A group of us one for dinner and we tried several different dinners and shared them amongst us. We were seated quickly and they accommodate our group of 10 easily, we placed our order in the food, came out, reasonably quickly. The main course started with a salad, and we ordered both garlic and buttered nan. Our main courses included mahkani chicken, vindaloo, fish, chicken biryani, spinach paneer, momo dumplings, and several orders of King of Texas platter. The flavors were wonderful, and when we ordered a few of us, ask them to dial up the spice, but be careful. The service was very good and attentive, and the restaurant was relatively quiet from noise. Some restaurants are just super noisy, and TAJ is not. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, I know you'll enjoy this restaurant.

Just not my vibe and tasted like I was eating bones the whole time. Shrimp Noodle Soup: Accidentally got this dish, but not a disappointment in the slightest. Probably my favorite bite of the night. Shrimp Stir Fry Noodles: Also incredible with lots of standout spices added in. Garlic Naan: Never misses Chicken Biryani: So much depth of flavor, went perfectly with the meat dishes we ordered. Service/Ambiance- Great, with not much to complain about. Music was a little bit too loud considering how calm the restaurant's atmosphere would be otherwise. Servers were great and speedy even though it was late and not too crowded. Great place. There's not much more to add. Himalayan Taj is seemingly simple with no flashy presentation in how it's designed, but that allows great food to really shine. Despite my issues with a few of the dishes, this place is really worth a visit whether you're by yourself or with a large group.

These are some of the best drinks I've ever had at any type of Indo-Pak restaurants in Houston. The mint lemonade was definitely in a league of its own. We didn't go for any appetizers, just went straight in to the entrées. The Chicken Hara Masala Supreme. Just wow, chef's kiss. Think cut up chicken thighs in a green curry that almost has a salsa like mouth feel with vegetables. Absolutely decadent. The Steak Tikka. Round of applause. I overheard the owner telling other tables that it's the best steak in Houston. I'll say it's the best steak I've ever had at an Indo-Pak restaurant. The steak was super tender it had that famous Tikka style smokiness. The Butter Chicken. Pretty damn solid. The gravy was silky and perfectly textured. They also use chicken thighs for this, which makes it even better. The Saag Paneer. It was all right, I've had better at other places, but still super solid. The Paneer was fresh and was great on all the various naans we got. For the naan, we just got the garlic and the butter naan. They are absolutely great when they come straight out of the tandoor oven, but I found that they get a little too hard if not eaten quickly. I'm sure they would reheat really well. We also tried the spicy rocket naan and it decent. I would just stick with garlic and butter. The only miss for me was the Mutton Biryani. Don't get me wrong, it's a solid biryani dish, but I've had better that had a little bit more flavor. The mutton was very tender, but the opportunity was making the rice a little bit less clunky. I see a lot of reviews with people hating on things like service or area. Let me just say we had no issues with service. The service was top-notch. We spent $222 with tip across three people. The food was such so delicious and I felt as though it was cooked and served with passion and love. The curry was indeed flavorful, not too spicy, juicy and tender lamb meat with crunchy small diced potatoes. The portions were generous (as we expect in Texas), so you'll never go home hungry and your wallet will remain heavy too! If you haven't had Nepali food yet, you have to try Momo House first! Nepali food shares similarities with Indian dishes, so you'd like it if you enjoy Indian. I'd say Nepali tends to be lighter (less butter and oils) and the spice/heat level leans milder. That being said, "momos" are distinctly Nepali. They're essentially dumplings, but you have the option to enjoy them as a "jhol momo", which feels different from east Asian dumplings because they're served sitting in a savory soup-like sauce with the familiar flavor notes of a south Asian dish. One cool thing to note: They do not serve beef here, but they have buffalo! Try it if you haven't yet. It's similar tasting to beef, but naturally leaner. Contrary to what you might think, it's actually not gamey at all! Momo House truly lives up to its name. Tons of momo options are available. Plain steamed, pan-fried, deep-fried, chilli momo (which are momos that are stir-fried with a flavorful spicy sauce), with soup (steamed momos sitting in a plain broth), with jhol (steamed momos served in a flavorful soup-like sauce), and they even have the option to get frozen momos if you'd rather cook it at home on another occasion! We tried both their chicken jhol momos ($11) and buffalo jhol momos ($13). They were both phenomenal! You get 10 pieces of hefty-sized dumplings. They do not skimp on the meat here, you'll be pretty full after eating one order of momos! We also tried their chow mein ($14). This was yummy too.
