I have been battling two leaks, one on each side of the house where we added an addition in 2006. Jose, the owner at Restoration Roofing, was able to squeeze me in and visited me the same day I requested the estimate on Yelp while the others responded and came in a day or two. Jose arrived early for our appointment and flew a drone over the house, the other roofers relied on a company that specializes in providing sqft and other data to roofers. Jose was the only one who really impressed me and presented me with a beautifully written, thorough, bulleted estimate describing all materials to be used per my preferences (e.g., Certainteed Landmark Pro shingles) before even leaving. Jose was friendly, professional and obviously knew residential roofing based on our half an hour or so together. The other roofers all got back with estimates in a day or two, which was fine - but Jose's estimate was the best-written, clear and concise but thorough, on a one-page form. Jose did not pressure me while I was waiting on the other roofers' estimates at all, when he left he just shook my hand and asked me to contact him if I had any other questions, in a warm and genuine way. The overall sense I had, combining all the Yelp reviews and my own interaction with Jose was that he is a genuine, friendly roofing expert. When the other estimates came in, I was happy to see Restoration Roofing's was among the lowest two for a lot of reasons. One reason was the pages and pages of stellar Yelp reviews from Yelpers who had solid Yelping history. Another was his communication and person skills. In addition, Jose's company is Certainteed Master Certified and Certainteed shingles, from my research, are great value and quality. In addition to a new roof and identification of the source of the leaks and repair/prevention and the upgraded shingles, I asked for new oversized gutters and downspouts, and pvc facia. When roofing day arrived, Santos, Josh and a crew seven others were right on time and were friendly and hard-working! I watched off and on as they did herculean work to remove the old roof, including replacing some of the rotted wood in need of replacement (see pic of one leak and damaged wood). They did a fine job, paying attention to detail and photographing their progress from their lofty perch, and at the job's completion Jose provided me with a link to over a hundred photos documenting the progress. I watched as the flashing, nailing, boot replacement... everything went flawlessly. And they did a great job cleaning up and did a couple extra things no charge, like resecuring soffit. I was confident when I selected Restoration Roofing over the other highly-rated roofers. A week and a half later, my roof is beautiful! All in all from appointment to estimate, to roofing, to gutters, to the photos and the price of the estimate holding true, it was a stellar experience and I can't thank them all enough for being so great at what each excels at. David provided an excellent service to an incredibly complex front porch roof and gutter issue…read morecaused by a nest of squirrels living rent-free for decades. We bought a century-old rowhome in D.C. and didn't realize we also inherited a family of squirrels that ferociously dug into our front porch beam. We've gotten several quotes in the past two years where roofers and siding companies chalked it up as "this is going to cost you a lot of money and it's just not worth it." We finally decided to prioritize fixing this problem and got three quotes. I got two other quotes, and one was really expensive (due to different material cost) and the second one was comparatively the same. I trusted David's expertise because he was referred by my friend who highly recommended him (David fixed my friend's leaky roof issue nearby); and David didn't give me a run-around answer with the problem I had raised. When I finally decided to start on the project, David's team was ready to go. I wanted David to fix three big areas: 1) trimboard/beam; 2) gutter; and 3) front porch ceiling. David's team took photos throughout the process, identified that the front porch trim board didn't actually have a beam inside, so the squirrels lived in this hollow space filled with mulch and tree branches. They quickly gave me an estimate of the additional cost to add a beam and worked extremely hard to fixing the front porch roof area. They were done within a day and a half. I'm super pleased with David's craftsmanship. David went above and beyond my expectations, fixing a beautiful antique crown moulding that the squirrels chewed up, and making it look like new. I am so relieved to know this problem is now fixed and the squirrels have no way of getting back into the roof. Everything is sealed and properly done. Please protect David at all cost. Instead of just "making it work" or creating a huge mess with drywall dust, Zach proposed a brilliant custom solution: building a clean birch veneer box with custom trim. It looks stunning and kept my house completely dust-free. What impressed me most was Zach's integrity. During the install, a small piece of my old plastic molding snapped. Instead of ignoring it, Zach took full ownership and replaced the trim on both skylights with upgraded foam-backed wood molding at his own expense to ensure everything was airtight and uniform. He answered the phone immediately and was at my home with his two sons within a couple of hours. Actually, he apologized for being early! He and his son George spent about 20 minutes going over every inch of the roof, and came back with an assessment, a diagnosis and a proposed fix. With rain in the forecast, he juggled his schedule to get a crew out two days later to make the repairs. George and his sons were on hand to supervise every aspect of the repair and to addresse issues likely to create problems in the future. George is honest, fair, kind and straight forward. His two sons who work with him -- George and Buddy - are wonderfully personable young men. I can't recommend George highly enough!
