Denzel, the new owner of six months, has kept up the good name of this business, and the service was exceptional. We appreciated his friendliness, and we found him to be as honest and transparent as is his policy. Our vehicle was fixed and ready to go faster than estimated, which was a terrific bonus for us. Best Choice is now our go-to automotive repair business. The labour charge is on par with a good automotive service shop. You can likely you can find some cheaper places, however, we've had the experience that you get what you pay for. We experienced that today. One of the issues we had with our vehicle was that we had taken it for an oil change at a chain-business (looking at you, "Mr.") because it was less expensive. We certainly got what we paid for: cheap price and bad service. Unknowing to us, the oil filter that was not put on properly, and over a bit of time a litre of oil leaked out as we were driving around. We can't even imagine the cost if all the oil had had all been lost. We appreciate that inexperienced people learn to change oil and may make mistakes while learning at chain-businesses, but we cannot afford to have their inexperience cause us issues with our car. From now on we will go to Best Choice to have our oil changes done by a trained and qualified automotive service technician. It's likely going to cost more than a chain-business would charge, but to prevent what would have been 1000s of dollars in damage makes it a smart move in our opinion. Car repairs can be costly, and we admittedly have a small income, but better to spend a little more to take care of our car and give up something else from our tight budget than not to have a working vehicle. Also, on the humourous side, Denzel was completely non-judgemental when he repaired the mistake we made and explained what we did wrong on a car repair we did ourselves. When I went into Kal Tires to purchase new tires (the same season) they told me the alignment was off and the direction of the treads were completely wrong which Downtown Auto completed. Waste of money. This same auto repair shop told me they could not open the glove compartment but that they would have to break the lock and replace it with a new one that would cost me about $200. I refused the service. A day after my mom opened it herself with a screw driver! When even trained car technicians could not open the glove compartment, my mom did without breaking the lock. Was it they wanted to me to pay for more for nothing? Why would I even I go back when now I'm suspicious of possibly getting scammed (if not already)? The bottom line is they simply cared so little about my car and the service they provided me at the time, how can I ever think of going back? The service was awful to say the least and I did not feel they cared enough for my business or any returned business I would have given them in the long term. The only person that was kind was the receptionist during my first and last experience with Downtown Auto Edmonton repair shop. When servicing is done with care, that would be the auto repair shop you should take your business too. And in my experience, this ISN'T THE ONE. Consumer Beware! I thought if it wasn't fixable they'd try to upsell me for a tire. They didn't. They just fixed it and off I went. I was going to buy my next set of tires from Costco, but Costco f'd up my order. So in I went to Kal Tire. They'll price match! So if you love Costco prices but want to avoid the brutal Tire Center service (as you might have heard from other people it's brutal) go to Kal Tire. I can't tell you how grateful I am that they spotted this! They then helped me pick a new set of front tires and I will be back on Monday to have them installed as they need to bring them in. He actually came in after hours himself to run diagnostics on it and figure out what the problem was. Bobbie has worked her butt off getting the best price on parts to make sure that our repair didn't cost us an arm and a leg.
