) was awesome as well. Crab dip app was great. Staff was great both days. Hostess and servers. Just had the Sunday offering of Chicken Parmesan. This is the best I have had in Wilmington for years! Delicious and it looked like a food magazine photo. First let's start at the door. We were greeted as the Host held open the door with a warm greeting. We entered into a very comfortable setting with brick and dark wood. Great place for brunch! Such a cute interior and such a wonderful staff. Loved that the owner stopped by to say hi. You can't beat the Carolina Hot Brown - the mix of ham, bechamel, Swiss cheese on brioche toast with a runny egg...... wow. The short rib quesadillas were delicious as well but a little greasy on the outside but that's pretty typical for a quesadilla. I can't say enough about Jonathan and his staff, the food, and service. I had enjoyed the braised short ribs many years ago, and have asked Jonathan to add it back to the menu, since it's been gone for several years. When we were there in January, I told him I'd love to have the short ribs again, so he gave me his card and said to call when we planned on coming back. So, my boyfriend called a few days before Valentines Day and told him we were coming in. He made sure to have the braised short ribs ready for us when we arrived, and it was just as wonderful as I remembered it. This is an excellent restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is great. We have been three times and each time the owner gave us a warm greeting. The servers and staff are well trained. They have a very good,well planned menu as well as daily specials. They take a lot of care with the food and use fresh vegetables and well made sauces to add to the flavors. They also have a well stocked bar. The salmon dish is my favorite but, honestly, everything we have eaten has been very good. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. Three stars but only because I have only been there once. It was an unexpected valentines dinner that truly was delicious. I had the Italian beef, which I assume was a short rib, or chuck cut. Think pot roast, but soft and yummy over home made pappardelle noodles. My wife had the wedge salad with shrimp. She felt the shrimp were overly salty and was not a fan of the dressings she got. Now, they have a bourbon flight of 4 bourbons for $16. They are all top shelf and even some hard to find bottles. Highly recommend! Cheese cake dessert was one of the best I've had for awhile. Service was on pointe and attentive but not intrusive. Will definitely return to check out other options on the menu but it will be difficult not to revisit the Italian beef and pappardelle! read more

So I'd been wanting to try Junction 421 for a while and today brunch with my family was that opportunity. We were greeted warmly with an open door from the host and seated immediately. Our server, Becca, couldn't have been nicer and was able to offer suggestions for substitutions on the menu. $3 mimosas and Bloody Marys. Yes please. You could tell that the mix was just righf for the Mimosa. Not too boozy and not too much juice. We ordered chicken and a biscuit, Belgian waffle and the "American breakfast". All of the food came out hot and fresh. The crunch on the fried chicken was awesome. About midway through our meal we were greeted by the owner (I believe) and he made us feel like we were having brunch at their home.
