I love this! This is better than ice cream! My mom thinks it's healthier, but it's really not. But it tastes so delicious and sweet. You get to choose your ice flavor, choose your fruit toppings, and other additional toppings if you want. Last time, I got the snowflake. My last combo: durian mango ice topped with mango, strawberry, and kiwi. If you were looking for something healthy for dessert after a meal in Chinatown this place isn't it. It seems healthy; fruit, fruit juices, shaved ice.. wrong! Juice box drowns their shaved ice desserts in super sweet condensed milk. Don't get me wrong it's delicious but I would never recommend anyone to try to eat one of these on their own. Everytime I come here we usually split the shaved ice dessert between at least 3 people and sometimes we still have a hard time finishing it! This past weekend we got the shaved ice with 4 different fruits, ice cream, and flan. I don't know what compelled my cousin to order this dangerously sweet concoction! Nonetheless, it was good. I still prefer my shaved ice desserts with the more traditional variety but Juicebox does cater to the younger crowd. Good place for small groups. I heard about this place from a friend, and both my boyfriend and I were floored at how delicious their shaved ice is. We are not Asian and this was our first experience having this amazing treat--sure we had "snowcones" before, a treat I loved as a child with the ranks of Oreos and other such high-fructose corn syrup laden monstrosities. Taiwanese Shaved Ice is like snowcones for adults, or for people who haven't been poisoned with an American over-sugared pallet. Sure, it's still sweet, but it's a pleasant, refreshing kind of sweet. My favorite was watermelon chunks and green tea ice cream, which is some kind of miraculous when combined. I was unsure of what to get, the place definitely caters to those in the know, but the cashier was happy to help me navigate :) For others like myself who didn't really understand this desert, it's just shaved ice, some condensed milk on top with a good amount of fresh fruit you get to choose from and one large scoop of ice cream, unless you prefer to opt out of the ice cream. Then they pour condensed milk on top and put a scoop of strawberry ice cream for $7. Tasted pretty good, though sometimes the condensed milk doesn't reach the ice on the bottom so the ice is just bland. Place is also kind of stuffy, they should run the AC. I'm not big on shaved ice, but I'd fall in love with their Fresh Fruit tea drink. It is the BEST around town, but the price has increased a whole lots. The average cost for refreshment is $3 with Tapioca around Chinatown. Juice Box has increased its price to $ 5 a cup. It is just tea with chopped fresh fruit bits. I've been coming here for years, since the days when they used to be cash only. I always get the same thing - mixed fruit. Before you only had a choice of two fruits but now you can get up to 5. It's a super simple dessert but you just can't beat it! Just shaved ice, fruit, ice cream flavor of your choice, and sweetened condensed milk. The Juice Box is a really fun Taiwanese shaved ice / smoothie shop. They offer a mind boggling array of both traditional Asian treats and contemporary western / fusion fare. Their menu consists of a wide array of fresh juices and juice combos, shaved ice (which is topped with sweetened condensed milk, ice cream, and fresh fruit and is amazingly tasty and refreshing), fruit teas, and other assorted goodies. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent and fast. We always have a great time when we hang out here because in addition to all of the great drinks and treats, the place has a really fun vide. Also, everything is made to order using fresh fruits and vegetables. If you've never gone an Asian juice place like this before, do yourself a favor and give the Juice Box a try, you'll have a great time and enjoy some really wonderful refreshments. P.S. I recently lost my wallet here, and the proprietors not only found it and kept it safe for me, but actually stayed after hours to return it to me and refused to accept an extra tip when I came back to collect it, so not only is this a great place to enjoy a juice treat, but it's run by good people.
