From the moment I boarded the Juliet, I knew I was in for something special. The vessel itself is comfortable and beautifully maintained, but what truly set this trip apart was the incredible crew. She ran every dive briefing with clarity and confidence, helping the group navigate through the stunning underwater terrain of the Bahamas with poise, and always made safety feel effortless. Her expertise allowed all aboard to relax completely and focus on the magic of the reef, wreck and drift dives the group the did with ease, all of this with an amazing happy personality that made everyone feel secure, safe and welcomed. Then there's **Frenchie**, whose culinary artistry and storytelling made every meal an event. Each dish was beautifully prepared and tasted like something straight out of a gourmet kitchen aboard the sea -- fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. And between courses, Frenchie's stories added another dimension to the experience: charming, engaging, and perfectly paced for the atmosphere. Wow, just wow... The Juliet isn't the fanciest, but you will not find or dive any dive sites this pristine anywhere in the US. The diving was some of the best I've experienced. No other boats at any of their sites other than Sapona, which is a wreck dive just a few miles from South Bimini. I could do a whole review on this site alone. There's something to be said for diving without 2 or 3 other boats on the same site much less anywhere to be seen. Back to The Juliet, she used to be a cargo ship now converted to a liveaboard dive ship with enough room for 12 guests and 6 crew. Upon arrival you will be treated like a guest and depart feeling like family. Outfitted with the diver in mind, it's super easy to get spoiled diving from the Juliet. Super easy giant stride off either side, the best ladder I've ever used to exit the water and 15 ft bar to assist on those 3-minute safety stops. The crew operates like a well-oiled machine with each one doing whatever needs to be done. Unfortunately, we did have a medical emergency on the trip and the crew immediately went into action and got the Coast Guard involved in an air lift operation to get the afflicted passenger to hospital care. All the while they kept the rest of us updated on what was going on. Sorry no pictures, but this was impressive on all accounts. Back to the fun diving part... The Juliet offers Nitrox only diving (they can certify you if you're not already), 3 day and 1 night dive are offered daily, the dives range from 20'-100' and you can lionfish hunt or take photos to your heart's content. We did do a couple of drift dives, but the current wasn't really cooperating. I'd like to give a special shoutout to Jimmy for taking care of all our lionfish and keeping the boat running, Frenchie for making them into ceviche and some of the best lobster bisque ever, Matt excellent DM and the great dive briefings, Lyndsey for her great love and knowledge of 'fish of the dive', John N. for night watch and all the little things, John B. There is no better deal than Juliet sailing and diving liveaboard. She is 104', has 6 cabins (two are en-suite) and carry no more than 12 passengers. There is a fabulous dive deck, storage lockers for your gear, and all you have to do is jump in the blue water. Nitrox is available and everyone from beginners to tech divers are welcome. You can even bring a rebreather. There are usually four dives a day, or if you really want, an early morning dive can be arranged. Trips run from Miami to Bimini in the summer and at the moment, St. Croix in the winter months. This boat is truly the best deal around as the cost is less than $2k for everything. I had an amazing trip on the 6 night trip to the Bahamas. The crew was amazing, the meals were great. I'm a vegetarian and they prepared very creative quality items for every meal. We dove 4 dives a day including night dives on 4 nights, for a total of 19. The Juliet is a very cool boat and the staff create very memorable experiences for divers of all levels. I did my first ever liveaboard dive-trip, a 5-day trip to Bimini on the S/V Juliet. Since I'd never done a liveaboard before I decided to try it out with a short trip rather than one that was a full week long. If I hated it I'd be wasting less money and time off from work. I'm happy to say that wasn't an issue and my trip on the Juliet ended up being the best dive experience I've ever had. I cannot speak highly enough of her crew and I'd recommend her to anyone who enjoys liveaboard diving. My positive experience with the Juliet started several days before my departure. Four days before we were supposed to leave I injured my ankle in a way that made it seem like I would not be able to go. I called them up to cancel my booking but a couple of days later it turned out that my issue was much less serious than I was initially told. Diving seemed possible again so I gave the Juliet's office another call and they were happy to put me back on the manifest. One of the Juliet's great advantages is that she sails from Miami. This means that getting to her is extremely easy and cheap for those of us who live in the mid-Atlantic. We flew into Fort Lauderdale which isn't quite as convenient for getting to the Juliet as Miami's airport is, but FLL is a much better airport for affordable tickets than MIA. We got to the boat in the early evening and were quickly welcomed aboard and helped with our bags and gear. The Juliet is a 100-foot long steel-hulled sailboat that originally hauled cargo in the South Pacific. She was later modified to support a research station in Antarctica and has since been turned into a liveaboard dive boat. Because of her design she doesn't have a typical dive deck at the back of the boat. The dive station is in the middle of the boat just forward of the pilothouse. You get into the water by jumping off the side of the boat, and there's a retractable dive platform with stairs for getting back on. It sounds a little bit ungainly but is actually extremely easy to use. I went on this trip with an ankle that I'd sprained pretty badly five days beforehand and I had no issues at all getting out of the water after a dive. The cabins are comfortable but you probably won't spend very much time there except for when you're asleep. There are power outlets, AC that keeps them reasonably cool and sinks in some of the cabins. Cabin #1 really isn't all that private (the person who's sleeping in cabin #2 has to pass through it in order to get to their room) but those two cabins have the advantage of having their own private bathroom. The other cabins share a couple of additional toilets and a shower. Showering off on deck is also an option in between dives or at the end of the day. Fresh water is plentiful as long as you aren't ludicrously wasteful. All of our diving days started off with a call of "breakfast is ready!" around 7 AM. For the first couple of days there were three day dives interspersed by lunch, with a night dive after dinner for those who were interested. On the last day we had a couple of dives along with an opportunity to snorkel with stingrays right before lunch time. We could have gotten in a third dive on the last day, but the consensus among the passengers was that we preferred a more leisurely schedule along with the opportunity to see the Juliet under sail since squeezing in a third dive would've meant hustling back to Miami as soon as that dive was done. Good food is another thing that the Juliet seems to be well known for and she lived up to that reputation. Will and Hilary did an amazing job in their small kitchen. The food was always pretty hearty but each meal came with salad and lots of veggies (fresh, crunchy vegetables, not canned crap that had been cooked to death) so if you wanted to eat reasonably healthy that would have been easy. My girlfriend is vegetarian and they were wonderful about accommodating her. Will always prepared some sort of vegetarian variation on the main dish (i.e. eggplant parmesan when the main meal was chicken parm) for her and I'm sure they'd make arrangements for any other reasonable dietary restrictions. Fruit and snacks were available if you got hungry in between meals and there was always a cooler full of water and another with lemonade or fruit punch to encourage people to stay well hydrated. Beer, wine and booze were available once you were done diving for the day. Obviously a trip on the Juliet won't suit everyone. If you want privacy and lots of personal space and don't like sharing close quarters with people you've never met before then a liveaboard trip isn't for you. People who are absolutely set on squeezing in as many dives as possible also might want to look for a different operator where the norm is five or even six dives per day. For someone who wants a comfortable but reasonably priced liveaboard trip I cannot imagine a boat that's better than the Juliet though. read more

This was an amazing dive trip. We sailed from Miami and cruised up and down the Bimini chain, looking for the best dive sites given the weather. Most dives, there was not another soul in site. Crew is great. I had several issues with my dive equipment and the divemaster fixed them in minutes. Dive briefings were spot on and safety was top of mind. Classes available on board if desired. Meals were very good. Everyone on the crew is very social and makes the trip fun. Sea life on the trip was wonderful. Many sharks, rays, barracuda, sea turtles, eels, lobster, crab, urchins, octopus and more types of fish than I could describe. read more

The Positive: 1) Departs from Miami, no need to get a plane to the Bahamas 2) Allows you to bring all your dive gear including tank (I live in Florida) 3) Gave me a parking pass to stay near the dock while we were in the liveaboard without charge 4) Relaxed: you can dive until you run out of air, no dive time 5) We saw Caribbean reef sharks and large loggerhead turtles. 6) The crewmembers were friendly Areas for improvement: 1) We were told the boat departs @ 3 PM Saturday, it departed @ 7 PM after dinner. Apparently, management missed a deadline to turn in paperwork to authority 3 days before we were supposed to depart and that messed up our departure on Saturday. 2) We were told it would be 4 dives per day in a total of 20 dives (the dive log in the wall of the boat says 20 dives). The first day (Sunday) and the last day we only dove 3 times (Thursday). Sunday they had difficulty to dock in front of the Sapona wreck at 10 AM. The ocean was calm, the diver master that day and crew simply could not tie the boat down. We dove 3 more times that day with calm water and no current whatsoever anywhere. We were docked on Monday because of bad weather, the winds picked up to 25 knots and we could not dive (we missed four dives that day, no one's fault). The following day (Tuesday) we returned to the Sapona and did our first dive there. The ocean was dead calm again. Wednesday and Thursday we dove very easy dives with no current anywhere. The weather for diving was nice. On Thursday, with no current, sunny day, and almost no wind; we returned to Miami at 3 PM in the afternoon. I asked why not do another dive, the four passengers who were taking a plane the following morning did not care. Four people who were not flying the following day wanted to dive and remaining divers did not care. For everyone crossing from Bimini to Miami at 6 PM would be even worse because we would rather eat with the boat in calm waters. We were not asked our preferences, including the passengers taking the plane the following morning. The year before with the old owner we dove 20 times, we did not miss a dive. This time there was a day of strong winds. But Monday and Thursday there was no excuse to miss dives. 3) The surface time and lunch/dinner were not well spaced out. Several times, we ate and dove a few minutes latter (10 to 15 minutes) with a full stomach. Some friends did not dive because they did not enjoy diving with a full stomach. 4) We repeated several dive sights, I can understand repeating a dive sight in a night dive. But this was not the case. The passengers did not ask to repeat the sights and we did it anyway. We dove Lurk Head Reef 3 times (one night dive here) and Bull Run 2 times (no night dive here). Plus, some dive sights were 1000 ft from each other, nothing new from one to the other. This happened with the ocean surface calm and no current as excuse to repeat dives. 5) No dive sights below 60 ft, no need to even offer us nitrox for the dives, one family of three spent $ 300 on nitrox, they complained to me afterwards. The previous year, the owner allowed us to dive deeper areas, if the current was strong, a diver that did not feel comfortable could return or not dive. This time with many people with several years of diving experience (a tech diver included), they did not ask us if we wanted to try a deeper dive. Some very plain dive sights, similar to the shore dive in Lauderdale by the Sea (Broward County) or a regular drift dive in Palm or Broward Counties (Florida). Nothing great. 6) No sailing this time around, only diving. The previous years, we sailed, some of us were looking forward to it. One bad day of wind, and we did not even try the days when the weather was nice. 7) Like I said above, we returned Thursday afternoon in a beautiful sunny day, when there was no current, and little if any wind, and were back in the dock at 11 PM. Crossing from Bimini to Miami (rough waters) with a full stomach during the day (it takes them 6 to 7 hours). We could have done two dives at 4 PM and 6 PM, have dinner at 7:00 PM in calm water and be back in Miami at 2 AM or 3 AM. Then, wait for immigration and customs until 8 AM the following morning to depart the boat. No one could leave the boat at night; arriving at 11 PM or 3 AM would not matter for people flying or the people who wanted to dive. Extra two dives in a day of calm waters after missing a day of diving Tuesday would have gone a long way with people diving with Juliet for the first time and I who give this a try for a second time. I am not writing this to put the new owner down and be negative. I would like this company to stay in business, I like to dive and they are convenient. However, there were several divers saying that they may not return or they may wait a bit longer to wait for the things to improve again for them to take another chance. read more

Although this was my first live aboard so it's hard to compare this trip to other live aboards I had a great time. The crew was very friendly and helpful. The food was great and plenty of it. During our pre-dive meetings details on what to expect and how to navigate was gone over. We boarded Juliet on oct 13th and headed to the Bahamas (Bimini area). Can't get better than this! Wonderful week July 2015- Cannot say enough about how awesome it is-- got married on it! (no, not a service they provide but did for us) Dive all day, good people, great sites, beautiful water, no cell phones, wonderful service, trained instructors/master divers, etc. Went again to the Virgin Islands in January 2016--- another wonderful trip. Sister and friends went along, and next time our son is coming too. Scheduled again on the same boat/ same crew to Bimini in July 2017 and CANNOT wait. Take this week for yourself and see. This was my 3rd trip and I am booked again for next year!!! The staff make one feel like family as they provide guests with exceptionally outstanding service. The boat is classic, comfortable and clean. Guests receive an outstanding dive brief and are sent safely on our way. One typically dives 4 dives per day, continuing dive education opportunities are available as is nitrox and gear rental. The food is exceptionally delicious and plentiful. Once one one has completed their final dive of the day adult beverages are also available. Clean dry towels are a daily delight. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and have more than enough storage space for your gear. There is a crew of 5 (Captain, Engineer, Chef, Biologist and Dive Instructor / DM) to care for 12 guests. Summer trips are from Miami into the beautiful blue Bahama seas. The Juliet winters in Puerto Rico and the US and British Virgin Islands. This is a happy, joyful scuba trip with beautiful sights and an outstanding staff to care for your every wish and ensure your safe diving experience.
