Good, fresh juice. Were accommodating to my special needs. And they were willing to make the custom juice mix I wanted before there was the option to make a custom juice combination online. So far I've had a pineapple juice with peaches and strawberries, which tasted very good and fresh. I also ordered their broth, it was good once I added some garlic. Also their beet juice and pear juice. All of them have been very good. I'm planning to get my weekly fresh juice here, because of the products, but also because they gave me good service online when I messaged their Instagram. Highly recommend. My best friend has been running health & wellness shops for the last 6 or so years so I would say I have had my fair share of healthy, green smoothie gunk. Not a huge fan. I was in the area and was craving something green so I figured I'd give Juice Appeal a shot. Being greeted with a radiating smile and friendly conversation by the shop owner upon immediate entry was a nice touch. The Michelin star restaurants in Manhattan couldn't compete with this woman's hospitality. At first glance, it's a quaint little smoothie shop on the corner, perfect for passerby's to grab a quick pick-me-up on their way to class or work. Upon further inspection, it's easy to infer just how much the owner, Ilham, cares about her customers and her product. Not to mention her attention to detail in each menu item. Collaborating with similar operating bodies to bring her customers new and improved products as often as possible, she does not air on the side of timidity. After a nice conversation, Ilham recommended her #1 seller, the "Purple Kow", with a bit of sea moss added in for gut health. It was gone before I got back to work, and I work 6 minutes away. Had a chance to try Juice Appeal yesterday on the way back from a walk from the Berkeley Campus. This place is conveniently located across the BART station and if you are looking for a healthy drink/acai bowl this is a place to get your cravings. Main issue here is that it is pretty pricey. Not sure as I usually don't get juices (make them at home) but this place runs at around $7-8 bucks for a 16 oz. drink. Once we got here I ended up trying the green goddess which came with apples and a whole bunch of other healthy greens as well as some ginger. I think when I would take the sip it was be good but the after taste for me was a bit blah. If you want something healthy and have the $$ this is a good one or else I would look again. read more

This place is frustrating to find, but worth it. When you see the Kaplan building on Shattuck, you can't see it from the street, but it's in the same building. We literally drove right past it twice. Maybe we had low blood sugar. I had a Green Spice (apple, celery, ginger...it's better than it sounds). Ask them to add lemon and ice. They were really cool with my picky additions and even though they actually made the wrong drink for my friend, they redid it without any attitude or arguing. it's my favorite smoothie store ever! I've been waiting for opening again. I really love every smoothies I had so far! my favorite would be blue clouds. but the service is very very slow. I work in food industry too and getting smoothies or bowl are my treats but please train new employees. last year some berkeley high school students were working, even only first few days they were working so well. today i ordered through snack pass at 9 am and when i get there to pick up, there was only 1 customer, the lady she forgot to turn on the tablet and I think she hasn't remembered the receipt yet so i had to wait extra 15 minutes. I really really love your guys drinks so please train new employees. every time I have these services, it's getting hard to come back as a customer even it's my favorite store. read more

Love their drinks but they only accept cash. They also have a suspicious mandatory compost fee if you order online. The cup is the same when you order online vs in person, feels like a scam. Online ordering has a higher price to opt in for a larger cup (24oz) than in person. Why are the prices different online vs in-person? Almost seems that they need to compensate for merchant fees when offering online orders, so they raise the prices and add a mandatory fee. read more

Quite a decent place for smoothie bowls! I ordered the pitaya bowl and my friends got the acai. The size was good and it came with a lot of toppings: strawberries, blueberries, coconut, and honey. Cash only!!! OK if you have Bank of America or Chase (both around the corner) but still annoying. At this day and age I can pay at most places with my phone or even my watch, so cash only restaurants and food places makes less and less sense, other than of course if you are trying to play tricks with your taxes and make it inconvenient for your customers. That issue aside, the acai bowl is OK but not worth the $9.50 price tag. Not sure about the rest of the items as it is unlikely that I'll be returning. Overall, the quality was average and the quantity, well, is not properly reflected by the price tag since its a simple acai bowl. Wasn't a fan of the tons of honey they poured on top of it and I had to mix it to dilute the strong taste. The staff wasn't very friendly either. And if you plan on driving, keep in mind that there is no parking provided and parking in general in that area of downtown can be problematic. The smoothies here are SO good! There aren't many smoothie options in Berkeley so it's great that this one is located right next to campus. The only downside is that they only take cash, but there are a couple banks across the street so it's not too bad.
