EC Great Touch Painting

EC Great Touch Painting

(1 review)

On August 6-7, I used Enrique of EC Great Touch to do some minor painting for me.  For the first…read morejob, I needed a second coat in one bedroom and walls and ceiling in a closet and a bathroom.  He had his 2 workers spend an entire day taping off the bedroom and covering all furniture in the middle of the room with plastic... as one worker was leaving for the day, I asked what they were doing.... he explained they were going to spray the baseboards and door trim as well as the doors.  I have used painters in the past and never had this done.  This is not the way to paint baseboards and door trim!   I had to sleep in my clothes since I could not reach my pj's or meds. The next morning I asked Enrico to finish this job and I would not need him for the other jobs I had mentioned.  Enrico has 2 workers and they were here consistently for the 2 days, but Enrico came and went.  At the end of the job, he asked me what I wanted to pay him.  I am an 82 year old widow living on Social Security and have never been good with numbers and am not able to calculate and think quickly.  After arguing for about 30 minutes I ended up paying him for the cost of his 2 workers ($37.50/hour x 2 x15 hours = $1110), the paint ($625) and miscellaneous supplies $100.  Then he wanted to know what I wanted to pay him for his share.  By now the total is $1835 which would have been a good place to stop.  I didn't know how to figure this out and was infuriated because he stood there grinning and smirking while I deliberated and agonized over what to do.  I was on the verge of either tears or screaming.  I wanted to be fair and ended up paying $2750 which everyone tells me is excessive for the small amount of work. He also failed to repair a hole in one of the walls which was left when an ADT unit was removed and took two new gallons of paint saying he needed them to match the color.  He is unprofessional and dishonest.  It should not be my decision on what to pay.  I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING HIM.
