Their rice and beans were also delicious. My wife had the grilled chicken platter and it was huge, I'd say enough for two, or to take home for another meal. They take reservations, but when we went, although we had reservations, they did have a couple of tables available. This place is perfect for a pre Count Basie show since is directly across from the venue. It is also a BYOB place. Overall a solid place to eat and enjoy some tasty Mexican food. The service was excellent also. Definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area

We were thinking based on the location that the prices would be high, but not at all. The prices were very reasonable. You walk inside and there were some tables already reservered. We found an empty table and our server was right over with menus and water. They serve complimentary chips and pico, The chips are homemade and very good. We decided on sharing the mixed grill fajitas. It was so good. There was a good amount of shrimp, chicken and steak. It had great flavor, and the homemade tortillas were very good. The green spicy sauce they provide isn't spicy but adds good flavor. We couldn't finish between the two of us. The food and service was excellent and would come back again.

That hospitality carries through the entire staff, who are attentive, friendly, and make you feel like a regular even on your first visit. The food is outstanding and truly authentic--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish feels like it comes from a place of pride in the cuisine, not shortcuts. It's also BYOB, which makes it even better--and somehow Tino always seems to have plenty of tequila on hand for a friendly shot or two with his guests. Add in the live music, the back patio, and the overall vibe, and you've got one of the most fun atmospheres in Red Bank

We walked in the front door and wanted to sit in their outdoor patio area in which you walk around the side alley of the restaurant to the back. It's half covered and half open patio seating. The staff here was very attentive and good. Just once we got our meal it was hard to find out server again to get the check and pay. Free chips and salsa are brought to the table. The verde salsa was much better than the red salsa. I ordered the hibiscus juice which was sweet and perfectly sour and refreshing in this heat wave. We ordered the tostadas and burritos chistosos. The food came out rather quick as we were one of two tables there. My tostadas were good just extremely messy to eat. The two mini burritos the beef was far superior to the chicken one. The crema queso sauce was the best part of the burritos for it was packed with flavor. The beans and rice were just okay as they really didn't have any type of flavor. Pricing was average depending on what you ordered and most meals came with a side of rice and beans as well.

Communication can sometime be a little difficult, but the food more than makes up for it. Update 1: 5 stars again, got delivery via the restaurant a few days back. The arabes had great flavor, and lasted for days. Chorizo tacos were obviously the favorite, as expected. Also, was blown away by how filling and delicious the Cemita was. Support local businesses, if you can, please! I was starving after my massage and ordered tacos to go - two tacos with chorizo, potatoes, onions and one with chicken, smoked chipotle. Literally sped home to eat them (I had one in the car right away. Don't regret it) Amazing, amazing tacos. The chorizo tacos said onions (cebolla) but they were long stemmed bulbs - not sure if they're called something else but I loved them (please let me know if anybody knows what they're called. Check photIt came with lime, radish and green salsa (not sure). Red Bank has awesome options if you don't care about these places being small, cramped and not upscale. Top quality authentic Mexican food. I'm going to go back soon to try more of their menu.

Thankfully North of the Border came through. I like to try a variety of tacos but unfortunately NOTB, like many others, does not let you mix and match. Therefore, I chose an order of 3 lengua and 3 chorizo tacos. I also ordered a bottle of coke to go. I had to do a double take of the receipt as my total was pushing $30. I asked the woman at the counter to break down the prices and confirmed that the lengua tacos were $13 and chorizo were $9. This threw me off as an older picture of the menu shows all tacos priced at $7. I really enjoyed these tacos. They were super authentic and full of flavor. I may order again but will be shopping around first to find tacos that are more reasonably priced.

The menu is extensive so there are a lot of options and undoubtedly something for everyone. Guacamole and chips were fresh, when eating the salsa the green one is rather spicy so keep that in mind (we love spicy so it was perfect). Tacos as an option is great because you can get them all the same or mix it up and order fish, pork, shredded pork and or sausage. The meat is slow cooked and accompanied by melted cheese, onions, and cilantro.....the perfect combination to dance on your Palate. The fish taco was lightly breaded chunks of fish and was not in the slightest bit greasy. I would highly recommend you order a horchata drink....it's a non-alcoholic, sweet, and refreshing drink. Horchata is made by blending white rice and cinnamon sticks in water and letting them soak overnight. After the rice and cinnamon are discarded, the remaining liquid is then flavored with vanilla, sugar, and ground cinnamon.....a must try and a drink you will crave all the time.

There was also a bit of a sewage smell that lingered the whole evening, not sure where that was coming from. But, the most important to me is the food lol. It was a lively atmosphere inside. I'm glad that they allowed us to be seated even though our full party wasn't present. Service was friendly and fast. Really enjoyed the crab empanadas.... the "guacamole" they puree it which gave it a bit of a watery texture that wasn't the best. But, the absolute star of the show was my scallop entree! WOW. Every bite was perfectly balanced and delicious! Highly recommend.. I got a side order of rice and beans because I needed an extra bed for all of that deliciousness. Would take this to go! My cosmo was tasty, small, but tasty. Pleasant experience overall.
