I've biked literally everywhere in the US and I am so happy to have Juan and Maria right here in our backyard. I've been going to JS for almost a decade. Juan is a master mechanic who can solve any problem. I go to him before every tour I take and whenever I have an issue and the repairs are always perfect. Maria is wonderful and helpful and explains things to me that I never knew (or forgot 20 years ago). Most of all they are trustworthy and caring. One example: years ago I rode a Cannondale I had purchased at another shop that developed a crack in the frame. The other shop tried to give me the runaround but Maria helped me figure out to fight them to honor the warranty, and eventually they did. If you need a flat changed you can go anywhere. I caught a flat tire and my bike needed some fine tuning as well. I love my bike and I didn't want to take it to just any bike shop. I read the reviews for JS and based on the reviews it seemed like the place to go. What I will say about the reviews is that these guys should be straight 5 stars and no less! Professionalism, courtesy, knowledge, customer service AND quality of work are all excellent!!! Their store is super clean and organized. I was in and out in under 20 minutes (of course this all depends on what you need done) and the price was VERY fair! If my bike needs ANYTHING I will only bring it here. That's a fact! Everyone tells me this place is expensive but my father is friends with the owner so, when I needed my delivery boy's bike repaired, I thought to take it here. I introduced myself to Juan and showed him the bike. We spoke in Spanish and he told me it'd cost $48 for everything. Little did I know that his idea of "everything" was basically nothing. I picked the bike up the next day. It looked like it'd hardly been touched. But this was my dad's friend, surely he got the job done, I thought. The bike did not last a single work day before it started falling apart. Confused, I examined it and saw that the cogwheel had not been set (the main issue) and that the back bearings were literally falling out of the wheel. I went back to Juan to get some answers. I was disappointed when he refused to take any responsibility, assuring me that the damage was not there when he worked on it and that he completed the job we agreed upon. He did not. He offered to refund me the $48 but we began talking about alternate solutions. This was when his wife intervened. The wife vehemently denied any responsibility of the store and claimed that I had brought the bike in for a tune-up, not a repair. After arguing with his incendiary wife for a few minutes I said, OK, I'll just have my father come and talk with you since I am clearly no friend of yours. I rode away on my dilapidated bike as Juan called out one final goodbye. "FUCK YOU", he shouted in a Dominican accent. I wish I was making any of this up. read more

I am proud to call this my LBS. Here's why JS Cycle get's 5 stars (I would give more but 5 is the Yelp * limit). I was searching around for a bike and didn't really know where to start. I stop by JS and asked if they could help me find the right bike based on my needs. Juan didn't just explain to me the different type of bikes and prices but he seem not to care much about the money I could expend on a bike but rather have me satisfied as a customer. He was so happy like if I just had bought the fame there, He said that if I needed help with anything else or any advised just ask. I decided to complete my bike with him. So happy to find a bike shop I trust and who can teach me things about the best way to use my bike for long distance rides. I went in thinking I needed to do a major repositioning on my brakes and gear shifts to help my back. Maria looked at the bike, looked at me on the bike and said - "Really, I know my job is to sell, but honestly, you don't need all that. That won't solve your problem. We can adjust here and here, you can try that out, and let us know how it feels." The minor adjustment is helping and I did not end up overpaying for something that I was unaware I didn't need. I finally found some time to write a review on this place. To keep it short and sweet I have been coming to this shop for almost a year now for tune ups as well as other services. They posses in depth knowledge on anything bicycle related and their prices are fair. The mechanic is honest and will give you an honest opinion to go along with fair prices. Honestly one of the best shops I have been to. I bike almost 20 miles a day and have visited many places but this place stands out among their peers and I will continue coming here in the future. Wether it be a tune up or a regular flat, these guys will fix it and will do it in a timely manner. On top of that they always call with any updates and questions/concerns. This is a time saver for both parties. I recently got hit by a car and needed new rims, tires and brake pads and I was in and out of this place in about 30 minutes. This recent experience is what encouraged me to finally write a review. On top of other customers walking in they were really attentive to everyone who walked inside the shop. I would recommend 100%. As an experienced fan of the cycling sport, and an experienced customer in the NYC cycling community, this review is only based on customer service, honesty and responsiveness. This has nothing to do with their products, but products don't sell themselves, humans do. Even though I purchased a bike of almost $3000 the owner Juan had a very unprofessional choice of words and seemed too busy to explain or interact with me the buyer. Debasing the opinions or poorly listening to customer's need. The lady in the shop was nice and kind. But other than that you may still have to deal with the head of the bike shop Mr Juan, which at the end of the day will profess he is a professional racer and competes in races, but ironically does not care to compete in customer services as the other bike shops in NYC do. They do not get one star from me or my other cycling colleagues. I was promised a fitting, never got it. My new bike had a scratch that the owner noticed while he assembled the bike, but didn't seem to care much about it.( $3000 bike) Emailed the place with questions, never received a response. I took my bicycle to js amid the covid pandemic. My wife and I are over 60 and wanted a way to get our bikes on the road for our mental health and to curb the cabin fever we were experiencing. We had a lot of concerns about going into the store and getting it tuned up and a wheel replaced. We called Maria and she was so much more sympathetic than the other shops we called. When we arrived they met us at the curb, removed our bike from the trunk and off we went. We didn't even need to leave the car. We paid by phone and picked it up the next day. When they met us outside the shop the sprayed the bike down with Lysol right in front of us and replaced it to the trunk. Very reasonably priced and good professional service. Thank you JS.
