The Branch - Chipotle Fried Pork

Some of the best food in Tuolumne County and with a few tweaks, could be even better. My husband…read moreand I are originally from the Bay Area and have enjoyed great restaurants all over the world, so we're picky. Compared to other restaurants in the area, including the casinos, I'd give it a 5, but compared to what The Branch is now versus what it could be, I give it a four. To start, we were seated next to a couple with a cranky, noisy toddler. It's a small space to begin with, so there was no place to move to. Not the fault of the restaurant, but it distracted from our experience. The seasonal menu is balanced and not too ambitious or pretentious. To start we both chose the root salad. It featured a nice mix of fresh and pickled vegetables, but my salad had way too many pickled red onions (which I don't care for) that weighed down the greens. The beet swoosh was delicious and I wish there were more beets in the salad. For mains, my husband selected the rendered duck breast and I opted for the short rib shepherd's pie. The duck gets high marks for being tender and flavorful, however it was slightly overcooked and the skin wasn't crispy. I suspect that it had been cooked sous vide in advance and then finished in a skillet prior to serving. Nothing wrong with that, but it was just past medium. My shepherd's pie featured nice fresh carrots and peas, fork-tender short rib and a too-generous blanket of silky, fluffy mashed potatoes. The sauce, unfortunately, seemed under-seasoned and the mashed potato topping wasn't browned (just piped on top). The dessert (dulce de leche cheesecake) was a bit disappointing. The strong spice level of the crust eclipsed the flavor of the filling. A couple bites were enough for me, but my husband finished the piece. One really picky point: the water glasses are mason jars. In my experience, they develop small chips in the rim with constant use. Sure enough, my glass had a tiny ding in the rim that I had to avoid. I would encourage the restaurant to ditch the cute-quaint jars in favor of tumblers. (And, yes, I did mention this to our server to pass along to management.) Service was attentive, friendly and not intrusive. Prices are in line with our expectations of a nice restaurant. We'll go back in few months to check out the new seasonal menu. Definitely worth a trip!

We placed our name on a list and were told it would be a 30 minute wait. Once sat, we were brought…read moreout water and were given time to look over the menu. They have several items on their menu, such as sandwiches, burgers, salads, salmon, and steaks. They run specials on a given day. I seen on Saturday, a seafood boil bag for $56 I believe. It is good for two people. I seen several people order that and enjoy it. They also have a rib special on Fridays for $14 which is a great deal as well. My pricing could be a dollar or two off.... I ended up ordering a Diablo burger with a side salad. It had a sweet and a touch of spicy sauce in it with pepper jack in a soft bun. I really enjoyed it. I tried some of the fries and they were nice and crispy. Our server was very helpful and pleasant with our table. She would come around and refill our waters as needed. They automatically add gratuity to a table of eight and more of 20%. Overall, we had a good experience.

Menu is solid, especially their breakfast offerings. Major negative is that they don't have peanut butter available for pancakes/waffles. We usually get great service and prices are reasonable. There was only one other person in there when we arrived, but by the time we left it was packed! Counter staff was super friendly and I love that you can see the hard work that's happening in the back of the house. It's such a cozy vibe. They post their daily menu to Instagram so I already had a list of what I wanted, but it all looked SO GOOD so we left with much more than originally planned. Bagels: the BEST and I mean BEST sourdough bagels that I've ever had. When others make them a lot of times they turn out too dense, but these were perfectly puffed on the outside, a little tangy, and chewy when you rip into the bite. YUM! Today they had cheddar, plain, and everything. Classic Sourdough: perfectly cooked, perfectly chewy. I've had the cheddar-jalapeño before and it had a great flavor but that loaf was a little too chewy for me. The classic hits just right. They also have flavors like apple cinnamon, garlic, and gouda rosemary... just to name a few. AND they have some gluten-free if that's what you're into or need. It's coming fresh out of the oven regularly. Cookies: don't sleep on the sourdough cookies! They're perfectly chewy, large, and so flavorful. The molasses are my favorite but honorable mentions include snickerdoodle, peanut butter, and chocolate chip. They also have an assortment of cakes - we opted for a huge slice of carrot cake that was a "small" - and desserts. There were cinnamon rolls, tiramisu, and honestly so much more that I blacked out a little and wanted one of everything. All in all, we walked away with a full bag of bread and treats for only $32! They take card and cash. As I mentioned before, be sure to follow their IG @2acrefarms_sonorasourdough for what's offered daily!

We went by today for a lunch and it was delish!!!…read more The menu is spacious. Lots and lots of breakfast and lunch options but I will say it's a bit expensive. Perhaps it's due to inflation but 70$ for a couple sandwiches and a milkshake seems high but speaking of, it IS good! We got the patty melt with fried chicken on the inside, and onion rings, a Dr Pepper with a chocolate shake! My friend got the Chicken Pesto Sandwich with their garlic fries and their ranch (which was home made I tried it. YUM) the food was juicy and the milkshake was creamy with real ice cream. Absolutely delish!!!! The service was great per usual! Our server I've had before who is hilarious, SUPER good at serving I swear can triple task. Plus he was good at bringing me Dr Pepper and gave me one to go. Extra points for that!!!! If there's one thing I loooove it's my drinks and the faster I get them fresh the happier I personally am!!! The ambiance is very casual and usually packed to the bone!! The residents of the area are all friendly, the girls working behind the bar are sweethearts it's decorated with country style everything! I saw a puppy in there named Kona, very relaxed atmosphere and comfortable I highly recommend if you're traveling and looking for somewhere good to eat off of the 108 with amazing service and food it's here!!!
