We are from SoCal and love Chinese cuisines and would you believe We found one of the best Chinese restaurant in Pacifica? We are here for a business conference and almost would visit "Tams"to dine but the reviews and the diners nightmare experience stopped us from coming over! Ju Fu is 3 miles over to where we stay but the 4.5 stars review and the bad weather condition did not stop us from visiting the establishment! And boy! We were not disappointed, Fried Calamari-Wor wonton soup- Gen.Tsos chicken-House chow mien-House fried rice-Beef broccoli-Sautéed veggies w/ pork, chicken and shrimp were heaven!! WE LOVED THE FOOD! "Wendy" our food server was attentive even though she was busy taking to go orders. My wonderful wife and I were looking for a new Chinese restaurant to try and we were pleasantly surprised. My wife is not eating any meats, so we tried the vegetarian option General Chicken with the "mock" chicken. That wasn't to bad, it was breaded and had the texture and taste of chicken. (I think it needed more veggies in the dish... but what do I know.) We ordered the Xinjiang Lamb. It wasn't as spicy as I expected but it did have a really good flavor with very little salt added plus there was a lot of meat. And the best for last.... the Spicy Beef Stew Soup Noodle... Yowza!! FULL of flavor, full of beef, full of noodles. The broth was so good and beefy and again with little salt. I kept thinking I could eat this for breakfast. This stew alone is worth 5 stars. I like this place. I find the chow mein and fried rice to be needing a little more flavor but still good. To me they're bland tasting. But I've tried many of the other dishes and they are really good and flavorful. This place is a more traditional Chinese place i feel. I like Kenny's restaurant a lot as the people are wonderful and the food can be wonderful but they are really inconsistent sometimes and last few times the food hasn't been up to par. Very surprised at the quality of the food considering the high reviews. The pork wonton soup I ended up throwing away. The broth had hardly any flavor. It tasted like water that some instant powder had been put into. There were no scallions or cilantro or anything else in the broth except for 2 small pieces of spinach.The wontons were full of small chunks of fat g,ristle and tendon. I kept biting on crunchy things that were not Water chestnut. It was unappetizing. Eggplant is 1 of my favorite ingredients in Chinese food, so I ordered the garlic eggplant. There really was barely any garlic flavor, and I could see no garlic chunks. There also seemed to be no other seasoning. I also asked that the eggplant be not too greasy, but it came out terribly overcooked, soggy, and limp. I've never had eggplant this bad in a Chinese restaurant. I have been to this restaurant twice before, and though it is not really authentic Chinese food, it was good enough in a pinch. But this visit was terribly disappointing. This place is really good! My daughter and I come here once in a while after a long and chilly play at Frontierland Park or the beach. My five year old has a picky but interesting palate: Italian (only the freshest of course), Japanese and Chinese - hahahaha! That means I have a staple number of restaurants to take her to that she will eat at. Ju Fu is one of them! My daughter and I came here for dinner on Sunday (two days ago) after we did a bike ride at Rockaway and I was too exhausted to cook after a whirlwind social weekend. I have a good Chinese restaurant we like in San Carlos, but Ju Fu is even better. It is casual, comfortable and clean inside. My daughter loves Won Ton soup, but she loves the soup at Ju Fu the best. It is the most simple Won Ton soup I have seen with a rich broth, green onions and spinach, that's it. My kid will actually eat the spinach this way. I also usually get a pork fried rice which my daughter will eat as well. This time I got the Cashew Chicken which has cashews, zucchini, onions and bell peppers. It was really really good! I give this place four stars because the service is hit or miss. We got to the restaurant on Sunday evening at an unnaturally early hour (the kid and old people time to eat) and there was only one (older! just like I said!) couple in the restaurant besides us. The service started out ok. But, a half hour into our seating, Ju Fu started getting slammed and pretty much all the tables got filled and the phone was off the hook with take out orders. Also people were walking in to order take out. I could tell things were getting overwhelming in there, to put it lightly. They only had two servers, one of which was nowhere to be seen a lot of the time, so it was up to one server to answer phones, check tables, and take the walk in orders. My daughter and I finished our meal and no one came to our table to clear it for over a half hour. Good thing I was in a relaxed mood just hanging with my kid. After waiting for 40 minutes for someone to clear our table and bring a check, I finally got up myself and asked them to come to our table asap. They were apologetic, and because the food is so good, I have some leeway for Ju Fu. But, if the service continues like this, I may have to update and bump my stars down. My group was famished and so we ordered the Spicy Pork Wontons, Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Fried Calamari, Orange Chicken, Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce, a Shrimp dish I can't recall the name of, Kung Pao Tofu, Vegetarian Chow Mein, General Tso's Tofu and the Tea. The Orange Chicken was the best I've ever had, and this is coming from someone who orders it fairly regularly from all over the place. I don't generally like tofu entrees, but I would definitely get the General Tso's Tofu again if I were in the area. They appear to do a lot of take out business but their dining room is clean and well kept. Service is brisk and friendly. You can have franchise, fast food Chinese food or you can have upscale Chinese cuisine catering to American tastes elsewhere or you can have food real Chinese people enjoy ... at Ju Fu. The wonton wasn't gummy and the broth was flavorful. Beef asparagus: saw this on pics and it looked so good. Glad I tried it because it was good quality beef and the asparagus were cooked perfectly. Mongolian chicken: Just the right amount of spice for me. My husband actually likes spicier food, but he didn't need to add anything because it had enough flavor for him. Chicken chow mein: Good amount of chicken and vegetables. Noodles tasted fresh and had a good chew to them. Pork fried rice: Standard, but still good. Not too salty. This place is a hidden gem. I've been coming here since they opened several years ago. I used to work nearby and my coworkers and I had it in our weekly take out lunch rotation. I still make a trek over once in awhile for lunch even though I work farther away. I love their hot and sour soup - it is so consistent! never too spicy, always just enough sour. I like the beef with mixed vegetables (with brown sauce) lunch special, it's big enough for 2 meals (unless I'm super hungry). I order it with the fried rice. note; their fried rice is a little different than most places I've been to in that it is much lighter in color - I add soy sauce to mine. If I'm not there during lunch hours, I usually get the snow pea beef - lots of beautiful snow peas. This restaurant is an absolutely amazing authentic Chinese restaurant in an otherwise unassuming small town. This place has always done great takeout, but doing takeout during the stay-at-home makes this an absolute go to. They do some amazing pork dishes. My two personal favorites are the twice-cooked pork and the crispy shredded pork. I absolutely think that these are their two best dishes, and despite the amount of peppers you can find inside, they aren't that spicy. With a little bit of rice, these dishes absolutely shine. Other meat and noodle dishes are also done exceptionally well here, and overall, I feel like if you order anything from here, you can expect an amount of quality that is really hard to find without going out of your way to find other Chinese restaurants over 20 minutes away. I wouldn't recommend any of the dishes that are very "American," but if you stray from the Westernized menu, I think that this restaurant does some great dishes. read more

We've eaten at Ju Fu ~five times, and it's a solid 4 (potentially 4.5, but that's not a choice). With the exception of Tam's, the rest of Pacifica's Chinese food is pretty bad, so we're very happy they opened recently and to have this option. 1. Food: all the dishes we've had so far have been good or great (for full disclosure, we haven't tried any fish dishes yet). My only negative here is that they won't steam the pot stickers, but they're still good. 2. Staff: five stars. Everyone's always nice, they work hard and make you feel genuinely welcome. 3.
